About Heather Buono

We are Irwin and Daphne Culver. We have been married for 43 years, and live and work in Apache Junction, AZ. Irwin is a licensed plumber and works as a maintenance technician, for Banner Health AZ, but his real calling is remodeling cars and looking after his Koi pond. Daphne works as a part-time Administration Assistant for Banner Health. She rescues Yorkies for YTNR and Mill Dog Rescue.

Our property manager is Heather Buono, owner of Grace Vacation Rentals Maui and she has lived on island for over 20 years.

We purchased this condo after staying on the property several times. We wanted a special place that we can truly call our second home, somewhere we can settle into and just enjoy!

The proximity to the shoreline invites you to relax on the chaise lounges with a view across the channel to Lanai and Molokai, whale watching in the winter, or watch some of the most spectacular sunsets anywhere!

We have an observation deck, built out over the seawall for whale watching and spectacular sunset views! This unit is perfect to snorkel, paddle board and kayak right off the shoreline! There are three volcanic reefs that run parallel to the shoreline. During low tide, the inner area, between the seawall and the first reef is perfectly protected for keiki to play in the water and build sand castles. Between the first and second reef, the water is between 7' and 4' deep, perfect for swimming with the turtles and enjoying a morning swim. Outside the second reef, and inside the third, is a wonderful labyrinth of lava nooks and crannies that provide great snorkeling!

First time booking a vacation rental. Loved having our own place! Felt more relaxed as we came and went from activities. The beach was steps away, the little shops and eateries were close and within walking distance too. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and time we had here. Would stay again.

Maui Sands 708

Great location with everything we needed. Very comfortable bed with nice breeze, did not even turn on the AC! Had all the furnishings necessary to make for a comfortable stay, but other than cooking meals and sleeping, we were not there much. Found the observation deck and BBQ a great place o hang out in the evening and meet some great people, who likewise like Maui Sands.

Wonderful location

It was our first visit to Maui and the first booking with VRBO. Maui is amazing and the booking worked very well. We had a wonderful stay at this condo and we would definitely recommend it. The location is absolutely perfect and the condo is well equipped. There were only two things why we can´t give five stars. The bed was too soft/saggy and the water jet was too low (it was really hard to get the shower gel out of my long hair).

Honokawai is located on the Northwest shore of Maui, with views of the islands of Molokai and Lanai across the channel. Maui Sands epitomizes old school Hawaii ambiance. This is a low density property, with beautiful grounds, including mango and banana trees. We are a very easy short walk from some lovely beaches and a Honokawai park. There are many good local restaurants, a large grocery store, two farmers markets, a health food store, a coffee shop and some great spa facilities, all within a 3-5 minute walk. One of the favorite things about this location is the Farmers Market that is a short walk away across from the Honokawai Beach Park. They hold a special outdoor produce market on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, but they offer fresh organic produce and a deli from 7am to 7pm, 7 days a week.

A short drive south to Whalers Village, and further on to Lahaina brings you to great Front Street shopping and historic sights.

North towards Kapalua there are 3 more championship golf courses, as well as fabulous beach walks and mountainside hiking! Nothing like a sunset view from the side of a volcano!
