About Laurette (Laury) Alexander
Built in 1965 by renowned architect Bill Mingenbach this house has been in our family ever since. The unique design includes sliding glass doors in every room allowing for natural light to enter the house from all directions. Our family loves to hike, ski and just relax. We love being able to walk to our favorite restaurant Lamberts of Taos.

Why Laurette (Laury) Alexander chose Taos
Taos has a unique and rich cultural environment. The stunning natural light and mystical landscape was a perfect place for a rambunctious and creative person to grow up. Taos gave me the tools I needed to become a successful fine art photographer. Each and every time I return to my childhood home (Casita Maria) I am reminded of the amazing natural light that keeps my creative juices flowing.
What makes this House unique
With a beautiful view of Taos Mountain the house sits on an acre of land and is just a five minute walk to all the best restaurants and shopping in Taos. The house has been completely remodeled and now includes a beautiful hot tub and deck.

Close to town, modern, clean, has everything!
10 minutes walk into town, 30 minutes from the ski slopes.
Very well equipped, modern, clean.
Loved the bird feeders with many different species of birds
Beautiful setting in a very quiet neighborhood.
Stayed over for a long weekend in Taos at this cozy home. It's well furnished throughout every room. Beautiful photography and artwork. The galley kitchen is very clean, efficient, and well stocked. The living area is spacious and comfortable. The bathroom is large, fully stocked and features a heated tile floor. When it's cold......this bath will warm you instantly. The bedrooms are comfortable and quiet. We had 2 favorite spots in the home. The hot tub with amazing sky views at night.....and the tree just off the living room. Every morning dozens of birds came to eat from the feeders. The property manager is very courteous and helpful. Would recommend this property to all guests!
Thank you Brian! We look forward to having you next time you travel through Taos.
Perfect Get Away
We rented this house for a long weekend in Taos. We brought our 9 year old daughter and 2 year old dog. The house was so adorable and cozy with an enormous yard. The yard is fully enclosed, so I didn't worry about my dog getting out. The neighborhood was very quiet and all the time spent outside was just delightful. The yard has big trees and so many, many wild birds. It was so peaceful to just sit on the bench, watching and listening to the birds.
The house was very close to the plaza and you could easily have walked there. The town favorites like the toy store/playground, Twirl, and Pizza Outback were easy trips from the house. We also hiked up to Williams Lake and then down to the Rio Grande Gorge at Wild Rivers - again, all easily accessible from the house.
The kitchen was fully stocked with any cooking tools you might need. We ate lunch and breakfast in the house and it was easy to cook and clean up. The beds were so comfortable. The house is so quiet, it was a delight to sleep in the quiet. We watched a movie on the DVD player one night, which was fun and easy to figure out. The hot tub was also really so pleasant. The stars were amazing from the hot tub.
We stay with VRBO often, but this was really a very nice, clean and luxurious place to stay. Although, it was also so comfortable and welcoming, which is so important with kids and dogs. It was easy to book and we had all the information we would need to get in touch with the property manager if we needed anything. We didn't need a thing because the house was all set! We definitely plan to stay again at CasitaMaria.
Thank you for submitting your wonderful review. I appreciate your comments, we strive to keep our place up to date and comfortable for our guests. We look forward to having you back in the future.

We love staying here!
This is our fourth or fifth stay at Laury's place in Taos. This visit was particularly rainy, so we spent more time at the house and inside... and enjoyed watching movies, reading from some of the books in her library, and enjoying the warmth and comfort of this great casita. It was lovely to be able to take some evening soaks in the hot tub on chilly fall evenings as well. We also enjoy being able to bring our two dogs with us when we stay here. They love roaming around the huge fenced-in yard and going for walks around the neighborhood. It's also only a 10-minute walk to the plaza and lots of great shopping. We usually bring food to make for breakfast and then eat out at some of our favorite Taos restaurants (Love Apple, Lambert's and Taos Diner). Th house has a very well-appointed kitchen with everything you would need to bake and prepare meals. I'm sure we'll be staying her again on our next visit to Taos... we love it!
We love having you as guests! Thank you for taking the time to write such a wonderful review. We look forward to having you back again next year.
Nice home especially if you like being outside, which we do!
Great home to stay for 2-4 people. Only one bath but not a problem for the two of us!
Beautiful private oasis just minutes walk from plaza
This is our third or fourth stay at Laury's wonderful place!! We come here every year for our anniversary and always bring our dogs with us. They LOVE roaming around the huge fenced yard and sunbathing on the deck, and we can leave them home to nap in the A/C for short excursions into town. There are also some amazing hiking trails just minutes from the house that we always take them out on. This house has such a great "mid-century modern meets the Southwest" vibe to it... plenty of room for the two of us plus two dogs and it would easily accommodate 4 or 6 people if needed. Well-appointed kitchen. A wonderful hot tub to enjoy on cool summer evenings. And essentially, everything you could possibly need. We usually eat out when we're in Taos (sooo many great restaurants and we always go back to our faves... Lambert's, Love Apple, Taos Diner) but there's everything you'd need to make meals at home here as well. Love, love, love this place and we already are looking forward to going back again next summer!
Thanks for spending your anniversaries at Casita Maria!
