Why Simon and Kate Williams chose East Jewett
It was the Eastkill Valley that we fell in love with when we first came here in the 1980s. We think that the immediate area will have the same impact on you when you visit it.
What makes this House unique
Both Hunter and Windham Mountains are close by. Hunter is a 10 minute drive, Windham is 15 minutes away. The spectacular Colgate Lake is only1/2 mile further down the road; it is ideal for fishing in the spring, swimming in the summer, and skating or ice fishing in the winter. It is also a perfect place for walking a dog. There are also some longer foot trails which are perfect for hiking and/ or biking the Catskill Mountains.

We had a wonderful time in this cozy and relaxing property. It is conveniently located and Simon & Kate were lovely hosts. Would definitely come back again!
Excellent and Easy
The house was perfect for our two families. One family stayed on the first floor and shared a bathroom. The second family stayed on the second floor and used the second floor bathroom. The kitchen was well equipped. We opted to cook home both nights due to one child’s allergies. We found everything we needed. The kitchen was very clean. The bathrooms had tons of towels and available toiletries. Simon was so easy to work with. He answered all our questions and was literally two minutes away. There was a very significant snowfall while we were here and he made himself available to shovel out the cars and the driveway. We were about an 18 minute drive from the mountain. This was the perfect place to stay with three kids (5th, 6th, and 8th grade). I would definitely recommend it!
Great House - Close to Mountain
This is our third year spending the Christmas holiday weekend here.
Very cozy and well-appointed. Hosts are very responsive. Highly recommend it.
The perfect home-stay away from the bustling city!
This was our second stay at Simon & Kate's and it was outstanding - just as last year! Simon was responsive and always in touch to ensure that we had a great stay. We were happy to have come back to this beautiful and cozy place that is quiet a gem!
The property was very cozy and Simon was great (setting up the fireplace for us upon our arrival). Would highly recommend to any family or group that is looking for a warm/comfy space after a day exploring the Catskills.
Nice and cozy place to stay!
The house is located in the Catskill Mountain Preserve and 1/2 mile walk from Colgate Lake, which is a wild forest preserve. Colgate Lake provides visitors with the following activities: swimming, kayaking, hiking, cross country skiing, fishing, ice fishing, sledding, and hunting.
The house is located halfway between Hunter Mountain and Windham Mountain both of which offer skiing, snowboarding and tubing. Additionally, there are 3 different levels of zip lining at Hunter.
There are several excellent restaurants within a short drive to Tannersville, Hunter and Windham.
In Tannersville we recommend Maggie's Krooked Cafe, The Country Store, and Twin Peaks for breakfast and lunch. For dinner, we recommend Deer Mountain Inn, Pancho Villas (Mexican), Last Chance Cheese (American), American Glory (Southern BBQ), and Chateau Belleview (French).
In Hunter for dinner we recommend Scribner's Prospect (American), and Van Winkles (American).
In Windham, we recommend Michael's Diner, Higher Grounds, and the Windham Country Store for breakfast and lunch. For dinner we recommend Neapolis, Brandywine and Mill Rock (both Italian), Chicken Run (American, good for kids, live music), Cave Mountain brewery, Brie and Bordeaux (French).
