About Dan or Tessa

We live 1 1/2 hrs north of Toronto in the country. This apt has been our urban escape for years and we love it. It's bright, happy and located in our favorite part of Toronto.

We have recently renovated the 3rd floor apt (previously used for long-term rentals) and have moved upstairs.

We come down to the city approximately every 1-2 weeks. We have used VRBO ourselves and hope to provide guests a comfortable, stress free experience with easy availability to us at all times.

Dan or Tessa purchased this apartment in 2006

Why Dan or Tessa chose Toronto

We love the tranquility of living, isolated, on a farm. However, intermittently, it's interesting and fun to immerse ourselves in an urban environment and our property is what we consider a perfect location to do so. We've traveled extensively and although each location is unique, Queen st w. Toronto is our favorite, due primarily to the multi-ethnic aspect of the place and proximity to various interesting venues.

A comfortable home in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a week in June to see the city and soak up the culture, and I can think of few places better located and equipped for what we wanted to do.

Being right on trendy Queen West, surrounded by wonderful food and interesting stores in all directions, we were able to easily get everywhere and enjoy doing it. Dan and Tessa gave us great suggestions on restaurants, and helpful information to get on the TTC for everywhere we couldn't easily walk to.

The apartment itself is bright and quiet, despite being on a major street. The great room faces Queen West, which leaves the bedroom back away from all the street noise. Having independent air conditioning in the great room and the bedroom let us have a nice cool space to come home to after the heat on the street.

The kitchen is sufficient for simple meals, and there's a variety of options for however you want to prepare morning drinks (I counted 4 options for making coffee). With the Loblaws just a few minutes away we were able to eat a couple meals in when the city had taken it out of us.

The bathroom is clean and comfortable, if a little on the small side. The washer/dryer works well, although the dryer took a couple tries to get our heavier clothes completely dry. We never did utilize the patio off the bedroom, but I'm sure it would be very nice in the cooler months.

The bedroom gets very dark if you want that, which we very much do. The bed is comfortable and clean. The doorway between the bedroom and the great room is somewhat small, so if you're above average height keep that in mind, but once through the door all is well.

Overall we loved the place. It served us well, and we would recommend it to anyone looking for a place near the action in Toronto.

Would definitely stay here again

  • 4 of 5

Tessa was there to open the place for us, show us some things we should know and find out what kind of things we were looking for in the area, making some suggestions on where we should go in that regard. She was always there by text if we had a question.

Being right on Queen St W the city is right out your door however, when you are sleeping, which is in the back part of the suite, it is perfectly quiet. Not a hint of noise and I am a light sleeper. The best of both worlds. Next time we are in Toronto, my wife and I will be booking this place again.

Note: I gave it a 4 star rather than 5 star because my wife and I never watch live TV (frustratingly slow with commercials and lack of choice on demand), we only watch Netflix. Since there is very good wifi in the suite, a Roku for $100 and $10 / month would make it that much better. The TV is relatively small as well (we are used to 40")

Owner's Response: thanks for the feedback. We do try to continually respond to suggestions, and will put a Roku device in the apartment!

Great place - even with a baby!

  • 5 of 5

We were travelling with our little one of 9 months to Toronto and were so happy to find this nice appartment for our small family. Dan and Tessa made every effort to organise all the baby equipment we needed so that we had a perfect time in a perfect place. We stayed two weeks and it just had the perfect size. The living area is really spacious so it didn't get poky or boring for the baby.

The neighbourhood is also very nice, because you are close to the centre and have all kind of shops and restaurants just outside on the street. Don't miss the delicious bread of the bakery "Sud Forno" across the street! At the same time there is also a wonderful park less than 5 minutes by foot where we could see the cherry trees blossom! There are a lot of baby places nearby - look for "Artscape Youngplace" at Shaw Street. With the streetcar you can go to downtown or all the tourist spots easily. And it isn't too noisy because the sleeping room goes to the back and the front windows don't let much noise inside.

Dan and Tessa are really nice people and were always approachable if we would have questions. Communication with them was quick and easy. We definitely recommend this place and hope to be back some time.

PERFECT MINI VACATION

  • 5 of 5

I have rented vacation rentals off of VRBO before for different locations, i have to say this is my favorite! Tessa was so polite, very helpful when we got a little lost finding the street and just a pleasure to meet .You blink you might miss the door to enter this funky little loft but i liked that. Such a wonderful warm home to spend time at when visiting Toronto. This was our first time in the city and let me tell you, you cant go wrong with staying on Queen West. You open your front door look left, look right and there are endless options of food, shopping and entertainment. The public transportation is very organized and quite easy to figure out (thank you google). Very easy to hop on trolley to take a few blocks over to the Theater district. If it wasn't so cold out i wouldn't have even used the public transportation because it would be a wonderful walk. We most defiantly hope to be back during warmer weather so we can enjoy more of the outdoors while visiting. Thank you Tessa and Dan , we had an awesome visit!
