About Dr, Michael Flynn
Semi-retired single professional who lives and loves the house outside of Summer. Not included in the photos is a small office available for other professionals who may have to stay in contact with their office or clients. Naturally, the office contains books favorable to the owner for your use.
Dr, Michael Flynn purchased this House in 2009
Why Dr, Michael Flynn chose Sagamore Beach
This property is a perfect combination of the Cape excitement during the summer and the quiet of truly resting and relaxing as if it were a typical New England fall. The beaches are not full as you would find on the Cape. An early morning walk as the Sun rises cannot be adequately described. Cool breezes off the water and up the cliff is very comfortable during the warmest of days.
What makes this House unique
Location - Location - Location. With little ambient light, the sky sparkles at night. Sleeping with the patio doors open provides that comfortable sound of waves washing up on the shore. Many people who live in the area looks for claims early in the morning for meals later. Periodically, one can watch a mother whale and cafe feeding in the Bay, although whale watches out of Plymouth was the most exciting adventure I ever had. If arranged in advance, a local chef may be available for periodic meals.

Michael was a wonderful host, however the property was unable to be locked, he has a written note about some of the issues with the house, however, the back door was never able to be closed and locked, the windows are propped open and we almost had a bad hand accident when one just slammed closed instead of slowly releasing. The cabinets in the kitchen do not shut and one of the panels keeps falling off, the toilet in the bathroom on the main level leaks and needs cleaning up on a regular basis, and the washer would only wash and not rinse, we had to wring clothes dry by hand before putting in the washer. The beach is indeed a long stair trip up and down, and the stairs are 6 houses down the street. We have stayed in many properties in the US, Asia, and Europe, this is the only time we felt the property needed some mending before renting out. The view is beautiful, and it is in a very quiet neighborhood, with a quiet beach. I would recommend reaching out to Michael before renting to make sure the security issues are fixed.
How ironic that the person who wrote this response was according to my cleaning lady and an appliance repair person were the tenants that overloaded a Samsung front-loaded washing machine which burned out the pump and when I had the pump replaced, the drum bearings were burned out. Perhaps this poor review is due to my interest in not renting to this tenant in the future. and making a claim for their entire security deposit which was less than the cost of my original washer.
It is a very rare instance where there is a legitimate problem which I always find a fair resolution. Things happen over the summer when my cleaning lady and I have only 5 hours to turn the house over. Things do happen over the summer which makes it difficult to get them fixed which is difficult when you have tenants booked up for months. I guess based on this review and while these tenants were traveling from out of state, I should have canceled their week's vacation leaving them high and dry so that I can fix the items they addressed.
One of the nice things of this particular house is that it is on the top of a 90 foot sand cliff. The stairs put in by the Town makes going up and down the path to the private beach very easy.
Accordingly, I must thank this tenant in convincing me to stop leasing the house. and cancel my HomeAway Account. I will continue to rent to those tenants who return year after year and who have a realistic understanding of the facts that things do go wrong and that time is short to fix them.
and not damage a washer. Any house on a large body of water will need repair. This year windows need to be replaced. Obviously the best time to replace windows is summer however that would interfere in vacation time. I had already planned to replace the windows in fall or spring but all that will do is to cause the weekly rent to go up.
As for the rear door, communications would have taken care of the matter. I would have explained that while the house was being rented out, the bearings on the sliding back door were not rolling properly. Perhaps I should have canceled their trip to fix the door and leave them high and dry which I believe they were traveling in from out of state when I discovered the problem. If I had been called (my number was listed in the house instructions) I would have explained the situation or could have come over at any time since I am staying less than 10 minutes away. The door could be closed and locked with a strong push.
Finally, any house on the water will have issues and if they do not, I can assure you that it would cause at least an extra $1500 per week.
During the summer a hinge broke on one cabinet door and another had sprung. Again, something that has to be fixed after the summer is over.
I must thank this tenant for the review because I am now convince to keep only those tenants who repeatedly stay year after year and to close out my HomeAway account for new tenants who ruins a washer and then turn around and complain after I informed HomeAway that I will not rent to this tenant again.. like to come by every year and close out my Homeaway account. Repeat tenants communicates with me and let me know that there is a problem then finding out on change day when there is nothing I can do.
The property is in a great location w/ a 2nd floor deck that provides marvelous views of the ocean.
The property was exactly as described. It provided fantastic views of the ocean, beach and Cape Cod Bay. The 2nd floor deck was probably the best part of the home. It was right off of the bedrooms and provided a great breeze at night and beautiful sunrises each morning.
we would definitley rent this again.
My husband and I, and our dog, had the best vacation. The home is beautiful and really does have a million dollar view! It was so peaceful there. Dr. Flynn couldn't have been more accommodating. Lying in bed, listening to the waves...nothing like it!!
House and very private location was beautiful - it is truly a million dollar view! There were very few people on the beach the week we stayed and a few seals kept us company. It is adjacent to a paragliding launch location so on our first day we saw paragliders in very close proximity to the house's upper deck! Caught some striped bass. The owner was very nice and helpful. The path to the beach is quite steep and exhausting (150 steps and a 70' elevation change). There is no air conditioning in this house - most of the time we were there the sea breeze was great, but on a couple of the days the house was pretty hot. It is close to grocery stores and to Plymouth.
Thank you for the review. It is a very rare instance in which one would encounter a week of very humid weather however, the tenants were informed of window air conditioner units for each bedroom and all they needed to do was to text me and I would have had them installed within 1 hour. Except for 1 week three years ago, the days are warm and the nights are cool during the middle of July. Temperate control is within the control of the tenants inasmuch as many tenants wish to enjoy the experience of summer on the beach.
Great house, spectacular views!
The house was clean, up to date and very enjoyable. A step above most New England beach rentals. The owner was very nice and easy to deal with.
The house has a private setting and wonderful ocean views from 2 decks as advertised. Which would have been fine provided that is all you wanted from a waterfront property. What I expected was access to a "private" beach, particularly for that amount of money. So imagine my disappointment the day we arrive and I text the owner where the path to the beach is located and his response is "At the end of the street". The "end of the street" had a closed chain link fence with a sign posted No Beach Access!!! Apparently, the access had been closed from a previous storm. I was never notified of this in advance and the owner should have been aware. Myself and my entire family were extremely disappointed and I felt I let them down. So ultimately we had no true access to a private beach as the closest entry point required packing up the cars and driving there with all your beach gear. And because we did not have a resident's sticker, you were not allowed to park in any of the designated areas close to the private beach entry. We made the best of it by unpacking everything in the parking lot while the drivers found a parking spot along the public stretch of the road and walked back. It was either that or pay to go to the public beach. That was our week...on a waterfront property.
