We are very happy that you have chosen to visit the sunny South shore of the beautiful island of Kauai, and we invite you to stay in our cozy home-away-from-home as you relax on our sunny beach. The Poipu area offers many ways to explore the awesome natural beauty of the Garden Island, to glory in its magnificent sunsets, and to thrill at sighting humpback whales as they migrate just offshore.

Kauai has much to offer: beautiful beaches, high mountain canyons, surfing, sailing, scuba, snorkeling, kayaking, horseback riding, hiking, yoga, and fine dining.

Kiahuna Plantation: Vacationers from all over the world receive a warm “Aloha” from the Kiahuna staff. The Plantation is famous for its lovely tropical gardens, manicured lawns, and the best beach on the sunny South Shore. The beautiful and historic Plantation Gardens Restaurant, offering some of the best food on the island, is a 2 minute stroll away from our condo.

Our condo: On the ground floor, we are centered on the world-class Moir Cactus Garden, overlooking the gardens. Its exotic plant variety is just on the other side of our front lawn. The walk to the beach is a mere 3-4 minutes on the paved walk that winds through the Plantation gardens. Well-maintained barbecue grills are a few steps away.

Our unit is tasteful and quite comfortable featuring: new California king bed, new pull-out queen sofa bed, a new recliner, wall-mounted flat screen HD TV, WiFi, MP3 player, The well-equipped kitchen has a new microwave, up-dated wood cabinets, and many "extras," including rice cooker, crock pot, and barbecue utensils. No need for air conditioning; the trade winds provide it fresh and naturally.

The views of the Cactus Gardens from our lanai are quite beautiful, and are unique to our area of the Kiahuna Plantation. The lanai Is a quiet, peaceful, and wonderful place to enjoy a meal or just a beverage while watching and listening to tropical birds as they fly over the garden. When the "surf is up," you can also hear the ebb and flow of the ocean from our lanai.

While you are staying in our condo, you will have full membership access to the Poipu Beach Athletic Club, across the street. The PBAC offers a pool with water-slide for kids of all ages, and gentle sand beach for toddlers, cardio and fitness rooms, tennis courts, and more. The PBAC bar and restaurant, Hapas, offers poolside service.

Helping you plan: We provide information for our direct renters on a variety of island sights and activities. Just a short walk from the condo brings you to the Poipu Shopping Village featuring fine dining, casual dining, gelato, and Starbucks. We can tell you how to enjoy gentle morning yoga by the beach. Ten minutes drive takes you to the National Tropical Botanical Gardens or to historic Old Koloa Town, hub for the sugar plantation here until the 1990’s. And much more.

Cathy and John: As owners who live here four months of the year we pride ourselves in providing all the amenities you might need to make your visit enjoyable. We are continually making improvements that enhance our condo's charm and style, and that help bring the colors and foliage of the beautiful gardens inside. Cathy is a great cook and John likes to barbecue, so we use the well-furnished kitchen to the max. Kiahuna furnishes beach chairs and towels, and we spend most afternoons relaxing on the lawn under the palm trees and enjoying the adjacent beach. Cathy has made decorating the condo her special project and has added to the décor with local art and artifacts. John likes to plan outings and can give you good tips on putting together an itinerary, if you like.

We love the relaxed pace of Kauai (no skyscrapers or freeways). Importantly, we feel very much a part of the Kiahuna ohana (family). We know many of the staff and feel sure that you will find the service that they provide to be first-rate. If you look carefully at the shape of the island of Kauai you will see that it resembles the shape of a heart. We love the island and its people. We hope you will visit soon and fall in love with Kauai, too.

Our condo is one of only 6 ground-floor units that open directly onto the cactus gardens. So you can take your morning coffee or tea, step off the lanai walk across a small lawn, and be in the gardens. Or you can choose to enjoy the gardens and listen to the many birds from the lanai.

Best location in Poipu !

The beach at your back door and the shopping village and eateries across the street. The Plantation has lovely grounds and there are plenty more fun things to do within walking distance. The condo is well equipped and cute and the owners' were absolutely the best to work with. As with many HI homes there isn't any AC so with the windows open there is a bit of road noise.

Lovely Poipu Condo

The VRBO listing & photos accurately reflect this condo. The well stocked kitchen made dining in very easy. This condo was in the perfect location for anyone participating in the Kauai Marathon and Half. It is less than five minute walk to the start line. After you cross the finish line, it is about a 15 minute walk back to the condo through the well maintained Kiahuna Resort property. The Castle staff at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. We had a couple of minor things inside the condo which needed attention. Within 30 minutes of making the request, the maintenance person was at the condo taking care of our request. Cathy, one of the owners, was very responsive to our inquiries. We recommend this condo to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in Poipu.

Nice Little Place

The property was as-advertised and the Poipu beach area is great. Just a few comments.

- Fitting four people in this unit would be very difficult - we had two adults and a 12yr old girl and there just isn't enough drawer space (even with limited island wear).

- The unit is close to the main road which can be noisy at times (realize Kauai noisy is a lot less noisy than mainland noisy).

- The exterior grounds were well maintained and the grills were immaculate (much cleaner than my personal grill).

- The pool and restaurant/bar at the Poipu Beach Athletic Club is great - just too bad it isn't near the beach.

- The interior is a little worn and could be cleaner (some cobwebs in the ceiling corners) and again the smaller space is a limiting factor for the interior.

- Given the unit's location and orientation, it doesn't get much of a breeze.

Overall, it is a good location for a couple's getaway looking to save some money and willing to stay farther away from the beach.

Owner's Response: We arrived for our usual Winter stay in our immaculately clean condo a scant 3 hours after this guest had departed. He had booked a 7-night stay for 2 adults only, and his length of stay included a full mid-week cleaning. We urge all of our guests to contact housekeeping or maintenance for any issues that may arise while they are staying in our condo, or to contact us directly if they feel their concerns are not being addressed in a timely manner. So if you are a guest of ours, please know we are on hand by phone or e-mail to assure that your visit in our condo is as wonderful as possible.

Loved Kauai

First time to Kauai and our Kiahuna Plantation condo was perfectly located for all our activities (long walks, beach time and drives to sites). John, the owner, was great to work with and the condo description was well represented on VRBO. Loved the lanai that overlooked the gardens which had little foot traffic. It was nice having the Sheraton close by so we could pop in to use their restaurants, especially when it rained. We will use this condo again.

Great place in a fantastic setting

This is a great place, we think, in one of the nicest resorts in Kauai. The condo provided us with all the necessary amenities we needed during our stay. The VRBO listing photos accurately reflect the rental property. The place was clean, comfortable, and regular housekeeping was included. Despite the fact that this property is one of those furthest from the beach, it is less than five minutes walk to the awesome beach through beautifully maintained gardens. Also this corner of the resort was very quiet (except the roosters waking us up every morning, but this is common in Kauai). On the other hand it is close to Poipu Shopping Village and Athletic Club where you can play tennis, swimming and do other sports (no extra charge). Plenty of parking close to the building entrance was convenient. The owners were very easy to deal with, responsive, and accommodative to our special request. We had fantastic time in the Kiahuna Plantation Resort and in Kauai. Should we travel to this paradise again, we would definitely choose this condo. We highly recommend it.
