About Sandra & Steven Ackley
Steven decided for our 25th wedding anniversary to buy Sandra her Rocky Mountain dream home. When Steven and Sandra met; Steven had never ski-d. He learned that first ski season and now skis circles around Sandra. Our boys (Alex and Nick) both started skiing at the age of 3 in ski school. By the time they were 10 or 11 they had "graduated" out of ski school per their instructor. Therefore all of the men in Sandra's life ski circles around her. Steven and Sandra met at Kansas State University. Steven's employer took the family to Wilmington, DE where we really have raised our family. Our boys played peewee sports: football, wrestled, baseball. Steven coached all till Junior High. Sandra was a team mom where needed. We loved watching our boys play sports but are just as proud of them graduating high school after doing mission trips abroad while still being National Honors students & with 5+ varsity letters each. Fast forward Alex has graduated from KSU in Mech Eng. in 4 yrs.. He is working for Camso opening a new location in Junction City, KS. Alex married his high school sweetheart - so we finally has another girl in our family- Casey. Nick is also at KSU a KSU grad but in Chem Eng. He is working for Zeeca out of Tulsa OK. Recently God made an opportunity for Steven & Sandra to move to the Denver area - so we're enjoying being closer. We are looking forward to how God is directing each of us. We are all very active in our little worlds but when the Mountain calls - we like to answer! We hope you love and cherish your time at our home as much as we do!
Sandra & Steven Ackley purchased this House in 2016
Why Sandra & Steven Ackley chose Quandary Village
This property spoke to both of us. It has 3 fireplaces, heated floors, AMAZING VIEWS, really TWO master bedrooms / 5 bathrooms / 2 bedrooms with Queen size bunk beds and a 7 person hot tub! WHY NOT THIS PROPERTY??? Honestly my dear Grandparents had a real ranch house in SE Kansas. The Flying C Bar was our actual brand. There my grandparents not only raised Angus cattle, but had a wildlife refuge. They taught us the value of good strong family time and wild life. We love watching the deer or moose come by our back doors. This home for us honors their legacy they gave me - Sandra Lynn Coonrod Ackley.

Great Family Getaway
We loved every part of our stay at Sandra & Steven's home. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed, beds were comfortable, living areas perfect for relaxing & the location is just amazing. We'll be back again for sure!
Very glad your family enjoyed your time in our home. Looking forward to your visit again soon.
Spent a quick 3 days at the property for getaway weekend. House was just as it appears in the pictures and very clean. House was very close to hiking trail heads and one that can be reached starting at the house. Nice hot tube for relaxing after a hike. Great stay, sure to be back.
Excellent mountain home! Even better property manager!
Property is so awesome! In a beautiful neighborhood! Hike nearby. Great views of Quandary in the neighborhood through the trees. And the property manager is so kind and quick to answer with any problems.
Labor Day in Breck
We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful home high in the mountains above Breck. A short drive to Breck for dining , shopping, etc. , but away from the holiday weekend crowds. Sandra was great to work with; the entire process smooth and easy. The home was furnished to accommodate any type of group including baby and toddlers. Kitchen was fully loaded with pots, pans, and utensils, and an extensive supply of staples. We enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub and the peace and beauty of the Colorado Rockies.
A Little Slice of Heaven in the Rockies
Wow! This home is truly wonderful and the views are absolutely amazing! We loved the peace and quiet of staying high up in the mountains with the convenience of being able to come down into town when needed. The home itself had everything we could possibly need and the two separate floors of living space made it perfect for multiple families. We also loved sitting in the hot tub and enjoying a nice fire under the stars. Most importantly, the hosts were an absolute dream to work with and made sure that our every need was taken care of. The next time we are in the area we will certainly stay at this home again and we cannot recommend it enough! Thank you for allowing us to stay in this beautiful property!
Thank you for your such kind words. We too love having two separate living rooms so everyone can relax and enjoy time together. The hot tub and fire pit are also two of our favorites as well.
Looking forward to your return.
Excellent property for larger groups
This is a great property for larger groups — ours consisted of was 7 men — with plenty of space and well-appointed facilities. Beautiful site with easy access to terrific recreational opportunities as well as restaurants and shopping in the town of Breckenridge. One caveat: the property is located at almost 12,000 feet elevation so if anyone in your party is susceptible to altitude issues this could be a problem. (However, our group consisted of 4 people who live at sea level and it was not an issue for anyone, although there was some huffing and puffing after climbing the steps fro the lower level.)
Thank you for your kind words. I so giggled what you said about the steps. Most people do huff & puff the first few times up our stairs but like your friends from sea level - we lived 400 ft above sea level for over 25 years. Altitude effects we've seen very little of as well.
Anyway - LOVED having your guys long weekend at our home. We hope your group is able to come back soon.
