About Owner/Manager

Joy and Larry Kleefeld: Owning a piece of paradise in Hawaii has been a lifelong dream of ours and we are very happy to share our vacation home with you on your next Hawaiian vacation. We have 6 children, and 7 grandchildren. Joy is involved with patient care at a local hospital. Larry is a chiropractor, looking at retirement on September 15, 2018. We are hoping to spend a good part of the year in Kona after retirement. We enjoy spending time with each other, family and friends, and our avid cyclists and snow sport enthusiasts.

For us Hawaii is a very special place. With the ocean, spectacular sunsets from the lanai, sightseeing and water activities including snorkeling, scuba diving and deep-sea fishing, Kona is an easy choice.

What makes this condo unique

We chose Kailua-Kona with its unique weather, dry climate, beaches and recreation including scuba diving, snorkeling, boogie boarding and surfing. It is well known for the Iron Man Triathlon.

This was a perfect fit for us as we needed a 2 bedroom place close to downtown Kona we had a large group of 4 adult and 4 kids every one had a place to sleep. We didn’t spend a lot of time in the condo its Hawaii the location allowed every one to have many options, use the pool on site, walk to a beach, shop in town, or load into the car and explore the Big Island. The owners were very helpful and have a nice unit would love to stay again.

Perfect location, wonderful home!

We loved this condo! It was decorated so warm and cozy; so many personal touches throughout the home.(love the hula girl lamp!) It was very clean and well supplied with everything you need. We also met the cleaning lady who lives on the grounds and said to get in touch with her should we need anything.

We will definitely return!

Kona condo

This is a very well situated condo with easy access to restaurants and

entertainment. I gave it 4 stars because the upstairs bedroom needs another air conditioner.

The best way to get relief upstairs is to open the upstairs window and aim the fan up the stairway after sunset.

It is well equipped for cooking and we had no problems using the shared gas grills on site. Overall a good experience

Great home base for exploring the Big Island!

Thank you for letting us enjoy your home! We were visiting with our daughter, son in-law and two grandchildren (2 and 9). The home was incredibly comfortable and served us well for our visit. It is an easy walk to Ali'i Drive and everything it has to offer as well as grocery stores and the Kona Brewery. The "Baby Beach" next to the pier was perfect for our toddler and a very short walk. The condo has everything you would need for the beach and we made great use of the boogie boards at Magic Sands Beach, a short 5 minute drive away. The pop-up canopy was a lifesaver for the intense sun! We toured the entire island and nothing was more than two hours away (Volcano, Hilo, Hawi, etc.) We made great use of the kitchen as well as the grills down by the pool. We only swam in the pool once as the ocean is almost as close! We cannot recommend this property highly enough and would definitely stay again if we have the opportunity to return to the island!

Lovely Condo; Fabulous Location

We enjoyed our stay here very much. The location was ideal for us because it allowed us to walk to Ali'i Drive and not to have to battle it out for parking (or pay to park). Also, since we only rented one car, it allowed our family to split up if we wanted to. If one of us wanted to just hang out and shop or get lunch, while the rest of us wanted to go off and explore the island, that was no problem at all.

The condo itself had a nice layout and view. There was plenty of room for our family, and the unit had just about everything we needed (we did have to buy a few things to stock it, such as hangers, plastic wrap and bags, reusable plastic containers, garbage bags, and dishwasher and laundry detergent--even a small family is going to need to wash more than 3 loads of dishes in 10 days). I would add, also, that the master bedroom upstairs is open to the living area below. This wasn't clear from the description and photos of the unit. It was perfectly fine for us, but it may not be ideal for guests who prefer more privacy.

As for the complex, it was nice, but we did feel a bit like interlopers at the pool. There are a lot of permanent residents in this complex, and we didn't always feel a welcoming vibe when residents were using the pool.

Lastly, pack light! It wasn't fun hauling 250 plus pounds of baggage up all of those flights of stairs. Our situation was a bit unusual, as we were spending a month in the islands and needed to pack accordingly.

Comfortable and convenient

This place was a perfect jumping off point for us. If you're looking for shops and restaurants within walking distance, this is a great place. We also had a rental car so we used this as home base, but took many day trips to other parts of the island for hiking and swimming.

Great location, near the markets and beaches, very quiet.

The condo was great. Had all the cooking pans and plates that we needed. The upstairs bedroom was hard to cool but the downstairs was great. Loved the area. We could walk down to the shops during the day and evening. We did lots of grilling by the pool. Would stay here again for sure.
