SUMMER ACTIVITIES AT SNOWSHOE AND SURROUNDING AREAS
Summertime at Snowshoe Mountain is truly a hidden gem. While the rest of the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic suffers through oppressive heat and humidity, summer day temperatures at Snowshoe hover between 70 and 80 with subtle breezes and seemingly very little humidity.
From Memorial Day to Labor Day, the Snowshoe Village, including the shops, restaurants and bars, all stay open to offer a fun, yet relaxing getaway. For the adventure seekers, Snowshoe boasts some of the best mountain biking in the entire country, for both beginners and experts alike. Each weekend, ride your bike down the mountain and take the shuttle or a ski lift back up.
You can also take the lift down to Shavers Lake and enjoy the highest “beach” in WV. At the lake, you can rent paddle boats, play horseshoes, kick back in a hammock, have some food and drinks at the Boathouse, or take a hike around the lake. The kids can also enjoy the water at Split Rock Pools, which has a popular “dumping barrel” that the little ones are sure to love.
Other summer activities include golf at the breathtaking Raven Golf Course, located at the bottom of Snowshoe Mountain. Consistently rated as the best public course in WV, the Raven offers a challenging, yet serene, course for very reasonable rates. The resort also offers off-road dune buggy tours, geocache hunts, sporting clays, and, for the kids, eurobungy and a climbing wall.
We hope your stay at our condo is enjoyable, relaxing and memorable!
We are Floridians that love the experience of Winter. We are a big family and have been skiers and boarders for over 15 years. We love watching our children enjoy themselves playing in the snow and taking advantage of the outdoor activities at Snowshoe.
Laz purchased this condo in 2006
We always wanted a Winter home, since there is no true Winter in Florida. This is our get away home from the hectic life in the big city.
The summer and fall activities in Snowshoe are very enjoyable too. Lots of things of to do, beautiful sites, history, local area arts and crafts, and lots of time to RELAX!
We fell in love with Snowshoe because of the combination of skiing, outdoor activities, natural snow falls, restaurants, shops and night life. The people are really friendly too!
This property was perfectly sized with two bed/two bath. The location was walking distance to the village and there is a shuttle stop right across the street if needed. Highly recommended!
This condo served our group of 5 adults very well. The unit was very clean and the communication with the owner was timely and professional. The location is convenient to just about everything at the top of the mountain. The beds were very comfortable and it had all of the amenities you need for a trip to Snowshoe. The WiFi service was fast and consistent.
We had a solid day of rain while were there and thoroughly enjoyed our day hunkered down in this nice comfortable home away from home. Thanks Laz!
Thanks for the use of the well maintained and well stocked condo. Everything was wonderful as far as what was inside of your control. Your place was cozy and comfortable and we had no issues with the amenities. The only thing I could complain about was the showers were a little touchy when it came to getting the perfect temperature, but I realize you really can't do much about that. And the DVD player didn't have a remote control (but that only bothered the generation that never had to get up and change a channel!)The phone service on top of the mountain was atrocious and we couldn't get a signal at all. But on vacation, that's not always a bad thing! The weather worked out perfectly for us except the load out was in the midst of a pop-up shower that rolled through. We thoroughly enjoyed the skiing and only wish we would've had more time to squeeze in some tubing and pool/hot tub time. Next time we need to schedule a longer stay.
We stayed at the property for a quick two night/three day snowboarding trip. There were four of us total, including my 6-month-old and mother-in-law, but there was plenty of room and we could have easily fit in a few more people. The condo is perfect; fully stocked kitchen with everything you need to cook meals and very comfortable beds and decor. It is within walking distance from the slopes (not a bad walk) and the village. Laz was very helpful and quick to respond to my multiple inquiries (thanks, Laz). We'll definitely bookmark this property for future trips!
The leatherbark condo is very close to expedition station (a quick walk), clean, and comfortable. We had a great stay!
We have been visiting Snowshoe for many years and stayed at most of the places offering accommodations. This was one of the nicest places we have stayed at. The accommodations were very clean, well decorated and spacious. There were 5 of us (3 kids) and at no time did we feel closed in. The alcove or den area was a great place for the kids to hang out. Laz was very accommodating and responded to emails very quickly answering any questions we had. We had an easy time to getting to the slopes using the bus service. Skiing was awesome as usual and the restaurants in the village were equally as good. We ate at the waffle house, the Junction and Cheats Pizza. We used the kitchen often for our own home cooked meals. We would highly recommend this place for anyone looking to enjoy a relaxing ski trip. We would definitely consider this place in the future.
