About Ross and Nancy Kirkham

I guess I've been in love with the West for as long as I can remember. I grew up with stories of my Father's childhood on ranches in the Roaring Fork Valley of Western Colorado, before tractors came to that country. My Mother's Father was a book and record collector and had a wonderful collection of Western History and Art Literature.

In the last 36 years I've worked as a Ranch Hand, Range Rider, Horse Shoer, House Carpenter, Dude Wrangler, Hunting Guide and last but not least a Camp Cook. I've been doing pencil and pen drawings for most of that time. I've also, been playing guitar and writing songs for about 25 years now, which still surprises me?

My wife, Nancy and I live on the ranch, we raise hay, Skipper W Quarter Horses and Hell once in a while!

Come and see us! Ross

Beautiful place

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was wonderful. The home was immaculate. Ross and Nancy could not have been friendlier or more helpful. We will consider this place again for another visit. Very quiet and beautiful. Thank you!

Perfect Place for Family Time

  • 5 of 5

Our large family (7) wrapped up our vacation of 2 weeks with a stay at the Kirkham Ranch. The house is very well equipped with plenty of sleeping and eating space. Although early July temps were in the 90's, the house stayed nice and cool with the swamp cooler, and temps dropped into the 60's at night. We especially enjoyed the views and investigating the small Western Slope towns around the ranch! We loved Ross's artwork on the walls of the house, as well as the beautiful furniture he made in the house. The house was absolutely spotless, there were plenty of towels, and Nancy was easily reached with questions and suggestions. On the down side, the internet was limited (not necessarily a bad thing!) and the beds were quite firm (but that didn't stop us from having a good night's rest). The ranch is within easy driving distance of the Grand Mesa (GORGEOUS), Colorado fruit orchards, rafting on the Gunnison, Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, and numerous outdoor adventure opportunities. We would go back in an instant!

Very spacious & clean w/ an ADA accessible bathroom Great option for large fam or grp.

  • 4 of 5

Very spacious and clean. Walls are thin so was able to enjoy the snoring in the next room. Master bed is very worn so not comfortable for anyone with a sensitive back. 2 other bedrooms and a great room also with a bed (where I ended up for comfort). Very remote location. Will be 15 minutes to any conveniences and further for points of Interest. Very kind owners always on site/available. Friendly dog greeted us one evening upon return. High desert surroundings. If need a large place again, would return.
