About Dave Lyons
Vered and I are two souls that love the outdoors. We climb mountains and hike all over the nation and internationally. We have climbed Mt. Rainier, Mt. Washington and Mesada in Israel. We're always looking for an adventure!
Dave Lyons purchased this Chalet in 2012
Why Dave Lyons chose Chalet Village
We were in Gatlinburg just passively looking at properties. We came across the one here at 991 Stans Road and fell in love with the potential. We refurbished it but still have big plans...for instance a waterfall with hot tub on the edge near the big windows. We want this to be our oasis because we love the area...it's like living a vacation!
What makes this Chalet unique
'Secondhand Lions' is uniquely positioned. It is close to just about everything...not far up the mountain....just right! It's cozy but very spacious...very relaxing while viewing nature out of all those windows.

Cozy mountain getaway.
We were quite pleased with our stay at this cozy cabin. We were pleasantly surprised to find a well-furnished kitchen (pots, pans, dishes, coffee pot) and lovely Jacuzzi tubs. Be sure to follow the owner's instructions as to how to get to the cabin as getting there by another route might be a bit challenging (but entirely doable). The property is very quiet and is just a few minutes drive to downtown Gattlinburg. We highly recommend staying at this property whenever you are needing a home away from home near the GSM.
Our second stay in the chalet
We stayed in Secondhand Lions two years ago and just came back for a second time. It offered everything we needed for our small family and our dog. The location can't be beat. It's really quiet and peaceful, but just a few minutes to the activity in Gatlinburg and it offers easy access to Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We will definitely stay here for future trips to the area.
Nice little place to stay near Gatlinburg
Really cute place to stay. Saw a bear while getting ready to get into the driveway on the first day. Only downside was minimal space to walk dogs.
An Unexpected Surprise!
I booked this a few months in advance for my daughter and now son-in-laws honeymoon and I got the dates wrong by one day. Mr. Dave handled it and changed the dates for me with no hassle on my end. I had also explained to Mr. Dave that this was a surprise I was planning for my daughter and her husband and what the special occasion was. Mr. Dave was very helpful and very responsive and quite quickly I might add. Little to my surprise to hear from my daughter and son-in-law once they arrived, was a very thoughtful bottle of red wine and a congratulations for their wedding. Mr. Dave didn't even tell me he just did it!! That was such a sweet touch to their very special day and it was very much appreciated!! The next booking for this property will be for my wife and myself lol!! Thanks Mr. Dave. You gave their honeymoon a special touch!
About the property~~ They were overly satisfied with the place and explained it was quite cozy and quiet. It is located very close to many attractions so they never had very far to travel. The only drawback (not for them but might be for some) is the driveway is a bit rough and a small or low car might have some issues with the it. They were in an SUV so it worked for them. Other than that, they were very satisfied and comfortable!! Highly recommended!
It was a nice place secluded in the wilderness. We even saw a coyote.
Gatlinburg in the spring
I found everything perfectly clean and neat in our chalet. It felt like home from the moment we arrived.
Property is located just off Ski Mountain Road. When you turn left onto Stans Road it's the first driveway on the right. Just a few short minutes from downtown Gatlinburg and to the top of the mountain at Ober Gatlinburg just up Ski Mountain Road.
