Overview

About the property

Cabin, 1 Bedroom 1.5+ Baths, (Sleeps 2)

If privacy, peace and quiet is what you want, try our like new 2004' cabin, situated on 4.7 acres of hardwood forest, in the NORTH GEORGIA MOUNTAINS.

Go down a gentle path and relax next to the winding, spring fed creek or follow it into the adjoining 400 acres of rarely used US FOREST SERVICE land for more active exploring and hiking.

The thick carpet of ferns in this part of the forest during warmer months (it's never hot) adds to the already impressive natural beauty of the site. You see no other homes from the cabin.

Cricket Creek is ideal for couples. The main level master bedroom has a king size log bed under a vaulted ceiling and includes a DEEP two-person spa for unwinding.

There is a full bath with shower, and washer and dryer on the main level.

The great room's pine ceiling peaks 20 feet above a plush leather couch just perfect for watching a movie.

French doors take you from your recliner, in front of the gas log fireplace, to the large covered & screened rear porch (one of three) which offers a gas grill, breakfast table and of course, rockers. (Look for the tree 'elf' from here).

Our cabin is completely furnished with everything you need from modern appliances and kitchen needs to linens and towels. There's even high speed wireless internet and unlimited domestic long distance telephone.

You will be secluded enough for abundant wildlife but only a 15 minute drive from Blairsville's shops and stores. The cabin's location provides easy access to area activities and attractions such as Vogel State Park, the Appalachian Trail, Benton MacKay Trail (one-half mile), mountain biking, the Blueridge Railroad, antiquing and shopping in Blairsville, Blueridge and Helen.

About Tom Wammack

Tom & Marcie live in the Fla. Keys and have visited the North Georgia Mountains for 15 years. They have owned a vacation/rental cabin there since 2001, first in Helen and now Blairsville.

Tom Wammack purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Tom Wammack chose Northeast Mountains

To build our new cabin, we were looking for several acres with both creek and USFS frontage that was easy to walk on (not an easy task). After two years of looking we finally found this property which checked all the boxes.

What makes this cabin unique

The best thing about Cricket Creek is the feeling of seclusion. Even though you are only 15 minutes from town you don't see any other developement from our property. It's very peacefull here.

Our 1/4 mile walking trail along the creek is the property feature most often mentioned by our guests as their favorite property feature.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I just wanted you to know that your web site pictures do not do justice to your cabin. My wife and I enjoyed it tremendously. Very peaceful and tranquill. I am sure we will be visiting again in the future.

Great Place to Unwind

  • 5 of 5

I am a science teacher and a doctoral candidate. I came to Cricket Creek for the quiet and aloneness to finish two very important reports; national board certification and dissertation proposal. Cricket Creek is awesome. It is so quiet here and no one in sight. I was able to get all my writing done! I will definitely return (and bring my husband next time)

The “extras” are very kind and a nice touch. It seems the owners have thought of everything. I felt so welcome and at home here. Definitely a great place to relax and unwind.

IMMACULATE, WARM & INVITING

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful, immaculate, warm and inviting cabin! it was just perfect in every way. We had such a wonderful, happy and relaxing stay here. It could not have been better!

We couldn't get over the décor and all the finishing touches throughout. We truly appreciated and enjoyed the beauty and cleanliness inside and out. The notes around the cabin were so thoughtful and made everything so user friendly, thank you. We loved the fireplace (so easy) and the comfortable furniture, especially the bed, we slept great!

Could go on and on. Amazing!! Also the owners are so friendly and great through the rental process.

Just perfect!

Fall Getaway in the Blue Ridge Mountains

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I were looking for a relaxing place to enjoy the fall foliage and Cricket Creek cabin was the perfect place for it. The cabin is immaculate and beautifully decorated. It has comfortable beds and every convenience you need for a romantic getaway. The fireplace is easy to use and makes the cabin cozy at night. We enjoyed quiet walks on the path that runs through the property. There many beautiful drives and hikes a short distance from the cabin. I recommend Cricket Creek cabin for a romantic getaway.

Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

We needed a few days of relaxation and this was the perfect place for it. Everything we could have needed was there. The cabin is beautiful and very clean. It was so quiet and peaceful. We used all three decks and loved the fireplace. I would highly recommend this cabin for anyone looking to get away from it all.

High-light of Our Trip

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at your house in the mountains. It was one of the high-lights of our trip. I know you get a lot of accolades and I would endorse all of them. The house is really comfortable in and of itself, but the King bed is excellent.

The décor is really something and a great and interesting collection. The kitchen layout worked well, and was populated with just about anything we could think of.

The TV, Wi-Fi, grill; all excellent. (And Jim’s Que – the big-combo for lunch plus 3 days of to-go food. Amazing)

Although the weather was warm, it did not preclude our using the screened porch quite a bit – the Kindles got a workout. The air conditioning didn’t miss a beat and kept the place very comfortable. The little trail around the house area was a hoot.

I will mention how easy and smooth the rental process was. Your responsive and helpful communications were a welcome change from some of our past experiences.

Thanks again, you guys, it was really a pleasure and we really will seek to do it again when in the area.

Wonderful Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I came up here to recharge our batteries after the stress of the holidays. We couldn't have picked a better place! The cabin is so secluded which was exactly what we were looking for. The cabin came stocked with games, every kitchen utensil you would need, a cozy fireplace, amazing tub, and really just everything! It was clean, the king bed was super comfy, and the porch was great to sit out on in the morning. I would recommend this rental to any and everyone and I know we will be back!
