After working as a film editor for twenty years, I am now a clinical social worker in Greenpoint. My wife, a sculptor, has her studio in the nearby GMDC industrial building.

Perfect home base!
We absolutely adored this place and will likely try to use it every time we visit nearby family. First it's a wonderful home, comfortable and bright. Alan is great. And the location is awesome. I've already recommended it to my other family members when they come to visit.
Two small notes that I think might be helpful for others: There is a beautiful clawfoot tub/shower. But as expected with clawfoot, it can take forever to fill for a bath, so bath takers be patient. And getting in/out of the clawfoot for a shower can be precarious if you have mobility issues or young children. This is not a complaint, only meant to be helpful. There is also a set of narrow steep stairs to get up to the apartment, so don't bring the kitchen sink with you!
Absolutely perfect, can't wait to return!
Best rental we've ever had
Beautiful space. Wonderful light. Thoughtfully furnished with contemporary voice. Great kitchen with sharp knives, William Sonoma dinnerware, excellent equipment. Bed is really comfortable and shower and hot water are excellent. Closet and cupboard space is large. Exceptionally convenient to public transit. It's a two minute walk to the G train or bus stop. Good restaurants close by. Whole Foods is a mile away, but other grocery shopping is close by. There is a lovely park at the end of Greenpoint Ave by East River and the ferry to Manhattan is three blocks north at India Street. It was a joy to stay at Alan's and we enthusiastically recommend this apartment. Thank you, Alan.
Quiet, sunny, stylish and convenient
We had a wonderful stay in Greenpoint. The apartment was large, clean and thoughtfully fitted out. The location was much better than we anticipated, being part of a mainly Polish community with many very good cafes and restaurants. We tried some of the ones recommended by Alan and they were more than worth going back to. One cafe, not in Alan's list, was Konditori, where we had the best coffee of anywhere we tried in NYC. We had a minor problem with a lightbulb and Alan resolved it very quickly. We certainly recommend this apartment to anyone who wants a taste of a lovely NYC community.
Our daughter got dressed here for her nearby hotel rooftop wedding. It was a lovely, sunlight-filled space that provided a sense of airy peace and happiness before the I- dos. The photographer used it to best advantage, shooting the pink velvet shoes on the mantle and the bouquets on the crisp white pick-stitched bedspread. The bride and groom spent the night after the festivities and the place has a very special atmosphere. Best to Alan from the Mother of the Bride.
Wonderful - As advertised
This apartment was perfect for our stay in NYC. The location is excellent - very close to the subway, restaurants, park, etc. The apartment is clean and well stocked. It's exactly as advertised. As others have mentioned - the bedding is luxurious. It's nearly impossible to find a king sized bed in NYC and this bed is high quality - no sleep issues whatsoever. This apartment is perfect for a couple. We would absolutely stay here again.
We had a fabulous stay in Greenpoint. The apartment is lovely and in the perfect location for exploring New York. Alan was a great host. We would highly recommend this vacation home.
