Loved the cabin!

So close to the pool. Saw a bear at dusk yesterday down in the woods.

Great Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This is the 2nd time my husband and I have rented this cabin for a fabulous getaway for ourselves and another couple. The cabin is so comfortable and well appointed. We have found it to be perfect for a quiet place to relax for a few days. The furniture and beds are so comfortable. The porches, hot tub, gas grill and pool, which is just steps away, make for such a convenient and enjoyable place to relax and enjoy this beautiful area. We will definitely be going back.

Owner's Response: This review is the only one we have ever received on our cabin lower than 4 stars. Almost all have been 5 stars. Please note that the guests could have contacted the office immediately after their arrival if there were cleaning issues. We take pride in the cleanliness of our cabin. Our housekeeper or one of us (the owners) would have been there immediately to take care of any problem. The picnic table on one of the cabin’s three decks is the standard type which you can purchase at Lowe’s or Home Depot. They are built out of 2 X 6 boards with attached benches on either side. Our maintenance person informed us that the table is in excellent condition, but it had tipped over because several large people were trying to sit on one side of the table. This was unfortunate and we are sorry it happened. After receiving the information about the stains on one of the pillows, we immediately replaced every pillow in the cabin with new ones. We have owned this cabin for 6 years and we have replaced the living room furniture twice. So the furniture is not old. We are purchasing a 4th new living room sofa, chair and area rug. The kitchen table and chairs have been intentionally distressed to look older and in style. The photographs in our ads are accurate and unedited. While perfection is not always possible, we try very hard to have a cabin that our guests find clean, comfortable, and an exciting place to stay.

Bear Necessities - Very nice cabin

  • 4 of 5

The Bear Necessities cabin was very nice. Conveniently located next to the swimming pool. Pet friendly, and nice amenities like laundry machines, pool table, fooseball, and hot tub. We only had a couple complaints/areas for improvement. The cabin should have better access to trash dumpsters, and come with additional trash bags. We had to drive 1/2 mile up the road just to dispose of our trash, and get additional bags. This was pretty inconvenient, and nobody wants to put trash in their car, and deliver it 1/2 mile away. Our other complaint was that the rental's gas fireplace was turned off during our stay. The front desk explained that this was because it was during the warm season. While this is true, we were still looking forward to relaxing by the firelight in the evenings, which was not possible. Overall an excellent weekend stay though. Air conditioning worked very well. Rooms were clean. Disclaimer: The advertisement states this cabin fits 8 people. In actuality, we had 4 people in our party, and could not imagine having any more than that. This is a 2 bedroom cabin with a VERY small living room area.

Awesome stay

  • 4 of 5

I had read many reviews about Mountain Shadow Resorts, good and bad. I am glad that I decided to go with them - the staff was kind and helpful - the cabin was beautiful, spotless and perfect for our stay!!! I would highly recommend using VRBO and staying at Mountain Shadow Resorts. Bear Necessaties was the perfect spot.....could have used a bigger trash can and an updated shower head in the master bathroom.....other than those 2 miniscule items, I loved it!!!

Good Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed this quiet, comfortable cabin. Four people stayed and had plenty of room. The pool table and hot tub were fun. There's no mountain view, but it's close to many attractions and the national park. We enjoyed the Gatlinburg Space Needle, zip lining, and hiking to Rainbow Falls.

Clean and easily found

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It was clean and right next to the pool which the kids enjoyed. It had all the bedding necessary for our party of 8 and the kids enjoyed the pool table and the jacuzzi. It was easy to find and close to the office. AC WORKS GOOD and the wifi was a big help for all of our teens. They offered clean towels/trash bags/toilet paper and that sort of thing at the office but we found it easier to buy those things and wash the towels there. My only suggestion would be to purchase a new non stick skillet for cooking eggs (we cooked each morning) other than that it was a great place to stay, affordable and close to all the things we wanted to do.
