Once a former Baptist Church, this property has been lovingly restored to a mountain cottage. The cottage coexists within nature and the beautiful mountain landscape. It transports you back to a by-gone time. This former country church will soothe your soul, refresh your senses, and offers a cool eclectic vibe with various decor from local mountain artisans. The cottage is decorated in local Appalachian folk art including quilts, photography, paintings, and pottery. It is conveniently located to many of the High Country attractions, festivals, hiking trails, lakes, rivers and activities. The cottage is situated on 2.5 acres that has an old fashion herb garden, (lemon balm, oregano, lamb's ear, mint, mullein and wild flowers) plenty of wildlife, and wonderful mountain views. Relax on the rear deck and listen to the relaxing sounds from the babbling creek that borders the property. Some of the original features of the former Church includes the Church bell which is still operational! In the backyard, there are His & Her outhouses! And lastly, one original pew remains. Get back to a simpler existence and coexist with an authentic mountain spiritual retreat. Peace Out!

Phenomenal stay with thoughtful touches
Our stay at The Coexist Cottage was nothing less than magical. Jane was very communicative throughout the whole process. The Coexist Cottage had so many thoughtful touches that made the cabin feel like an easy escape. Jane had treats, toys, and a bed ready for my dog. The linens were super soft and comfortable; I loved the Boho Boutique blankets--they were fabulous! The cabin was fully stocked with firewood so we could enjoy a fire during the cold nights. I followed Jane's directions to get to Beech Mountain and they were A+ (Google maps had us taking a longer route that was almost triple the time). This spot had been on our radar to visit for a while now; I'm so glad we finally got to experience The Coexist Cabin.
Very quite and peaceful
A very quite and enjoyable weekend,
House was very clean, plenty of fire wood which was very nice on the cold nights.
Over all a very nice stay.
Our pet enjoyed his surprise toys ........
Beautiful and cozy cottage! Dog friendly! Super close to tons of hiking trails and skiing!
Jane was wonderful to work with too! She made everything so easy and comfortable for us. She even had little dog treats and a bed for our dog! I would highly recommended this cabin for any couple looking for a getaway to remember!
The property was everything we hoped for, quiet and relaxing. I would definitely stay here again.
Me and my gf had a great time while staying at the coexist cabin. Everything was neat and in order. It's a sweet cozy cabin. If you want a private retreat this is the place.
New Years In The Mountains
Beautifully restored Church converted into a mountain cabin with old time charm and décor. Beautiful hardwood floors, fully stocked modern granite kitchen and bathrooms, cozy fireplace and front and rear porches. Our family spent a whole week encompassing New Years Eve. Got some snow and used the GPS to get to Beech Mountain Resort to do some sledding. Was only 5 miles away (don't take Pinnacle Rd - use Pine Ridge Rd.) Did some hiking on trails nearby, but mostly relaxed by the fire and on the porch and eating home cooked meals. So much better than staying in a modern condo or hotel. Restored the soul and body. Was sad to leave, could have stayed a month or more. Felt like home sweet home. If your looking for a mountain retreat with charm and character this is the place.
The history of Beech Mountain Community can be traced back to when the Cherokee Indians traveled through the area in search of its many elk, bear, and deer. Historians believe that the area was once a part of the Great Trading Path which stretched all the way from Virginia to Georgia, and which Indians as well as white men used. Arrowheads and other Indian artifacts have been discovered which verify this, along with a tree thought to have been marked by Indians traveling on the path. It is thought that this marked tree helped the first white settlers discover and settle in the Beech Mountain area. As more and more people moved into the settlements, communities began to form around the churches which the earlier settlers had begun. These churches became the center point of people's lives, serving various functions such as schools, community meeting places, and the center of social life, with families walking back and forth to them with lanterns. Even today, Beech Mountain Community itself consists of five smaller communities -- Mt. Gilead, Fall Creek, Flat Springs, Beech Valley, and Beech Mountain -- all of which formed around churches of the same name which make up their center. The Township of Beech Mountain (aka The Beech Mountain Community) is not within city limits, but located in the rural portion of the community. This part of Beech Mountain is still close to skiing, Buckeye lake, a network of hiking trails, Watauga Lake, 25 minutes to Boone, 1.5 mile to Beech Mountain Trail System (Westerly Hills Trail), 20 minutes to Mast General Store in Valle Crucis, less than 10 minutes to Watauga River & Trash Can Falls. There is so much outdoor activities to do from Hiking, Mountain Biking, Skiing, Fishing, Boating, and so much more.
