About Beth Maxwell

This house is owned by ,Beth and Max. Max and Beth have been married for 35 years and spent that time in Colorado with their 4 children and 5 grands while taking many visits to their favorite place, the beach. Now we are putting our experience into having a house that we wish had been available for us.

Beth Maxwell purchased this house in 2012

Why Beth Maxwell chose Galveston Island

We have vacationed with our children and Texas family forever. This is a favorite area for us, away from the noise of the seawall but close enough to visit when we want to enjoy the downtown Galveston area. We have wanted to own for years and the opportunity became available and we went for it. This house will embrace you and welcome you in when you arrive, it is that kind of place. Warm, inviting, relaxing, embracing, you will feel like you have come home.

What makes this house unique

When you are coming down the road this little blue house stands out from the others. It is a cute cottage with great views of the water without being right on the beach. The fenced yard has 11 palm trees and lots of grass for all kinds of games, and a break from the sand. It is cool and refreshing to lay around and read a book in the hammock, or play a little volley ball.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I'm so sorry for the misunderstanding! The downstairs bedrooms were locked but the bath and laundry and refrigerator that are downstairs are always available. Next time you'll know!

I'm glad it didn't upset your stay.

Lovely place and a real gem!

  • 5 of 5

This rental was very nice. Loved it. It is very large and comfortable. The kitchen was great. Most well appointed kitchen with everything you need to cook. So close to beach. Huge deck with lots of seating and two picnic tables. So clean. Lots of sleeping options with lovely linens. TV and internet. But what made the kids happy was the bonus room with pool table and second fridge. That was a big hit. Ms maxwell was so gracious and everything went smoothly. We are so grateful and would love to return very soon. It was a wonderful experience. Highly recommend it. Thank you for the best time!

We had an incredible week

  • 5 of 5

We had searched for a vacation home all through Galveston, and came across this little GEM. We booked the home a year in advance, just to make sure we had it. Beth was so helpful throughout the initial process, and continued to give support during our stay. The location is ideal for anyone wanting to getaway, a brief stroll to the beach and secluded enough to enjoy the waves crashing from a considerable distance. We had all the amenities of home, with a few extra considerations that made our party of nine quite comfortable. We checked in on a Tuesday and stayed until Sunday. We had made plans to tour Galveston and eat out at least once during the week. However, the home was so serene and peaceful, we decided to cook in every day and enjoy our entire week in the home. The rooms were big enough and inviting for a bit of privacy and the large upper deck was ideal to just sit, relax, enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning and visit with family and friends. We only ventures out to Galveston twice, Once for wine and second to shop the strand. We plan to come back one day, perhaps on our 50th Birthday. Thank You Beth for sharing your wonderful and enchanting home.

Owner's Response: This was a great group, they were easy to work with and when there was a snafu with the handle on the shower let the plumber in to fix it. They followed the rules and left the house in great condition, even put the trash out to the curb. I hope they visit us again.

Very welcoming. Clean, and very open floor plan which made it evendors better.

  • 5 of 5

Although I stayed for 2 nights it was well worth it. The sun was shining and the breeze was amazing in the evening. Went down to the spot on the seawall to eat which was great. We didn't get to use the pool table but I'm sure if we stayed more nights it would still be worth it. Overall I would book here again, the beach is a walk away which is a plus. Overall great experience. 2 thumbs up.

Close to the beach and accommodated 9 people comfortably!

  • 4 of 5

Great house if you want to be near a semi-private beach! Had everything we needed in the kitchen and beds for all 9 of us-which isn't easy to find. The game room downstairs is a good bonus space and we enjoyed playing fooseball and pool when it rained or was too hot outside. The grill that is there was great and we enjoyed cooking out and the decks have full ocean views. Although we didn't need these items, the house is well stocked with baby/small child items (pack n play, booster seat, toys, etc). The owners are nice and easy to work with and communicative if you have issues while you are there. So glad we found this house for our family vacation!

Some tips: the street is busier than we thought from pictures and people driving to the beach drive way too fast, so be careful if you have small children. Also, the garbage truck only picks up what is IN the garbage cans. When we arrived (on a Saturday), all the trash from the previous guests was filling the cans and on the ground. So after trash pick up, we had to handle other people's trash to get it into the cans before we could put in our own. The shower downstairs is good to have, but be aware that if people are showering upstairs it can affect the temp of the downstairs water (when they turn off and on upstairs).
