Overview

About the property

A luxurious 4 bedroom, 4.5 bathroom custom home with 5-star finishes.

The Eagles Nest is an upscale, professionally decorated Big Springs home with 4 bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms and a private outdoor hot tub (brand new May 2017). The Eagles Nest is ideal for a gathering of friends and family, with soaring cathedral ceilings throughout, a giant wood burning fireplace fashioned from huge stones, and light streaming in through abundant windows. You will be greeted by beautiful slate floors, original oil paintings and fine leather furniture in the common areas. Enjoy the silence and extreme comfort of hydronic radiant heating throughout plus free high speed wi-fi. If you're visiting in the Summer, you'll enjoy the central air conditioning, a very rare feature in this region.

The chef’s kitchen features granite countertops, a Viking 6-burner cooktop, stainless steel fridge, freezer, microwave oven, conventional oven and convection oven, dual sinks, Belgian waffle maker, slow cooker, hand mixer, blender, toaster, toaster oven and all the pots, pans and cooking utensils you could possibly need. 3 coffee makers help you get just what you want in the morning: Keurig maker, traditional Cuisinart coffee maker, and an espresso maker. The great room has a 42 inch plasma TV with DVD player, DirecTV, and theater sound. Elsewhere on the main floor, a billiards table is accompanied by a wet bar. An alcove has its own gas fireplace, a TV on which kids can watch DVDs and a laser printer/photo copier/fax machine. The dining room table seats 12 and the breakfast bar seats an additional 6. Upstairs is a common area with couch that folds into a very comfortable queen sized bed (no really, it's amazing and not your typical terrible sofa bed) and a 40 inch LCD TV that can be used for watching DVDs or playing video games (if you bring your own console). A laundry room offers high end, large capacity Kenmore washer and dryer. The garage has room for 2 cars, a 240V receptacle for your electric vehicle, and contains firewood you are free to use. Off the garage you’ll find the mudroom is perfect for storing coats, boots and the like. On the stone patio, enjoy the private brand new (installed May 2017) hot tub—which seats 4 adults—and barbecue using the huge stainless steel Weber gas grill.

Bedrooms each have their own private bathroom en suite and feature European goose down pillows, top quality mattresses, high thread count bedding, bathrobes and Turkish cotton towels to make you comfortable (in case you are allergic to down pillows, we also have 2 pairs of hypoallergenic non-down pillows in closets). The master suite features a king bed, gas fireplace, balcony, jetted spa tub and standing shower. The second bedroom features a queen bed and private bathroom. The third bedroom has a king bed and private bathroom. The fourth bedroom has 3 bunk beds (to sleep 6) plus a bathroom. The upstairs common area has a queen sized sleeper sofa that is remarkably comfortable and firm and 89 inches in length--not your usual flimsy, terrible fold out couch where your feet hang off the end.

Situated on half of an acre on a private cul-de-sac in the prestigious Big Springs neighborhood above the Village, Eagles Nest is a 10-minute walk (or a 1-minute drive) to the Timberline chair lift. The property features a grass backyard and natural forest and backs up to the Tompkins Memorial hiking trail. The Northstar shuttle service will pick up your group at the end of the driveway—just call and the shuttle usually arrives within minutes—and take you to the Village or recreation center for free. The rec center—available to guests for just $2 per visit—offers multiple swimming pools, a huge hot tub, a gym and, in the summer, tennis courts. The Northstar Village offers several great restaurants and bars, an ice-skating / roller-skating rink, a movie theater, a Starbucks and plenty of shopping. From The Eagles Nest, you may walk / hike down to the Village in less than 10 minutes on hiking paths and a natural stone stairway maintained by Northstar (though the path is not suitable for the frail or elderly nor when snow is on the ground).

If you do not bring a pet, we do not require a security deposit. Instead, we include a $59 insurance policy in every rental that covers $1,500 of property damage. If you do want to bring a pet, please request approval of the Owner when you inquire; bringing a pet necessitates a $2,000 refundable security deposit because the above-mentioned insurance only covers damage by people and does not cover damage by pets.

Enjoy 8pm checkout on Sundays January through May. Wrap up your day of fun, shower and refresh, and drive back after some of the traffic has eased!

Each visit must include a single, complete weekend (the Friday and Saturday nights must be back to back) unless you want to visit only for weeknights. For example, staying Thursday - Monday or Friday - Thursday are permitted; staying Saturday - Saturday is not permitted. Weekly rates assume a single, complete weekend (the Friday and Saturday nights must be back to back) plus 5 weeknights.

If you are booking more than 6 months in advance, we can accept a 25% deposit at time of booking with 75% due 6 months prior to check in. Contact the owner if you would like to request these payment terms.

About Jon Venverloh

We love gatherings of family and friends and chose this home because the layout of the common areas brings people together. At the same time, the bedrooms are quiet and private, and each has its own bathroom.

Jon Venverloh purchased this house in 2005

Why Jon Venverloh chose Lake Tahoe North Shore CA

This is a beautiful custom home built in 2002 to the highest standards. Big Springs homes are mostly 2nd and 3rd homes, so there is little traffic and it's extremely quiet. Take hikes right out the back door. In typical winters, it's even possible to ski in if you know the way!

What makes this house unique

The Eagles Nest is situated on about 1/2 of an acre with a very gentle slope towards the street. There is lots of space between homes in the Big Springs neighborhood. The driveway is easy to manage, unlike some of the properties in Tahoe.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Jon, we had a fabulous week at your Eagles Nest. Your home is absolutely beautiful and was perfect for our family. We were very impressed with the Northstar community, shuttles, village, etc. The fireworks on New years eve were an added bonus. We all went out to the end of your street and there they were, bursting beautifully right in front of us! This truly was a dream vacation for our family. Thank you for sharing your home.

Perfect vacation spot!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at Eagles Nest a number of times through the years and just love it. It is clean, beautifully appointed, a very comfortable house for our family. The hot tub and pool table were enjoyed by all. We look forward to staying again next year.

Beautiful home in Northstar

  • 5 of 5

This 4 bedroom home was very comfortable for our group of 6 adults and two children. The home worked especially well with having our 2 year old and 3 year old grandchildren with us. The home is very organized and it was easy to find everything you needed in the kitchen. Loved that all the electrical switches were labeled to indicate what light it worked. This house would not be the best if you had someone in your group that could not easily get up and down stairs. It was quite a chore to get luggage, etc. up the stairs and into the house. I would definitely recommend staying at this beautiful home which was close to Northstar Village and about 6 miles to Kings Beach.

Eagles Nest review...

  • 5 of 5

The pictures do not do this property justice. Its pretty much new construction and has all the amenities you need. One of my biggest gripes with high end rental properties in the past is when it's time to cook the kitchen does not contain the basic amenities and barware. That is not the case with the Eagles Nest. When it was time to cook and entertain we where left not wanting a thing. I went with a group of friends and not with my family but this home is very well suited for children as well. I noticed a bunch of toys neatly packed away and other amenities. As a father I appreciated that. Jon the home owner was beyond accommodating, answering all my questions sometimes even within 15 minutes. The property is just under a 5 minute drive to Northstar. After a hard day of mountain biking at Northstar it was great to be back at the property in no time. I would highly recommend this property and look forward to staying here in the future!

This house is awesome!

  • 5 of 5

This Eagles Nest home is wonderful! Our two families had an awesome time there during our baseball tournement. The pool table and hot tub were a perfect way to spend the evening after a day at the beach & ball field. Justin the property mgr was extremely prompt on his response to our questions. We definitely plan to stay here again!!

Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. We really enjoyed our stay. It was so nice to have the " extras", i.e. Shuttle, pool access, hot tub and lovely, peaceful patios to relax on.

We also enjoyed having pool games in the evening.

Thank you, it was great!

  • 4 of 5

Thank you for a wonderful week, your house is lovely! We had a large group and got much use out of the pool table and hot tub, they were great and appeared new and well maintained. The house is full of appliances and gadgets that seem fun to use but some may be a bit advanced without lessons! There is a book that explains everything in the house but we were still unable to work the very professional espresso machine and the dryer kept turning itself off mid cycle. Other than these very minor details we had a fabulous week and loved the access to the Northstar facilities. Thank you, we'd love to see it in the winter!
