Overview

About the property

2 bed/2 bath condo sleeps 6 - oceanview and a few steps to beach!

Beautiful remodeled/redecorated condo with gorgeous ocean view! Drift off to sleep while listening to the water running in the lagoon just below. This is my second home, so, I have taken care to make it beautiful and comfortable. I also own the condo next door. I bought it so that (if desired) you and I can host larger gatherings of family and friends. The two condos can be rented separately or together if you need more space.

The kitchen is fully equipped and offers stainless steel appliances, granite countertops and tile floors. There are 3 large flat screen TV's with cable, DVD players, Washer and Dryer, Iron and Ironing board, all linens including beach towels, CD and Ipod station, Wi-Fi. Everything was replaced- including tubs and toilets! There is a jet tub in the Master Bath. The Master bedroom has a king size, memory foam bed. The second bedroom has a queen bed and a loft twin bed with memory foam mattresses, too. I also have a Frontgate Inflatable queen bed that can be set up in the main living area. Frontgate is the premier inflatable bed. It automatically inflates itself and expands with a frame that sits up off the floor at normal bed height. In the morning, it automatically deflates and folds itself up. This bed is leaps and bounds more comfortable than a sleeper sofa. Other amenities include hardwood floors, leather sofas, a large balcony, etc.

On site, the resort offers 3 pools - one beach side pool, a large family pool with a kiddie pool and an indoor pool with a hot tub. There is an exercise room, tennis courts, shuffle board court, swings, playground and several grilling areas. The resort is located in a very secluded part of the Island between two historical parks. It is in a Bird and Wildlife Santuary. Walk out on the pier and you might catch the dolphins playing nearby! The beach is in a protected area which ensures that it is always be natural, unspoiled and beautiful. The city of Hilton Head Island has just completed a "beach restoration" project and increased the size of our beach. It is beautiful! Our location at the mouth of the Port Royal Sounds slows down the tidal current. It is perfect for small children and those who don't care for large strong waves. Our beach front is perfect for walking along in the surf, building sand castles, finding treasures along the beach and enjoying nature. Little ones love our beach because we do not have the strong waves. If you want the bigger waves to surf or play in, there are several nice beaches along the Atlantic shore line very close by - as are 20+ public golf courses! You will also find several grocery stores, unique shops, chain stores and every type of food and restaurant you can imaging within 2 miles. The Tanger Outlet Mall in just a short drive back over the bridge to the mainland. And, we have a brand new Mall on the Island.

One of my favorite things to do is rent bikes. The trails take you all over the Island without being on the roads (except to cross them). It's a nice, easy, level ride and a great way to explore the Island. The rental companies deliver the bikes to the resort and pick them up when you are finished.

About Sheila Leggett

I currently live in the foothills of North Carolina's Blue Ridge Mountains. I love the mountains and the ocean! Recently I was fortunate in making a dream come true by buying a place by he ocean. This is my second home and may one day be my primary home. My passion is writing and this place is the perfect retreat to clear my mind and sooth my soul.

Sheila Leggett purchased this condo in 2011

Why Sheila Leggett chose South Carolina

I have vacationed in Hilton Head many times and have always loved the atmosphere. Everything is so clean, beautiful and natural. I chose this resort because it is truly a hidden treasure. Tucked away from the busy tourist areas, this resort offers a secluded and unspoiled beach. I love walking along the beach at low tide searching for treasures the tide has left behind. I just couldn't imagine a home at the beach without being able to see the water. I was very fortunate to find the perfect spot with a beautiful view of the ocean...during the summer, I can watch the sun disappear into the sea. Sitting on the balcony drinking my morning coffee, I watch boats entering and leaving the Port Royal sound.

What makes this condo unique

When I first visited the property, my daughter and I sat in the porch swing along side the beach and absolutely fell in love with this place. I knew this is where I wanted to be. I just had to wait until an water view unit became available. When my Realtor sent me a photo of the view from this unit, I couldn't believe it. The balcony overlooking the gardens and lagoon leading out to the beach was perfect! I told her to go into the unit and make sure the photo was actually taken from this unit. It was and I bought the unit sight unseen! I knew I could 'fix' the interior but I could never replace the view!

Beautiful place and family friendly (for the most part).

  • 4 of 5

My family and I just returned home from vacationing at The Spa on Port Royal. This was our first trip to Hilton Head Island, and we would love to return in the future. Sheila's condo is beautifully decorated and is in a convenient spot located near all the pools and the sound. While small, there was still plenty of room for four adults and two children.

During low tide, there is ample room to explore the beach. We found several beautiful sea shells and stumbled upon lots of horseshoe crabs, fiddler crabs, conch, and other various things. The beach at the sound is very kid friendly. The sand is not the typical white sand beach you'd expect to play on and build sand castles. This is not a very good swimming beach as it is not very deep, but that was OK with me since my children are only three and five. We did venture to Coligny Beach for a day, and that was a lot of fun as well...very crowded though.

There really is nothing bad that I can say about this condo except for the fact that the downstairs neighbors were very rude and unfriendly. They are the only reason I'm not giving this listing five stars. The first full day we were there they were banging on the ceiling, however, I didn't realize that was the noise I was hearing until the next night. This time the lady was knocking on the door at 8:30p telling us to keep the pitter patter of feet down. Apparently my two girls (5 and 3) were having too much fun playing hide and seek while on vacation. I didn't realize they were being so loud when they walked/ran. So, we spent the rest of the vacation reprimanding our children while we were inside the condo trying to keep them quiet, which still wasn't enough. They continued to bang on the ceiling which in turn really ticked me off because we were trying our best to keep the noise down, but anyone with small children knows that is almost impossible. I would love to visit this condo again, but may choose otherwise because of the neighbors.

Aside from that....we had a great time and really liked Hilton Head Island. There is plenty to do and would definitely recommend the condo for anyone wanting to visit the area...just keep a check on the pitter patter of little feet running around.

Wonderful comfortable condo with amazing views of the sound

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at many condos at the spa on port royal sound. This condo was definitely one of our favorites. The condo was very nice while still being comfortable. The beds were comfortable and ensured a great night of rest which is important to a relaxing vacation. We loved the location of the condo. Being on the second floor it has great views of the sound and the one set of stairs is easily walkable multiple times per day. The kitchen layout was nice and open and the appliances well cared for. We also loved that this condo still has an open air porch where many on the property are now screened in and enclosed. It was great for that early morning coffee while watching the beautiful water and listening to the fountains outside. Sheila was wonderful to work with and very responsive to questions. We frequent HH often both for work and for pleasure and will definitely return to this condo hopefully as soon as possible. For others trying to decide between staying on the beach and on the sound for the quiet I would urge you to give it a try. Driessen Beach access with affordable pay to park spaces is only a few minutes away with an easy boardwalk, bathrooms, showers etc. and then you get to return to your peaceful place at the spa. The only thing that might be improved is a few more pot/ pans in the kitchen but I am an avid cook and usually use everything in the cupboards when making a meal. For that first night in when renting I would highly recommend TJ's Take and Bake pizzas as a stop on your way into the condo to make settling in easy. Thanks again Sheila for letting us share your small piece of paradise.

Beautiful villa on quiet beach

  • 5 of 5

We were only here for 2 nights, but will definitely return. The villa is quaint and comfortable. Everything you need to come and not leave until checkout, except food! The location is perfect for beach access. Lots of private beach space and the water is great, very gentle, no big waves. Low tide goes way out so you have lots of beach to explore. The resort has 2 outdoor pools and 1 indoor pool, we didn't use any of them, but nice to have. There is also a brand new pier to enjoy.

Sheila was great to work with, responded quickly to any questions. It sleeps 5 comfortably in the beds provided. I would recommend this place and will return in the future.

Perfect Stay

  • 5 of 5

There really aren't any surprises if you read the owner's info and view the pictures... which was very nice. The unit was very clean, kitchen was fantastic, and everything worked fine. We had no problems at all. Anyone we encountered (including the full time residents) were very nice if we happened to pass by them. The area was very quiet and peaceful. Beach is very quiet and peaceful... we felt we had the entire place to ourselves even with the few people who were there. There is a nature park on both sides of the condo units and you can access the trails from the beach if you walk a little ways down either side. The pricing for this unit was great considering other places that were charging the same rates didn't have the view, had no storage space (dressers, ect), or the size of the unit was smaller... which is why we decided on this place. This place was big enough for the 3 of us to move freely, we had plenty of room for our clothes or to put things, and the view is really nice. There are Hilton Head magazines in a basket beside the couch in the living room area which is great if you are looking for places to dine or things to do. I highly suggest bringing water shoes if you plan on walking at the water's edge because we did encounter jelly fish on the beach (which the owner did mention this area is full of aquatic life so this wasn't a surprise to us). The security guards were helpful. Overall, I couldn't find a thing wrong with the place. The owner was very upfront and honest on what to expect and very fair with pricing. You'll feel you got your money's worth with this place. Very grateful we got to stay here.

Week accommodation on trip up coast of Florida, Georgia and South Carolina

  • 4 of 5

Pleasant condo with good location on the island. Downside is congestion of Hilton Head. Chose this site for approximation to Savannah, Bluffton and Beaufort which are more interesting than Hilton Head.

Great spot!

  • 4 of 5

Such a quiet, lovely location! It was nice to find a natural beach to explore that wasn't full of tourists and buildings! Sheila was fantastic to work with and the condo is full of everything you would need to make your stay comfy. We are a family of five with three little kids, just a heads up for others, if you're debating between bringing the big pack n play or the little one, go smaller. I did a little furniture rearranging to get ours to fit in the master room. (If you don't need a crib, there is plenty of kid sleeping space already available.). We also had trouble with the downstairs neighbors claiming we were too loud ("too much stomping" -- our toddler hasn't mastered his tip toe, we were pretty helpless)...but I hear we're the only ones to have this trouble, so hopefully that won't be a future issue. Would definitely recommend! Especially if you are light on your feet! ;)

Owner's Response: Thanks so much! And, i'm sure your toddler was fine. The neighbor you mentioned was a temporary guest who is now gone. My son has 4 children that he brings, so we are used to having children here. In fact, I think this is a wonderful place for children!

Located on Hilton Head Island at the mouth of the Port Royal Sound, this resort is a hidden treasure. The beach is secluded and private - great for beachcombing. At low tide this is the best claiming area on the Island! Yet just a short drive or bike ride to restaurants, shopping, etc.
