About Tony and Sue Sanders

We are a very active family of five! We have been visiting Lake Chatuge for many years and are now happy to say we can share the experience of the lake with others through Gather. Hospitality is in our blood - we can't help it - and we want your family and friends to enjoy the experience of the lake and mountain living as much as we have throughout our lifetimes. We purchased the home from a wonderful family who were the original owners since 2002. The house has been on VRBO since 2012.

Why Tony and Sue Sanders chose Hayesville

We live in Atlanta and Lake Chatuge is just close enough but still a world away. We come here to water ski, kayak, fish, entertain, visit local winery's, play golf, enjoy the Brasstown Valley Spa...the options are endless. As you can see we have an age span of children and there is plenty for everyone to do. There are also excellent restaurants in the area and a well-stocked Ingles just seven minutes from the house. Gather provides both convenience and comfort with any amenity you might want within reach.

What makes this house unique

We enjoy the open floor plan of this house because it's so easy to get the entire family together in one place. We can cook a great meal, enjoy a movie, or just hang out and play games. All while enjoying the beautiful lake views. The downstairs lake level is great when the kids want to hang out together. The lake level has 2 bedrooms, a full bath, a large open game room and big deck on the lake.

Perfect Setting for Large Family Gatherings

  • 5 of 5

We rented this home for our annual Thanksgiving gathering. We had 12 people and it accomodated everyone so easily. The one thing that stands out about this house is the kitchen! It is over the top stocked! You will find everything you need for cooking lots of food. The family room also accomodated everyone nicely. The sunrises are spectacular with a beautiful mountain view across the lake in the background. We were able to enjoy the porch even in the chilly weather because they have a free standing propane heater. The owners are very easy to work with. If we had a question, their response time was almost immediate! We would definitely go back.

It was like a home away from home

  • 5 of 5

We were there for a weekend to see the Fall Foliage. Due to rain we couldnt do much of any outdoor activity, but this didnt spoiled our trip. The house was equipped with every possible amenities one can imagine. Beautiful lakeside view spacious rooms and huge kitchen which had everything you need. The decks on both levels done very nicely with great outdoor patio furniture, swing and a hammock good place to spend some time with your hot beverages. Basement have air hockey, tennis table and video games where kids enjoyed most of their time.

The location is perfect too, close to the grocery store and few good local restaurants. Bell Mountain was few miles from the house and a must see attraction.

Me and my friends loved it very much, we already planning our trip during summer time so that we can do some water actiivities.

Highly recommend this place, you will surely make wonderful memories with your family, loved ones and friends.

Must say the owner Ms. Linda was the sweetest person I came across.

Stellar property and location!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this beautiful home for a family gathering and to view the eclipse. The amenities are great and Linda was a pleasure to deal with. Plenty of room and quiet privacy. My family was blown away by the lakeside location.

Our favorite spot was the raised deck overlooking the lake. If we weren't out playing we were there eating, reading, snoozing, chatting. It was perfect. And no mosquitos. I had brought along a generous supply of repellent that came back home with.

Thank you Linda.

(Oh, and the eclipse was astonishing. If you weren't in the path of totality, make an effort to be there for the next one in 2021.)

Amazing lake retreat!

  • 5 of 5

This house has it all! I stunning lake front home with PLENTY of space for a larger group of people. The owners were very incredibly easy to work with. The house if well stocked with everything you could possibly need. We had 4 families occupying the home and there was plenty for everyone to do! The kids loved the foosball, air hockey and ping pong tables. Everyone enjoyed fishing from the dock, floating in the lake, and relaxing in the lounge chairs. Unbelievable property. We will definitely rent again if it's still available!

July rental 2017

  • 3 of 5

The house is large and well stocked and appointed with what you need for kitchen and baths. However we did have 2 major issues. We notified the owners immediately that we had no tv service, and they sent a handy man to look at it on our third day. He agreed we needed the cable service to come out. So went the whole week without any cable service.

The grill was dangerous and dysfunctional. Fire shot from one of the front knobs, singeing arms and smoking so badly we were surprised the fire dept didn't show up. In addition a rat scurried from under the grill and a baby rodent found nearby. Two times we tried to use the grill and had to finish dinner in the oven. After more emails a new grill was delivered on thurs of our week, however we had finished our grill meals by then. Though the house was nice and clean, for what we paid for the week we didn't receive adequate value. Although owners were responsive by email,

neither of our issues were resolved in a timely manner.

In order to resolve the issues we were offered half a night off on a future rental, which we considered totally inadequate for our inconveniences. Make no mistake we would have rather had everything in working order with no maintainence calls.

Had we known we would be facing these issues , we would not have rented at any price.
