About Marti Barnette
We rented Mountain Vacation cabins for years, and fell in love with the Clayton area. So much so that we bought a home there. We now own other cabins which we share with others as rentals, so that they may enjoy this area as much as we do. If this cabin is booked, please ask if we have others available nearby.
Marti Barnette purchased this Cabin in 2012
Why Marti Barnette chose Clarkesville
Secluded mountain home on a creek and also near gorgeous Lake Burton. LARGE graveled parking area for multiple cars, boat trailers, or ORV trailers. Newly furnished and refurbished. Location is perfect for a quiet get-a-way or an active outdoorsman, cycler, 4 wheeler, hunter, or fisherman. It is all right there! Everything Northeast Georgia has to offer is just minutes away. Or you might just settle in on the porch and enjoy the surrounding nature. Rocking chairs available, as well BBQ grill if you get hungry.
What makes this Cabin unique

Charming and quiet
The cabin was cute, clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed. Loved the front porch and all the relaxing we did. I wish we had a longer stay. We would stay there again!!!
Quiet, peaceful retreat!
Wonderful setting not far from Lake Burton and Clarksville. Enjoyed the fireplace on cool nights. Bumpy road coming in or my review would have five stars.
Cute & Secluded
Cute little cabin built in the middle of the woods, nice and quiet. There were several issues with the cabin, we emailed the owner when we left so the next renters will have an enjoyable time. I did not get a response so I feel a review needs to be done. With these issues fixed; porch lights out, dirty dishes (left over meals still in the pans in the cabinet), broken and dirty grill and no batteries in remote, etc...you will have a nice stay. I also suggest bringing your own toilet paper and hand soap with you. Unfortunately the TP was very cheap and borderline painful and the hand soap was refilled with water. Otherwise, great price.
Great Location- Good Cabin
We had a great visit! Wish we could have stayed a few more days. We are water fallers, leaf peepers and photography is a large part of our vacations. This was our third visit to this area and we still have more to do and see. The only old friends (waterfalls and art galleries) we visited were Minnehaha & Bad Branch waterfalls. Mark of the Potter, Hickory Flats, No one Alike and Burton Gallery (Art Zones) Our new adventures were Wildcat Falls and Creek, High Shoals and Mark Trail Wilderness and down in Oconee County across the SC state line, the Chattooga, Reedy Falls and 3 of the 4 waterfalls in Brasstown. If you visit Brasstown Falls on a Friday or Saturday there is a great BBQ on your way out that opens at 4:00 (Brasstown Creek Gathering Place BBQ) The cabin is very close to Hwy 197- no crazy long driveways that take 20 minutes or more to get started or home. It is in the woods, dark and quiet. There are other homes close by, but you feel a good sense of privacy. The fireplace draws well and there is an outside pit we didn't get to use. Got all the wood we needed and more for $15.00 from a vendor 100 yards north of Kelly Mountain. She also had local wines from the area. Why 4 out of 5 stars? The kitchen is smaller than we like- we bring groceries and eat breakfast and dinner at the cabins- lunch may be picnic sandwiches or restaurant depending where we're at. If you're a cook there is not much in the way of counter top space. If you just snack or eat out- no problems. Everything else was great- bed, shower, couch, table and especially location and access.
Clean, perfect get-away.
We loved our visit. So close to lake Burton. Great cabin for 2 couples. I would go back.
Hurricane Irma Evacuees
Ours was not your typical weekend as we were looking for a place to escape Hurricane Irma only to have the storm follow us to the cabin in north Georgia. Apart from a few small items like a missing light bulb & a couple of things in the kitchen, we found the cabin to be cozy & comfortable. In spite of the entire county losing power as a result of the storm , we made the best of our last 2 days. A nice home base for drives in the beautiful countryside & hiking close by.
Not sure why a light bulb was missing. We went over and took care of bulb and checked out cabin for future guest.
