I grew up in nearby Geneva and have spent part of every summer at the cottage since I was a child. My wife and I have degrees from Alfred University and SUNY Geneseo. Our family has many warm and special memories from times spent at the cottage.
Richard purchased this cottage in 2001
This property has been in my family since the 1930s. This area on the east shore of Seneca Lake once was a large park with a dance pavilion and picnic areas known as Pastime Park. It was divided and sold to individuals in the 1930's, and remains a secluded, private area just 5 miles from Geneva.
Being on the east shore of the lake, the sun filters through the trees in the morning, and shade lingers on parts of the lawn during the day. Refreshing breezes may blow across the water until late afternoon. Typically, there are beautiful, quiet sunsets in the evening.
This place was awesome. It was so cute and had everything we needed. It was also very clean. The English muffins, eggs, milk & orange justice were very much appreciated. There were also some condiments and coffee that the owners left for us to use. The view is amazing. It was cold when we were there, but would be amazing to sit out on the balcony and dock in warmer weather. The only thing I would change is that the upstairs beds were a little uncomfortable. But the rest of the amenities made up for it. Would stay again.thank you for opening your home up to visitors!
The cottage is well equipped. Beds were very comfortable. Plenty of towels. Kitchen had everything we needed and our hosts left us milk, eggs, English muffins and oj! Would absolutely recommend. It was a little too cold for us to get out on the lake but in warmer weather you could really enjoy the private lake front.
Richard & Sue took care of every detail to ensure that our stay was comfortable. They left a large umbrella near where our car would be parked because rain was in the forecast. They had fresh juice and eggs in the fridge for us. There was a flashlight near the front door so that we could see to unlock the door... Get the picture?
We have rented a lot of vacation homes with extended family and so I can say that this is unusual!
The house itself was just perfect for my husband and myself. We had everything we needed and the bed was super comfy also.
We loved being by the lake but wish that the weather had been a little better to enjoy it more.
The finger lakes region is special and beautiful! We enjoyed the wine tastings and several hikes to see waterfalls in the area.
We had a wonderful stay at Richard and Sue's cottage. Perfect location and such beautiful surroundings, wished we could've stayed longer! Thank you for your hospitality, we hope to return soon.
Our 2 night stay was so very enjoyable.....loved the location on Seneca Lake and the cottage was the perfect size for our needs. Very clean and offered so many extras you would not find in a hotel. Owner provided so much information prior to our arrival and was very accessible if needed. Exploring winery's in the Finger Lakes from this desirable location was wonderful. Would definitely recommend this property for a group of 3-4 people.
We would definitely recommend this vacation home. The views are beautiful. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. The bed was very comfortable. The deck is large and inviting overlooking the lake. The location is very quiet & private yet close to downtown Geneva. The dock on the lake is great although we didn't get to canoe or kayak we did get to spend some time sitting on the dock enjoying the view of Seneca Lake. Thanks to Richard & Sue for their hospitality.
Check-in time is 3PM, and check-out is no later than 11AM.
There are many wineries nearby that offer tastings and tours. Also nearby are 3 state parks: Seneca Lake State Park, Sampson State Park, and Cayuga State Park. The National Women's Hall of Fame which is a national historic site, The Finger Lakes National Forest, and Rose Hill Mansion are all within a half hour drive. Beautiful Seneca Lake is the deepest of the Finger Lakes and offers swimming, boating, fishing, and spectacular sunsets.
