About Suzanne Snyder

A native of Texas, the owner is a widow who loves wine, fishing and food. She splits her time between a Eugene, Oregon residence and this residence on the river.

Suzanne Snyder purchased this mobile home in 2007

Why Suzanne Snyder chose Oakland

Purchased this property after years of fishing at the world famous Big K Ranch and fishing with a world class guide, Todd Hannah, who also lives on the river, just 10 minutes away!

What makes this mobile home unique

This residence is almost exactly half-way between the catch-and-release fishery around Glide, Oregon, and the excellent salmon fishing in Winchester Bay at Reedsport, Oregon. The fishing is a given, but the Umpqua Valley wineries, known for their Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris, are increasingly drawing wine lovers. The Oregon Dunes are just 45 minutes away, with ATV rentals available. Great place for the whole family to have fun!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Loved our stay and I think everyone agreed they wanted to do it again next year with more family in trailers, tents etc.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The river is spectacular. The home is very comfortable. And Suzanna was so accommodating.

Serenity on the Umpqua

  • 5 of 5

On the banks of the Umpqua River we awoke to elk bugling and a life of serenity. Smallmouth bass fishing right at the back door. Deer in the front and back yards every day. What a great property, well furnished and stocked and lots of room. Large deck in the back with a great view and a covered deck out front for great afternoon "naps". Suzanne was great to work with and very accommodating on our last day as we needed a later check out. Within short driving distance of the Oregon Coast, Historic Oakland, The Great Dunes, and the elk at Dean Creek. Would highly recommend this property to anyone that wants to get away from the hectic life and enjoy some serenity. Life on the Umpqua was great!

Great place, small issues but overall awesome

  • 4 of 5

Stayed with family and friends. And while this is not luxury accommodations, this is perfect for a relaxing family getaway.

The first night, when we went to turn on the grill we found that the propane was empty. We called the house caretaker and she noted that all the stores in the area were closed and that she could get fuel for us the next day. We were not to thrilled about that, but then she called and stated that she would trade out the tank with one that she had at her house (3 miles up the road). She warned that it also was low, so we would have to cook fast. Pam came with the replacement tank and we quickly cooked the steaks without dawdling.

The other issue was the yellow jackets. I ended up killing about a dozen of them when they buzzed the kids with us. I also destroyed two nest that were located on the back patio and it seemed to help reduce the occurrences.

The last and really minor issue is that there is a little poison oak on the sides of the path down to the river. You can easily avoid it, but be aware if you have little ones that like to touch everything. I spotted it early, so it was not really an issue.

But the house was great overall. Almost everything that you could need to have a get together. The evening breeze cooled off the house well and it was awesome having the river so close. Caught about 10 bass off the back of the house, including one of our 4 year olds first fish ever. Everyone had a great time.

The proximity to other great river spots is also awesome. While we were there, we all probably, collectively caught 100+ fish at different spots on the river. And it was great launching at Tyee Landing and pulling our kayaks out at the house.

Highly recommend this place. The owner and caretaker were easy to work with and we will definitely try to come back, for a longer stay next time.

Owner's Response: "Someday" is a fishing cabin in the middle of a hay field on the Umpqua River, half an hour from the nearest town(s). Yellow jackets, other insects, and poison oak are dealt with regularly, but are somewhat just part of being "in the country." Guests are notified prior to arrival that they may want to bring their own propane and where to refill a tank. In this instance, when the housekeeper filled the "empty" tank, it would take only 3 gallons of propane. Perhaps the guests didn't turn on the propane at the tank? At any rate, we try to respond to problems as quickly as we can!

Great place for a reunion

  • 5 of 5

We had an enjoyable time. Son and two granddaughters plus 3 great grandchildren met for a family reunion. Great time. The deer were a treat to watch every evening. The deck is perfect for a BBQ. The house was clean. Pam was great in her concern for our comfort. All was good.

BEAUTIFUL, PEACEFUL & RELAXING!!!

  • 5 of 5

We, myself, my husband, my son & our 2 dogs, spent 4 wonderful day at "Somedays" It was just perfect. We originally were supposed to stay in another property, we had to change plans, & we ended up here. Happy accident. The house is set up nicely, the kitchen had all the goodies a cook could need, the couch & bed were great. Even though it's on a well, the water pressure was good. The decks, oh the decks, they are awesome, the view from the back one is amazing, with the river just beyond the trees. The yard is fully fenced, not a tall fence, which meant our 1 dog had to remain on her long leash, but our GSD had a blast running around, then going down to the river for a swim. We loved it! My dogs loved it! If your looking for 5 star accommodations, maybe not the place for you. However, if your looking for a beautiful spot to get away from it all, I would recommend "Someday". You will not regret it.

Perfect

Great place to get away and relax, got a lot of paperwork done (working vacation). Has wifi but no cell signal so use "settings" for your cell to work off wifi or the owner has a phone system you can use also. Stayed for 2 weeks but wish I could stay longer! Nice place!
