This private 2-story log cabin borders the rolling and wooded 30,000-acre North Kettle Moraine State Park. If you long for a relaxing, peaceful environment, this cabin is for you. If you prefer a more active vacation, hike or bike the nearby trails through Kettle Moraine Forest, go fishing or canoeing in local lakes and streams, or put on your cross-country skis or snowshoes and head to the woods. In the evening, relax on a shaded patio with a view of the setting sun over the hills of Kettle Moraine, then settle in around a portable fire pit to watch the stars come out, or have a family gathering around the fireplace and play one of the cabin's many board games. Only 2 1/2 hours from Chicago, 1 hour from Milwaukee, and 1/2 hour from Sheboygan. This cabin is a great family and couples getaway.
Downstairs is a fully equipped and newly renovated kitchen with gas stove, dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, cooking utensils, and service for 12 people. In addition the first floor has a dining room and living room - each with it’s own fireplace - and a half bath and attached garage with foosball, firewood, and a charcoal grill.
The second floor has four bedrooms and one full bath with tub and shower. The master bedroom has a queen size bed and several dressers. Two bedrooms are each equipped with two twin beds. The fourth bedroom is very small and has one twin bed. The cabin can sleep up to seven people.
Linens are provided, and there is a washer and dryer in the basement.
I stayed here with 3 friends and we had the best holiday weekend. David was very accommodating and easy to reach prior to arrival and then Jim was an excellent resource for the area once onsite. This cabin is charming, very clean and well stocked with dishes and a dish washer, linens, patio furniture, a charcoal grill (with charcoal) and wood for the pit or the two fire places in the living room and dining room. They also have a number of table games (albeit, a bit old) that can keep a group of competitive people awake until 2:30am trying to finish a 550 piece puzzle. The location is perfect for hiking, swimming (there are two beaches within a 5 minute drive) and relaxation. Although the cabin is wonderful, we spent most of our time out in the patio and had the best s'mores making session watching the sunset over the trees. If ice cream is your thing, Hamburger Haus is the place for you. Make sure to ask for the baby scoop or you will be extremely surprised about what they consider a single scoop here :) I am already planning a trip back here during the winter since I hear cross country skiing is really good in this area. I would absolutely recommend this cabin.
We stayed over the 4th of July weekend with 7 adults total. We had plenty of room! Truly. The cabin was very clean and so cute! The single room (4th bedroom) is small-ish but the person who stayed in there had no problems at all. Being so close to the Ice Age trail was great for hiking. A couple of us went on a run right from the property, too. The kitchen is great and well-appointed. There wasn't anything that we needed that wasn't there. While there is plenty of room in the house, we spent most of our time out on the patio, enjoying fires and watching the chipmunks bound around the yard.
Don't miss the ice cream at the nearby Hamburger Haus and if you're into weird things, Benson's UFO Hideaway is not to be missed.
The provided firewood and charcoal in the garage were really nice touches! I would absolutely recommend this cabin and hope to enjoy it in the future. :)
I stayed here with a number of friends for a weekend in February. The cabin is very roomy--it has beds for 8, but room for much more. The design is great, with an up-north cabin feel. It was very well provisioned, with everything we would need in terms of dishes, linens, fire wood, games, etc. It was very clean and very well organized. The location was great as well. We really enjoyed the seclusion, the forests, and the proximity to the Kettle Moraine State Park and the Ice Age Trail.
We rented this cabin for a girl's weekend where we could relax and unwind. The seclusion was purposeful and it was the prefect place! It also was close enough to some fun things (the Elkhart Lake German Christmas Market and Cederberg) that we got out and about. The kitchen was lovely so we could just sit in front of the fire, catch up, and eat..then head out to walk in Kettle Morraine to burn calories.
The house was well equipped and lovely. The caretaker was very helpful. Would reccomend this rental without a doubt.
My three friends and I had a most wonderful weekend at the cabin! There was plenty of room for all of us to enjoy the beautiful home and surroundings! There were so many lovely touches throughout. I highly recommend!!
My Wife, our 2 year old, my sister, my brother, his wife, their 3 year old and their 6 month old all stayed at this great cottage with room to spare. I cannot say enough good things about this place: Cozy country decor, 2 fireplaces with plenty of seasoned wood, nice kitchen with all cookware and utensils, great views all around, I could go and on and on but they only allow so many words here. The location is perfect if you want to get away from it all. It is surrounded by the Kettle Moraine State forest. We lucked out and had a good snowfall right before we arrived so all the trees were frosted making everything look like a picture perfect winter wonderland. The kids (and adults) went sledding down one of the moraines right outside the backdoor, Everyone had a good time. The owners and caretaker were extremely friendly and accomadating. We will definately be back again. Thanks again for a weekend to remember!
This lovely log cabin in the woods borders North Kettle Moraine State Park. In the park only steps away be sure to hike the many trails that lead through the hardwood forests to hidden lakes. Perfect for bird-watching. Horicon Marsh is 40 minutes away. Well maintained cross country skiing paths just one mile away next to the Kettle Moraine Visitors Center (which has a nice film on the glacial formation of the landscape). Special area attractions include The American Club, Blue Harbor Resort, and Kohler Art Center in Sheboygan and the Sunburst Ski Area (which includes snowboarding and tubing) in Kewaskum. There is also an annual airshow in Oshkosh.
