Couldn't have had a nicer week with my cousins in an "enchanted cottage". As it's name implies - a quiet place but so close to a variety of adventures; shopping, biking, restaurants. But most of all a quiet retreat to sit by the lake, a flickering fire and countless stars to gaze at. The cottage was so charming, every corner tastefully decorated. All the amenities you could ask for and then some - bicycles, kayaks, canoe and paddleboard. Inside entertainment - movies, music, books, etc. Comfortable beds, laundry facilities and a well stocked kitchen. Janet was friendly and accommodating.
Loved the kayak - never having experienced this activity my two cousins and myself were inspired by one of my younger cousins to give it a go. So we all took turns and it was grand. Anyway, thanks for a wonderful vacation.
We had wonderful pizza at T.J. Grizzlies, excellent fish fry at Bear Trap Inn and In Watersmeet Mi., Little Pigs Barbecue, a modest food/stand trailer along the hwy with fantastic pulled pork sandwiches. Really pleasant owners - highly recommended. We would come back in a flash and would recommend this sweet cottage without reservations.
This was my family's second year staying at Quiet Place Cottage. The first year, we couldn't have asked for a better experience, and this year was another perfect getaway. Janet is wonderful to work with, and makes everything absolutely perfect for our stay. Ample and convenient parking for snowmobiles and trailers, as well as easy access to trails. The house was warm, shower hot, and kitchen adequately supplied with necessary items. Janet even mailed our son's coat that was left hanging in the closet within a couple days of our departure. Thank you Janet for your hospitality!!! T.J Grizzlies is a great place to get pizza, and the Black Oak has the best hot chocolate on the trails!
See you next Christmas!!
Very well appointed home and a convenient location. Bass fishing was poor but then it had been chilly the previous week. Caught (and released) a mess of nice bluegills on my fly rod. Loved fishing from the paddle boat. The only negative was the intermittent noise from the shooting range west of the lake, but all in all a pleasant stay.
Enjoyed the property very much. House was very well equipped with anything we may have needed. Very clean. Quiet and relaxing. We prefer sleeping in king size bed, which was available there in the basement, however, we chose the queen on the main floor because of the bathroom. Manager very accommodating and friendly. Weather a little cool when we were there so we were not able to take advantage of the boat and lake. We would definitely recommend to others that would like some quiet peaceful vacation time. We drove to Michigan which was beautiful. Really enjoyed Bonds Falls just north of our stay.
The cabin and property were very nice and clean. The weather did not cooperate - it was cold and rainy some days. Due to the temperatures we did not get to swim like we wanted to. However, we fished a lot and caught little to no fish. Fishing was HORRIBLE and it was not from the lack of trying. Not sure if it was due to the weather or if it is overfished dead lake. We were told there were plenty of pan fish, however, we never did get to put a fish in any sort of frying pan.
We enjoyed the free bikes and the bike trails. The DVD player came in handy on rainy evenings and all the games were nice to have when the weather was not so cooperative. The campfire ring was nice for our evening fires - which we needed since it was so cold.
We really enjoyed our stay, but were very disappointed in the fishing. It was a big let down for all of us.
An absolutely lovely property. A well stocked kitchen, a rare find these days! Very comfortable. Love the privacy the property allows. Loved the Pine Cone Cafe downtown.
