We came ( for the first time ) to Scotland in search of ' downtime '. Elmbank and it's location absolutely delivered. The house itself is spacious, peaceful and comfortable in a pleasant homey way. The area is beautiful and peaceful, a little remote but that worked for us. We enjoyed our ferry trips to Tarbert for the more exotic needs, daily necessities being readily available locally. There are a couple of excellent cafes and restaurants in the immediate area that are walkable. A few weeks and a couple of trips later, we are still talking about how much we loved our stay there. Alison was always super fast to respond to the very few questions we had. Looking forward to next year.
Spectacular view from spacious yet cosy house
We loved waking up to the view - different every day. Gannets diving, seals, boats, deer in the garden.
House has high ceilings- spacious, light and airy and coped well with 6 of us including 3 teenagers. The piano was a highlight. On chillier days it was nice to cosy up to the woodburning stove or Rayburn.
Great to be able to walk to the village along the waterfront. We made use of the golf club, tennis court (free) and launched our boat from opposite the house. Catching mackerel from only a short distance off shore was a highlight.
The locals were friendly- even rescuing us when we capsized our sailing dinghy!
Glad to hear that you had a lovely time. Thanks so much for your kind words.
Lovely, spacious, apartment in a stunning location.
My husband and I recently stayed in the property with our three young children. It was perfect for our needs. Clean, comfortable, and spacious. The owners were very attentive and kind. Tighnabruaich itself provides stunning scenery and we enjoyed strolling into the village and letting the kids clamber over the rocks on the shore line. We also travelled further afield to Loch Lomond and the surrounding area. There is so much to do and the children had a brilliant time. I would highly recommend going over to Bute and visiting the spectacular Mount Stuart. We would definitely recommend this property.
Thank you for your kind words, so glad you enjoyed your stay at Elmbank.
Outstanding property, in outstanding area of natural beauty.
This was our first visit to Scotland. And we chose this property for it's value for money, it's size and sleeping accommodation. And we where so glad we did, everything about our holiday stay was exemplary, the property was huge(compared to our little house back home) the vista and view outside our bedroom window was genuinely breathtaking. The locals, and scottish people where very friendly( I am from England and if you know our history our two peoples where not always the best of friends, usually the fault of our ruling monarch at the time, King Edward(The long Shanks) springs to mind.) Using Home&Away to book our accommodation gives you that extra peace of mind should(and in our case no problemos) any difficulties arise with your rental they will be able to deal with it.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday in Scotland, and we will definately be coming back!
Good quality, scenic views, good support
The property was exactly as described with wonderful views from main bedroom and living room. Able to explore two local villages on foot easily, and much more of Argyll and Bite by car and ferry. Owner provided good communications and support.
Thanks for your kind words. Thank you for biscuits etc. much appreciated but not necessary.
Fantastic house and location
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Fabulous views from living room and master bedroom. Our son loved playing the piano and all enjoyed the various board games.
Thank you for your kind words.
Elmbank is situated on Shore Road and has spectacular views across the Kyles of Bute. There is a rocky beach directly across from the house, great for the kids to explore.
The house itself has 3 bedrooms and can sleep up to 7. The lounge has a baby grand piano for the musician in you.
There is a large, private, secluded garden to the front & rear of the property. (please note there is steep banking to rear of property and it is not fenced in)
There is a variety of eating places which specialise in local seafood, home farmed meat, game and wild venison, all within walking distance of the house. A short ferry ride from Portavadie will take you across to the fishing village of Tarbert, where you can purchase freshly landed fish and seafood.
Golf: Local 9 hole golf course in Kames - Honesty Box system operated here. Sailing - courses operated at Tighnabruaich Sailing School.
