Apartment has all new windows, paint, exterior plaster, ceiling fans, and new split air conditioner. It has a beautiful 40 foot long pool, sun deck, tiki hut (yes we have a real tiki hut!!) and incredible harbour and town views. Relax next to the pool with wireless internet access or take a short ride, it is only a few miles, to historic downtown Charlotte Amalie. Then consider visiting the beach at Marriots Morning Star (less than half a mile walk) and soak up the sun or lounge in the shade before a mid-day snorkel or skim boarding lesson! NO SMOKERS PLEASE, SORRY.

About Michelle & Kurt Nose

Kurt has lived on the island for the last forty three years and was a certified dive instructor, boat and sailing enthusiast and all around down to earth guy. We love to entertain and explore the islands, as you always see something new no matter how many times you have been to them! We live full time in the home.

Michelle & Kurt Nose purchased this apartment in 2000

Why Michelle & Kurt Nose chose South Side

Hmmmm.... Well first of all the view is extraordinary and you have a sense of peace everytime you look out, and not to sound to 'mushy', but we fell in love in this house and have a deep connection to it. It is extremely clean, has all the necessary essentials to make your vacation one to remember. We will do our very best to make sure you have a great time....and hopefully come back again & again.

What makes this apartment unique

We are avid boaters, owning both a power and sail boat, we often take our guests for either some exploring of the other islands, beaches, or snorkeling reefs. While we always try to get you out on the water please understand it is not always possible with our work, travel, and childs schedule. sorry about that!

Lovely pool, stunning views, comfortable accommodations & cooled bedroom and central location!

  • 5 of 5

My 8 year old son & I thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Having read previous reviews, I opted to "wait & see" on renting a car but rented one immediately the first morning. I would strongly recommend a car. (More on that at end of review.) Pool was a highlight of our trip, the view is every bit as perfect as the pictures/description. My son struggled w/ the salt water. He loved the ocean but the sea water, not as I had hoped. This reduced the snorkeling time I had anticipated greatly, but the pool was a perfect replacement, (combined w/ Coral World's "sea trek" to see/interact with a lively reef area & sea life 20 feet below) and we swam morning & night, even late nights.

The unit was perfectly appointed for our needs & bedroom remained fabulously cool in 90°+ temps. Daytime breeze made the rest of the unit easily liveable. Internet was adequate, (a bit spotty for facetime/streaming a movie). Can't attest to anything regarding the TV as neither my son or I bothered to turn it on in 5 lovely days!!!! (Parenting win!)

The location was lovely, just above Frenchman's cove and reef resorts. I felt a bit misled by previous reviews mentioning taking a taxi from the airport with a stop for groceries on the way. Perhaps due to our evening arrival (?), we were given only the option of a shuttle, for all practical purposes, w/ about 8 of us sharing a taxi van. There was clearly no option to stop for groceries/supplies. Luckily, the unit had a gallon of drinking water in the fridge when we arrived. Also, in 90°+ temps, walking to where we could catch a taxi/safari taxi was a bit taxing. If that's the climate you're used to, perhaps it would be fine. Add to that attempting to carry all we would want with us for the day & concern of what to do w/ any valuables while swimming/snorkeling,... I highly reccomend a car. Many reviews state the steep roads really demand a jeep, we were given a Toyota Yaris & NO difficulty getting around whatsoever. We'd stay here again!!

Side notes...car ferry to St John was a great option & I also reccomend having a car on St John unless you simply want to see trunk bay & shops there. We enjoyed Cinnamon bay very much w/ very nice snorkeling right off shore. St John is a beautiful island w/ many beaches. If you like to explore, take a drive!

Coral world was great! Loved "sea lion swim", "Sea trek" & the airconditioned underwater observatory. We fed & touched stingrays, saw green sea turtles & sharks. Nice aviary & iguanas everywhere.

Peaceful / relaxing

  • 4 of 5

The view is as beautiful as it looks in the picture. We rented a car which was a plus. Kurt & Michelle's place is very convenient to most everything. Upon arrival, Kurt was very helpful in providing directions to their apartment and suggestions of things to do and see. It was comfortable, clean and quiet. I would definitely stay there again. My only suggestion would be to rent a jeep as opposed to a car. In St. Thomas the terrain is mountainous.

Awesome view and spot to enjoy bbq and happy hour cocktails!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here for our first year anniversary a year ago and I still think of this as one of my most fond vacations. I particularly liked that we had our own space with access to the grill, our own deck and the pool.

The kitchen was small and difficult for two people to cook together so we also used the kitchen table as our island. However it did have everything we needed to make meals. We rarely ate at the kitchen table with the view as it was! The only other thing to know is that the hill to carry things in and out of the home is pretty steep! Good way to get the heart going!

Overall we had an amazing time and would very much recommend a visit here.

Amazing views in a great location

  • 5 of 5

I recently stayed with Kurt and Michelle for the second time in a recent trip to St. Thomas. It was another excellent find. Ive been lucky enough to book the place twice now and hope to do so in the future as well. The views are incredible and the location is central to evreything in Charlotte Amalie while being removed from the center enough to feel a bit secluded and enjoy the sounds of nature. The pool is the icing on the cake. All around amazing property and I highly reccommend it to fellow travelers.

Amazing view

  • 5 of 5

Loved the breezes, amazing view, watching the cruise ships, listening to the birds and roosters, and grilling on the deck. Apartment was very clean and well furnished. The pool is great to swim and watch boats! Michelle and Kurt are very accommodating and hospitable. This is an excellent property! Feel like we have a house on St Thomas!!

Lovely Escape without the Kids!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful visit to Saint Thomas the first week of March. Kurt & Michelle were friendly and knowledgable hosts. We opted to not rent a car for our 4 days stay, but any more than that and I would recommend doing so. Kurt was happy to provide an early morning shuttle to Red Hook one morning as we tagged along for school drop off, and another time he was heading our direction he got us where we needed to be. Michelle also gave us a gallon of drinking water and the freezer was stocked wonderful ground coffee. We grabbed some milk for our coffee from a convenience shop at the Marriott and had our minimum requirements met. The roads are not conducive to walking, much less going for a run as Michelle thoughtfully advised right away. The quiet neighborhood and perfect apartment were a wonderful place to end the day. The a/c unit in the bedroom was a treat and helped to drown out the crowing roosters a few mornings when they were close by. We did not opt to cook which helped in forgoing the car rental, but the kitchen was well appointed and everything was in great condition. It was a steep but manageable walk down to the Frenchman's Reef Marriott to spend the day at the beach. We did walk home once, but then decided to simply pack a change of clothes for the day and make the most of our time where we ended up. At the end of the day we took a taxi home. All beaches are public in St. Thomas so we enjoyed the hotel amenities for 2 days on our more relaxed beach days alternating with our more adventurous days on St. John or sailing. With the hotel right there we also had quick access to a taxi stand, good restaurants and a convenience store. All of this worked very well for a parents' first get away from the kids, but it would not have been a good fit with kids. The value overall was exceptional and I would highly recommend!
