About Gary Scoggins

Texas Born, Texas Proud but in love with Colorado.

Gary Scoggins purchased this house in 2011

Why Gary Scoggins chose Pagosa Springs

After several years of spending our summer vacation in Pagosa, we decided to purchase our own vacation home. Our sons love the fact that they can go skiing at Wolf Creek anytime they like during the winter months. As a family, we certainly enjoy trout fishing in the San Juan River and other streams nearby. We want to share our vacation home with people who need to get away, relax and enjoy the mountain air.

What makes this house unique

Having a spacious 5000 sq ft home so we could enjoy spending time with all of our friends and family. A large basement for game and family time. Situated on a beautiful 4 acre lot in Martinez Canyon Estates, an exclusive development in the Pagosa Springs Area.

Long Weekend in Pagosa Springs ...

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed in this beautiful home at the end of July, 2017. It was very comfortable for 5 adults and 4 children. Beyond comfortable! The house is huge and nicely decorated. The beds are all extremely comfortable. Massive bonus points for equipping the home with a Pack-and-Play, stroller, and high chair!! The game room downstairs was a big hit with everyone. We spent a lot of time outside on the back deck, in comfortable chairs with cushions, drinking coffee, watching the humming birds and other wildlife. The kitchen had everything that anyone would ever need. Our family loved spending one evening at the firepit, roasting a few marshmallows and listening to music. Pagosa Springs is a beautiful location, with so much to do and not enough time to do it all! The kids (and the adults, for that matter) really enjoyed playing in the river downtown. The owner (Gary) was excellent with communication; he was very responsive and made it easy to get hold of him when necessary. We had a wonderful time in Pagosa Springs, and loved staying at this amazing home. The most frequent comment I heard afterwards was, "are we going to stay here again next summer?" The answer is "yes", absolutely, if Gary will have us again. :-)

Amazing House!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time in Pagosa Springs and staying at this house. There was more than enough room for ten adults. The kitchen has everything you need and stuff you didn't know you needed until you saw it. The front balcony is relaxing and has a good view. We went walking up behind the property and saw several deer. Gary recommended we try fishing at Williams Creek Reservoir. We didn't have any luck catching fish when we went, but the drive up there was was worth it. The scenery on the way and once you arrive is great. Plenty of picture opportunities.

At night the fire pit was great for smores. And The game room was used nightly for pool or family games.

This was our first trip to Colorado. Pagosa Springs and this house were the right choice. We definitely plan on a return trip.

Perfect family retreat.

  • 5 of 5

This is a terrific place to take a family vacation. The home was nicer than advertised. Plenty of space for the 8 adults and two toddlers in our group. The twenty somethings had a fun time playing pool, and board games in the evening after a long day of skiing at Wolf Creek. The house was far enough from town to feel like you are in the country, but only a short drive to town. We ate several meals in town "all were great"! Our favorite meals by far were spent sitting at the large dining table overlooking the valley in front of the house. Each morning we would see a rabbit that seemed to make its daily rounds past the front porch "much to my granddaughter's delight". On other occasions we saw deer near the house and off in the distance. I would recommend this place to all my friends.

We had an amazing time staying here! We had 2 other families staying in the house with us, and there was plenty of space to sleep and plenty of space for the kids to have their own area to play. We skied several days, went sledding, and relaxed. Every detail has been thought of, and it made us feel right at home. If we had any questions, the owner was always available. He had to tell us where the closest sledding hill was because the snow from the week before had melted so we weren't able to sled from the house. It was a perfect vacation with many memories!!!!!

Pagosa Springs derives its name from the healing waters of the hot springs in town and surrounding area. There are several spas that are available for soaking and wonderful massages for relaxation. Whitewater rafting and tubing is very popular on the San Juan River in the summer months. The fishing in the area is exceptional on the San Juan and other rivers and lakes in the area. Pagosa Springs Golf Club is a 27 hole PGA style course open to the public. Hunting for big-game in the San Juan National Forest during the fall has shown to be some of the best in Colorado. Skiing at Wolf Creek is awesome! Wolf Creek on average gets more snowfall than any other ski area in Colorado. There are so many activities that you, your friends and family can do within one hours drive: Narrow Gauge Railroad in Durango, Durango Mountain Resort, Vallecito Lake, Zipline. What makes Pagosa so attractive is the many festivals, art shows, cycling rallys and cultural events planned throughout the year. Come Join the Fun!
