This sun-drenched 4-bedroom, 2-bath 19th-century residence sits on a landscaped field abutting acres of untouched conservation land. Yet it's also within easy walking distance from Wellfleet's village, bay beaches, and harbor.
Our place combines the austere beauty of a whaling captain's home with the care-free pleasures of a summer vacation getaway.
Upstairs provides guests with 3 sunny bedrooms (one contains a queen bed, one has full, and the third contains a twin); a center hall bath; an office nook; and a family room with of board games, and books.
Downstairs there's a spacious living room, dining room, and kitchen, plus a ground-floor master bedroom adjacent to a full bath. The living room is equipped with HD TV, cable, a DVD player, and an Apple TV peripheral suitable for watching films online. A large washing machine and dryer were installed on the ground floor in 2017.
The french doors in the living room open out to a long, broad porch that's perfect for sunset drinks, dining, and the surveillance of children. The porch includes a round table, which seats four or five adults; a folding picnic table; and additional couch seating for four or five.
The house overlooks a vast lawn bordered by privet, lilac, and split-rail fencing. Beyond the lawn: acres of untouched forest. The yard provides plenty of room to run around and play games--football, frisbee, croquet, and bocce gear are generally on hand--or simply relax in Adirondack chairs.
Also outside: a capacious outdoor shower and a functional charcoal grill.
