Not what I expected for the price
Home was clean and most everything was in working order.
Beds however need to be replaced - very uncomfortable.
Had to buy our own wood to use the fireplace and there was no trash receptacle to be found outside so we took our trash with us and found a public dumpster, which is a bit of an inconvenience, especially when they place a huge emphasis in the instructions to empty your trash in the receptacles supposedly provided. What did I miss here?
We tracked in dirt from outside, which is obviously easy to do being in the woods, but when we tried to vacuum it up, the Dirt Devil they have didn't help much with that effort. Back patio offers a Hot tub, which was a nice feature and worked great, however, the area was filthy as was the patio table and chairs. The previous tenants used lighter fluid to light wood on fire outside and the evidence was left behind as trash laying in the back yard. We slept in the living room by the fire as the master queen bed wasn't suitable for a good night's sleep. The heater is very noisy as well. Would highly recommend bringing your own air mattress and ear plugs. The foldout couch is outdated and sinks. Overall, it's suitable if you need a cozy place to lay your head for a night, but for the price, I would've expected better furnishings and an overall nicer place. I also learned that booking directly through Cool Cabins would've saved me quite a bit as they don't have the added service fees and offer better pricing in general. Check-in was simple, however, it's off-site at the Cool Cabins office, so have to drive there first to sign paperwork and get instructions for entry, etc., The front door is key pad entry and the door gets jammed a bit. You have to pull it towards you and hold it closed while you enter the code, otherwise it will be a pain to get open. Hope the owners address that issue as it was not a good first impression. Recommend looking elsewhere.
We appreciate your time and feedback! We have since then addressed these issues in effort to assure a great stay for future guests including yourself! We do apologize we fell short on your reservation to excel your expectations. Unfortunately, for the trash situation, it is a city ordinance where each guest does need to take their trash to the public dumpsters. We are currently working with them to get this rule removed to avoid the hassle for our guests. We would really like to make this up for you and hope you will still consider Big Bear Cool Cabins in the future! We hope to hear from you soon!
Great for our family!
We loved our stay at this little cabin. It was everything we needed, and the little area behind was perfect for sledding with young kids. We also really appreciated having a jacuzzi! The only thing I might recommend is taking extra blankets and maybe your own towels since the bath towels are small.
Labor Day weekend delight
My family and I had a pleasant stay here over the holiday weekend. Plenty of board games to play, a PS4 if you felt like gaming, and after a full day of outdoor activities and sightseeing, soaking in the jetted tub under the stars is a perfect way to wind down. I'd recommend this to families with a few kids, or couples looking for a cozy Big Bear experience.
perfect home away from home
The cabin was perfect. Well stocked with all the necessities for a great night. Very clean, close to to the resort. My family and I had a great time!
Thank you, Heather, for your review and for choosing Cool Cabins. I’m happy that you enjoyed your stay and I’m looking forward to having you again as a guest in Big Bear.
