We've had every kind of event you can imagine here. Marriage encounters, weddings, funerals. Everytime, incredible memories are made and life-long friendships formed.
Many memories have been made sitting and talking on the porch. On bourbon trail, avail Bourbon Festival activities in september.
I will not stay at the log cabin again. Within 5 minutes of being inside a member of our party was stung by a wasp. The inside of the cabin definitely had a problem with wasps. No one in my party could figure out how to operate the fireplace and there were no directions.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the cabin with family. The view from the front porch was amazing and we sat in the rockers or on the swing for hours just visiting and soaking it all in. We built fires in the firepit on two evenings and enjoyed sitting around the fire with the same views. The weather was incredibly good for our visit and the full Hunter's moon on Saturday evening was absolutely amazing looking through the trees down the hill over the farm house. The cabin was comfortable and had everything we needed. On one cool evening, we enjoyed the fireplace. It was interesting to look at the collection of antiques, quilts, and farm implements. We spent an afternoon in Bernheim Forest and hiked one of the trails there. It is a beautiful park with many trails and a large lake. George was very friendly and helpful. Finally, we enjoyed the visits from the farm dog, that we were calling Moxxie, but may have gotten that wrong. I am hopeful that we will be able to stay in this cabin again at some time, it was hard to leave.
We spent a weekend with my brother and his wife and had a great time just relaxing and enjoying the cabin. The views are spectacular. Unfortunately it was a drizzly weekend so exploring the nearby trails wasn't an option, but we enjoyed Bardstown (we went to My Old Kentucky Home State Park to tour the Stephen Foster Mansion) and stopped by the Talbott Tavern for a light refreshment before heading back to the cabin. We played lots of games during the evening and enjoyed the gas fireplace. All in all it was a great getaway with family. The kitchen was well stocked for meal preparation and there were plenty of towels and warm quilts.
George was very helpful when we arrived. If we go back to that area, we would definitely stay there again.
From the moment I walked in the door I felt like I was at my Grandmother's house. We loved Bubba and Doxie. Traveling with three children is always an adventure and they loved every moment of this one. (Even being without the internet, they survived). The cabin was very clean and well maintained. I would recommend that you stop at a bigger town for groceries, there is only a small store locally with limited supplies. We traveled into Louisville and Makers Mark Distillery. This is a perfect location . If we are ever down this way again, we will FOR SURE stay here.
We loved the property! Our group of 6 was very comfortable. Spent the most time sitting on the porch. Not too far from Bardstown, it was the perfect escape. We even loved the dogs on the property!
All the other reviews have adequately described this location. This is a fantastic location, 30 minutes from Fort Knox, 10-15 minutes from Elizabethtown, and 45 minutes from Louisville, yet away from everything. We stayed for 12 days as a family of five, and loved everything about the place. The cabin is extremely rustic, but has the modern necessities, including air conditioning. We stayed during an extremely hot period in the summer, and the cabin was still nice and cool when we returned. Nothing but positive experiences throughout the stay.
