My wife (Cecilia) and I retired to Salinas Ecuador in October of 2012. We manage our vacation rentals in Ecuador and Mexico. Our Mexican property townhouse villa is a new vacation rental. I am an architect but I now only perform work on our own projects. We previously lived in Oakland, California for 28 years. We enjoy the beach and hope you do to!

When you stay in our townhome villa, you get the benefits of having the use of a complete villa with the ability to prepare meals and enjoy your privacy with separate terraces and bedrooms while also having the option to pay for the all-inclusive restaurant dining options, when desired. You get the best of all worlds while getting more for your dollar, euro, peso etc. This allows you to only pay for all-inclusive dining usage, when you want. We have attempted to provide many of the miscellaneous items for the kitchen so you only need to purchase your main food items and beverages for your stay. Casa de la Tortuga Blanca is different from most of the other townhome villas in the community. We have customized our unit to the way we wanted it for full time living in a villa. Upgrades/ modifications in our Villa that are different from the standard features in other townhome villas or condos include, but are not limited to, the following: • Expanded backyard terrace to provide space for a set of dining table and lounge chairs. • Custom lighting throughout many of the rooms. Please try out the different lights to find what lighting conditions you enjoy. Hint: Check out the LED perimeter lighting on the living room wood wall and ceiling panel and the linear lights on the bed headboards. • Ceramic-coated cookware for your health to avoid direct cooking with aluminum and for easy clean up. • Upgraded kitchen with many additional drawers, more counter surface area, an appliance cabinet and electric garbage disposal in the kitchen. • Full-service washer and 220V dryer. • Filtered water faucet and filtered water dispenser at refrigerator and ice bin in the freezer. • Electric outlet at the island for charging laptops or other electronic devices while using the bar area. • Upgraded 2nd bedroom/ lock-off suite with an upgraded desk and cabinet with a nice size mini-refrigerator, a coffee maker, and a microwave. • Marble-tiled terrace at 2nd/ lock-off bedroom.

Casa De La Tortuga- We plan to return
We spent a week here and enjoyed the property. The Villa was extremely clean, modern and well equipped. The outdoor terrace areas provided excellent privacy from neighboring units and were excellent for enjoying a morning coffee or an afternoon drink. The staff at Anah residences were very helpful and efficient. The lock off bedroom is great for 2 couples traveling together as it provides good privacy for each couple. This property was as advertised with no unwanted surprises.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Casa de la Tortuga! The villa is as described : spacious , well equipped, quiet, comfortable and secured. Beautiful terrasses on the first and second floors for sunbathing or for the happy hour. The villa is well located at a walking distance to the pools and the golf course. Lots of trolleys are circulating regularly on the site to get you to the beach, restaurants, or the casino.

It was great having you stay in our villa and thank you for your comments. I try my best to accommodate and respond to our guests to make it a great experience for them. In fact I am at the villa right now making some additional improvements although some cannot be seen since they are solar window films to cut down on heat gain, provide UV protection as well as improved safety glass on the sliding doors and windows. I just slept last night with the new retractable insect screens in place with the sliding doors pushed all the way open in the master bedroom so I got to sleep in the nice night air and wake up to the sounds of the jungle.

There are several nice restaurants on or near the beach in Akumal which is about 8 minutes away by car or you can take a collectivo and walk in from the main road. There is a small grocery store at the arch before the road goes to the beach in Akumal.
The Tulum Mayan Ruins are the only Mayan ruins that have been built on the coast. A must see along with the large ruin complex at Chichen Itza. The Ik kil cenote near Chichen Itza is also not to be missed if you go to see the ruins there. It is near the Chichen Itza ruins and is a very magnificent cenote.
