Beach Access and Quintessential McCall Cabin

Bedrooms 5
Space 2,000 sq. ft.
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 - 4 nights

About the property

5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms across from private beach

Log cabin with 4 bedrooms, plus a multi-purpose room, 2 baths, on 1/2 acre. There's room for toys and their trailers on the property (off-street parking).

In the summer, beach access (but no boat facilities) is included in rental fees. In fact, the beach access is directly across the street from the cabin. There is a filtered (trees) view of the lake from the living room. Between the beach, the lake, the neighborhood restaurants, and proximity of downtown McCall, it's possible to leave the car parked for a week vacation and never miss it.

In the winter, this location is as close as it gets to property near Brundage Mountain Ski Area with Idaho's best powder skiing. The snow is phenomenal - light and deep. You're also an hour from Riggins where you can raft or fish the mighty Salmon River - the longest undammed river in the continental U.S.

With 5 bedrooms there is plenty of room for two families. We have two queen beds, a twin over full bunk bed, a twin bunk bed set, a twin day bed, and a double futon. There is a full (tub/shower and toilet) bathroom on each floor. We offer all linens and bedding but expect you to bring your own soaps, shampoos, and beach towels.

A fully stocked kitchen is perfect for cooking an elaborate or simple meal when you want to stay home. We provide all the cooking pans, dishes, and utensils. Or, you can barbeque on the deck with the gas grill. There's a fire pit for s'mores.

If you want to eat out, you have lots of choices from walking (.5 miles) to the Shore Lodge (fine dining and cocktails), or Lardo's (bar/restaurant).

We have two TVs with DVD players. There's also a washer and dryer for extended stays.

There are endless outdoor activities all four seasons in McCall if you want to leave the lake and beach. We can suggest activities and help you plan an adventure.

About Mark Anderson

My wife and I are both from the west. I am from Boulder, CO. and my wife from Elko, NV. We love Idaho for its outdoors. There is no other state with such accessible backcountry. The Idaho lifestyle is such that a 'regular joe' can mountain bike, ski, kayak, etc. from his house and be down to the corner bar for a beer at the end of the ride, float, or run.

Specifically the camping, fishing, rafting, kayaking, mountain biking, and skiing is just fantastic. Idaho is two-thirds public land and we love to run around in it.

We are not rich but we feel that way because we get to live where we do and have vacation cabins in such beautiful places. We can share with you how nice it is to vacation in Idaho.

Mark Anderson purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Mark Anderson chose Idaho

We bought this property because it is right across from Payette Lake. Payette Lake is a beautiful alpine lake that might remind you of a miniature Lake Tahoe. The water is clear and cool (not cold) in the summer. In the winter it is frozen being at 5000 feet. Since we're not rich we felt lucky to find the closest property to the private neighborhood beach access (30 feet away and across the street). Lakefront properties are a million dollars and up for the smallest shacks on this lake.

If that weren't enough, the cabin is a half mile from the Shore Lodge (nicest public resort lodge and restaurant in McCall, as well as Lardo's bar/restaurant. With a bike you can go anywhere in McCall in minutes including the grocery store and the many restaurants.

McCall isn't so big that you get lost. It is an outdoor playground but everyone is there for the same reason - to enjoy it. It's not an Aspen or Sun Valley with lots of conspicuous wealth. Everyone fits in here. Its outdoor amenities (and lack of crowds) rival any other mountain town. It has a nightlife and there are some places to spend money. However, spending money is not the main reason why people are here.

We are fortunate enough to have bought and built another log cabin in Garden Valley, Idaho. If you really want to 'get away from it all' you might want to check out our VRBO listing #194331. Both cabins are in beautiful places and we like to share them.

What makes this cabin unique

This is an unassuming rustic Idaho log cabin on the outside but a comfortable, renovated space on the inside. You won't have to rough it. The 4 bedrooms (and a bonus room) and are nice and cozy. There's plenty of space on the deck to relax. You are only steps from the beach access. This property is perfect for two families to share.

Love it!

  • 4 of 5

We loved staying at the Anderson cabin for our recent vacation. We were there with our children and their spouses-there were 10 of us. We had plenty of bedrooms space, linens, dishes, etc. The family room was a little tight for all of us but it worked fine. The private neighborhood beach was awesome! Since we were there before the busy season, we pretty much had it all to ourselves. Would love to stay there again.

plenty of room

we had a great stay! Plenty of dishes, plenty of towels, a few toys that the kids enjoyed. The road and driveway were plowed which was a pleasant surprise.

Great budget Friendly Rustic Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We spent two nights with our kids, plus a couple of friends. We choose this house for the size and budget friendly price. Although this house can comfortably fit more, we had 8 but were happy that all our single friends could each still have a room to them self. We weren't expecting a "luxury" rental, but were pleased with the accommodations, it is a nice rustic cabin. The basement with a ping pong table was a bonus for our sons and were super happy to have that. We enjoyed the large lot the house is on and our kids spent hours digging in the snow in the yard. They owner were very attentive regarding some house repairs and compensated accordingly, they were available every time I had a question or needed anything done! We will definitely rent this house again for the size, price, and location, you can't beat it!! We can't wait to go back, planning another trip already!!!

Great family reunion!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous time at your home and loved all the space. The week we were there it was a record heat wave and while it made the lake so fun and refreshing our only improvement to the cabin would be having some fans handy for those super hot days. Otherwise a perfect getaway for our family reunion. Thanks!!!

Owner's Response: We'll buy and leave a couple fans at the cabin. At 5200 feet, McCall usually doesn't need cooling but those hottest days it would be a good idea. Thanks for the idea.

Family get together

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time and enjoyed the cabin. The amount of sleeping space was great! We had Grandparents, children and grandchildren and everyone had enough space. We enjoyed being able to fix our meals and eat in! We would love to return in the summer so we could take advantage of the lake access and the seating area outside. It was our first trip to McCall enjoyed the beauty of the area. The price really made the whole trip possible! The cabin was clean and well-maintained. I loved the extra deep tub in the downstairs bathroom!

Owner's Response: This cabin is ideal all seasons for family reunions and such since the private beach is just steps away in the summer and fall. In the winter Brundage Ski Resort is as close as you can get staying in McCall.

This property is literally across the street from the Boydstun Beach. This private beach access is included with the rental of the property. There are picnic tables, sand, and a dock (day use only). Property fronts Warren Wagon Road an historic road going into Idaho's remote backcountry. Drive to Burgdorf, a rustic and remote hot springs in the summer, or snowmobile there in the winter. There are mountain bike trails all over and the hiking, fishing, and backcountry adventures on motorcycles, ATVs, and jeeps are endless.
