Very nice

  • 5 of 5

The Beach is beautiful and literally out the back door, but if you are looking for a place to swim this is not the place. There is a lot of Sea grass and rocks along the shoreline, when we first arrived it had obviously been raked, it was a kind effort, but no match for the amount of sea grass the ocean pulls in. (This is found not on this beach, but several around the area). However my kids loved searching the shore for crabs, assorted starfish, eels, and othe marine life. ( The public beach at 7 mile was where we swam!)There is also a kayak that we used and loved! There were pool floaties, swim fins, beach chairs, umbrella, sand toys, snorkeling equipment! The pool is across the road and lovely, five different depths to suit any child's needs. The condo is very nice and slept our family of 8 without any difficulty. It could easily sleep 12-15, with multiple futons! There is adequate linens, towels, dishes and kitchen wares for cooking. There is even a fire out out back that we utilize to roast marshmellows and hotdogs. This condo is a bit out of the main stream town, but a great middle ground to go to 7 mile or run point! We did have a complication with the tv and some ants, but a quick email to the owner and property manager and they were corrected.. Trevan the property manager and Orlando the tv repair man, were very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed their visit! Ken the property manager was very quick to respond to our emails, since our phones were not on an international plan. We would definately stay here again, if given the opportunity to come back. *if you are looking for the ritz Carlton complete with spa and manicuresand all the luxuries , this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for a great family get away with privacy and the sound of the ocean, this is the place!!

The Good and the Bad

  • 3 of 5

We (me, husband, and family friend) stayed at this property for 10 nights last month and had mixed feelings about the place. Overall, there were many great aspects of the property but a couple of bad aspects would probably cause us to stay elsewhere if we returned to the island.

PROS:

1. The property is large, spotlessly clean, and looks exactly like it does in the pictures.

2. We loved the downstairs which we used as a wet room to store our dive/snorkel gear for drying out.

3. Many supplies were provided such as toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, hand soap, etc. These are not always provided in rentals and it was nice not to have to spend extra money to purchase these items.

4. Beds were comfortable, plenty of linens and towels.

5. There are some cats who live around the property. All look clean and healthy. I assume they are strays because they have notches in their ears to indicate they are spayed/neutered. One was particularly friendly and spent lots of time on the main deck with us. We still think about her and miss her.

6. The snorkeling in front of the house is pretty good, although we only saw the standard reef fish. Unfortunately, you have to swim out a bit to get to reef and you have to swim through some pretty good muck and turtle grass. This was true the whole 10 days we were there and there were no storms.

CONS:

1. I would not call this a swimmable beach. Yes, you can snorkel and dive from here but you have to swim out a ways to do so. There were mounds of dead turtle grass all along the beach shore. One day, a crew came and raked it all up but it returned the next day. We weren't looking for 7MB on this side of the island, but I didn't expect this based on the pictures posted.

2. Lack of communication by owner was frustrating. I sent owner an email with questions shortly after booking and never received a response. I had to email him less than a week before arrival to get arrival instructions. We arrived to no electricity without a head's up from owner. This was sorted out within 3 hours but it took me spending $1/minute to call he and the manager several times. The manager promised to check in with us again on Saturday of our trip and we never heard from him again.

3. The a/c is on some kind of pre-set so that you can't adjust it below 75. I paid for an a/c house and if it was to be temp controlled that should have been stated somewhere as in my previous rentals. This did not sufficiently cool for us at night upstairs.

Pictures can be deceiving

  • 2 of 5

Property looks just like the pictures and it was very clean - except the bottom level floor was sticky. But property is not being well maintained. Kitchen cabinet doors were falling off, phone jack was ripped out of wall, air conditioner did not cool the main level, none of the downstairs bathroom lights worked and water leaked into house when it rained (huge puddle in mater bedroom - based on water damage on walls and ceiling this has been going on for a while). Tech guy just happened to show up within 30 minutes of our arrival and fixed the cabinet door and phone jack (but phone never worked). If you dive - this is a good side of the island to stay on. If you want to snorkel, swim and walk on the beach then stay on the north (rum point) or west (seven mile beach). This property has a small amount of sand in front of it and the water in November is too rough for swimming. Plus side - it's a small island and you can easily get anywhere within 30-60 minutes.

Owner's Response: Some peopled just can't be pleased! Most importantly, I would like to call to the attention of readers of this review that twenty (20) of the previous twenty-one (21) reviews are five-star reviews. This guest makes the statement that the tech was there within 30 minutes of their arrival to adjust some loose hardware on the cabinets and the phone jack! That is lightening speed service in the Caribbean! The guest fails to mention that the same tech corrected the minor issue regarding the AC on the same visit. Because it is often the case that one group of guests vacate on the same day that new guests arrive, minor adjustments are made by my reliable staff on the day of the turnover. The review states that the beach at the villa is a "small amount of sand"; this is simply not true; on the contrary, the beach is three hundred (300) feet long, and rarely shared by other guests. This villa enjoys the benefit of many repeat guests, as one can read about in the truthful reviews. One group is returning for the fourth time; they have no complaints, and have no desire to stay anywhere else on the island.

Perfect vacation

  • 5 of 5

We LOVED this place. My husband and I, our 2 young children and a couple friend of ours stayed here for a week. This was the most relaxing vacation we have been on. The location is perfect for those who want a quiet get away and just relax. We had a great time snorkeling, swimming, canoeing and relaxing. My son and I went snorkeling right off the beach, and we were so excited to see all the beautiful colored fish and 2 stingrays just 3 feet below us. Ken was such a great help to us prior to our trip. He recommended some attractions to see and places to eat. I highly recommend staying here, and look forward to visiting again in the future!

Fourpeat - Once Again a Wonderful Trip With Superb Accommodations

  • 5 of 5

My Wife and I have been going to GC for nearly 15 years and have stayed in a number of different places. We discovered this property four years ago and have been staying there ever since - no need to look for a better place because none such exists!

We are both divers and always dive the North or West with Deep Blue Divers (operate out of the Yacht Club or Georgetown) and the East with Ocean Frontiers (a short walk from the condo.

Each year we go we are surprised with upgrades that Ken seems to make every year - this year it was the entertainment system - a new satellite system with large HD flat screen monitors added in the two large bedrooms as well as enhanced WiFi for internet access. You can even stream netflix thru the blue ray DVD players in the two large living areas.

This year, the previous visitor messed up the airconditioning controls and the AC was not up to speed - a quick call to the property manager and a technician fixed the issue within 15 minutes - amazing service.

As always, the unit was in pristine condition and all advertised ammenities were there.

Can't wait to return next season!!
