Floor to ceiling glass enclosure just installed to allow full view of the ocean which is just below you as well as views of Waikiki and the rest of the island from the lanai. You can't get any closer to the ocean than this!! Gated building with site manager. Secluded beach and access to neighboring surf & beaches by walkway on the sea wall. Lounge chairs for relaxing by the surf and private beach . The " Hau Terrace" also has a picnic table which can be reserved for no additional charge. Parking is available in a neighboring building for an extra charge, but street parking in Kapiolani Park is almost always available.

There are very few buildings that are this close to the ocean. When the property was built in 1959 there were not the setback requirements in place today. Sitting on the lanai at the top of the coconut trees, the aquamarine waters of the Pacific Ocean and the gentle rolling surf will welcome you.

What makes this condo unique

This neighborhood is so unique and peaceful. Located on the ocean (makai) side of Kapiolani Park at the base of world famous Diamond Head, you are walking distance away from fine dining at Michel's at Colony Surf and the Hau Tree Lanai at the New Otani Hotel. A very short walk from there brings you to the Waikiki Aquarium. Walk a little further down Kalakaua Avenue to the Honolulu Zoo and Waikiki with unlimited shopping, dining and activities.

Stunning views, perfect location

Location: Couldn't have been more perfect. It's roughly a mile from downtown Waikiki. I loved that because It gets kind of loud/busy down there, so my personal preference was for something a little more removed from all of that and a little quieter. This was great because we were just far enough that you could find parking fairly easily, and you could open up your windows and the predominant noise was the waves crashing and the palm trees rustling. It’s on the edge of Kapiolani park, which is just gorgeous. But while it’s not buried in the heart of downtown, it is still close enough that a 15 minute walk through the beautiful park will put you right there.

The condo: Overall it was very nice. Clean and nicely decorated. One thing I would point out is that it is only a 1 bedroom. What the owner calls a “second bedroom” is just a fold out couch in the living room. We’re pretty sure (from looking at structure etc.) that it did used to be a 2 BR, but the owner took out one of the walls thus making it a 1BR and opening up the main living/dining area wider. Kitchen had what we needed, beds were super comfortable, everything was nice. But where this place really shines is the view. You are in a building that is right next to the water, on an ocean facing side about a half a dozen floors up. Not sure if you can tell from the pictures, but basically from floor to ceiling, the entire wall on the side facing the ocean actually recesses up into the ceiling like a garage door (in both the main living area and the bedroom) and your living room basically becomes the lanai. It’s the coolest thing. You get home in the evening, flip the switch and your entire wall rolls up and you have the best view on the island. And if you’ve ever been on a cruise and gotten a balcony stateroom where you leave the door open all night and sleep with the sounds of the waves crashing against the side of the ship, it’s almost like that because the building is so close to the water line that you could almost jump out into the water (but don’t because it’s rocky and you’d die). I can’t understate this, I’ve been raving about how beautiful the view was from this place. The only thing I need to say against the recessing-door-cool-view is that the railing has kind of wide slats (older building, probably not to modern code) and my 2 year old could have actually fit through. So we ended up having to have couches and chairs etc. lined up along the railings as a barrier.

Honolulu Zoo, the Waikiki Aquarium are also located within Queen Kapiolani Park as well as Diamond Head. If you like hiking consider the hike to the top of Diamond Head but be prepared. It's a lot of stairs!!!
