Peaceful

  • 4 of 5

A very nice place to stay. The creek behind the cabin was very peaceful. We did have a mouse one night lol. I wish the grass had been mowed. But over all great

Cozy Home next to the River! Would definitely return! (However, could be better maintained)

  • 3 of 5

Travel Timeframe: Early May

Overall it was a great location, cozy home and a perfect floor plan for our group! We had 3 families (total of 5 adults and 1 kid), each family slept on a different floor. The fireplace is fantastic and I loved all the window seats around the living areas. Plenty of sunshine and light through out the house to over look the river. We spent our nights gathered in the living room roasting marsh mellows, drinking wine or bourbon and spending time talking as a family. Memories we won't forget. The deck was wonderful, but I believe it needs a few repairs in some places. Would have liked more comfortable seating on the deck. However, I understand their are wild animals in the area.

Plumbing was an issue. We had an issue with one of the toilets. However, when we called the property management company they came out immediately to check the issue and it was fixed the next day while we were in YellowStone Park. Great customer service!

The reasoning for the 3 out of 5 stars was that the house has good amenities, in a great location, but does need better repairs and better up-keep. Bugs are an issue. There were flys throughout the house and in the kitchen, along with carpenter ants. Many of the blinds were broken, like in the downstairs bedroom and were unable to be opened. We would request that the deck be inspected--it was pretty wobbly in parts.

We would definitely come back, but would give the next family a few things to note. The area was great. It was the perfect distance from town, with groceries and restaurants within decision range but far enough out that you felt like you were in the woods. Especially if the pass was open, it would be an ideal launchpad to several great areas (Billings, Yellowstone, etc...)

*Note: If you're considering visiting Yellowstone, make sure you're aware that the NE gate to Yellowstone (the closest gate to this home) does not open until after Memorial day.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review and feedback. We are aware of the blinds and they are being replaced over time, but we will try to speed up this approach. The flies and bugs are attended to with a pest control contract but being a cabin in the woods of Montana sometimes presents little surprises that we can't always prevent. We will pass on your feedback for deck furniture to the home owner and hopefully by the next time you visit this will be an offering that only enhances the wonderful space of the decks by the creek. Yes, the Beartooth Highway, a spectacular drive topping out at almost 11,000 ft., is only open seasonally from Memorial Day to Labor Day, weather dependent. Although, Cheif Joseph Highway also offers a wonderful drive to Cooke City and the NE entrance of Yellowstone National Park, which is generally open sooner than the Beartooth Pass. We do hope we can host you again in Red Lodge!

Wonderful place to visit

  • 4 of 5

Everything was wonderful there were a couple curtains that don't pull up one in the bedroom upstairs and the other in the room with the twin beds downstairs other than that everything was exceptional

What a relaxing time!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a short stay and loved it. The first night saw the black bear in the yard and as it knocked over the garbage can - kids where thrilled!!

The home was immaculate, cozy and well stocked. All of us has the most relaxing time of our lives by creek and taking in some sites. I would highly recommend this to anyone considering the home, it was as dream come true for us!

Better Than Advertised

  • 5 of 5

I have used VRBO for years... and this was hands-down, the BEST home away from home ever. The cabin's spacious, open floor plan made gathering easy... big kitchen with lots of counters, a killer view, stools to curl up on and yes, just about everything you need to do full scale cooking. Big wide window seats to get cozy reading with the warmth of the autumn sun...heaven. Living room with comfortable furniture and a giant old-fashioned fireplace, tools at the ready, and a stack of wood just steps away on the deck. If you love making a fire and relaxing with the sounds and warmth that only a real fire can bring, you are in for a treat.

And maybe best of all... there's the wide open deck that overlooks the definitely noisy creek literally yards away with tall birch and pine trees surrounding you. It lulls you to sleep every night and lures the moose who cross it nearby every morning. At night, the stars are so bright you can almost reach up and touch them. Comfortable beds on three levels, and everything as clean as a whistle. Private, quiet, with wildlife all around, remote location but five minutes from downtown... a postcard everywhere you look. Hiking, biking, walking, sight-seeing... all within a couple minutes. We were so grateful for our host's thoughtfulness...down to small "homey" touches and the coffee (thank goodness) that was ready to go on our first morning. Everything you think you need, just look and it was there!!! Could've stayed another week (sigh) to complete our de"stress" ing, so we'll just have to come back again! But in the meantime, if you want a perfect, peaceful and comfortable retreat with amazing mountain views...."Good Medicine" should be at the top of your list.

Perfect cabin for getaway and amazing nature

  • 5 of 5

As in title. Big cabin, well equipped and cleaned.

Very close to nature and wild life. I.e. Woodbine, Big Horn canyon, Big Horn Mt., Pryor Mt. And Billinds only one or two hours drive away.

Moose and deer just outside the door.

For us - 2 couples absolutely perfect.
