3 bedroom, 1.5 baths, views and on 522 acre Pike Lake, near Pike Lake State Park
In May 2015 we completed replacement of the kitchen with all new cabinets, solid surface counters, lighting, flooring, all appliances (including full size dishwasher). New flooring in the 1/2 bath and dining area. Some furnishings were replaced as well.
Sand Beach and Great swimming frontage with hard rippled sand bottom on clean and clear 522 acre lake. Both young and old enjoy floating or playing in the water. All water sports are permitted including water skiing and jet skis. Winter snowmobiling trails only 300 feet away in Washington County and nearby Dodge County. Popular ice fishing lake. There are more ice fishing shanties in winter than boats in summer.
We only have this property and clean and care for it ourselves to ensure everything is ready to make those great memories. Duvet cover and blankets are washed after each guest.
One side of your private pier is included in your rental fee. Pier is left in until the end of October for some great fall fishing. Assorted life jackets are supplied . Motorized pontoon boats and fishing boats may be rented at nearby (three buildings away) Reef Point Resort. They also have row boats, canoes, and additional paddle boats, for those looking to get some exercise.
It has Wi-Fi, High Speed Internet, 3 TVs with cable, DVD Players, DVD library, book library, board games, and a nautical theme throughout.
The home includes all dishes, utensils, linens, bedding, towels, life jackets, water flotation toys, games, Cinderella toy kitchen, toys.
There is also a frog sandbox and sand toys outside. They can entertain the kids for hours. Also there is a wagon, and upon request, a Little Tyke scooter and a car for the kids to use outside.
This home has a lakeside patio with adjustable height charcoal grill, 2 patio tables, chairs, etc.
Home is about 1950 square feet, (more than just a cottage), with central heat and air conditioning. One bedroom is huge with bay window overlooking the lake and a queen size bed (replaced in 2017). The second upstairs bedroom, very large, has a queen size bed (plus a race car toddler bed) and large windows to enjoy the unobstructed lake views. Race car bed could also be moved to the other upstairs bedroom if you wish. The third bedroom is located on the main level with two twin beds and great lake views. There is also a full size futon on the first floor. There is a 'Porta Crib' for your youngest sweethearts.
There is very ample paved parking and a large rear grassy yard; lakeside fire pit for campfires; boat launch very nearby (at Reef Point Resort) and at Pike Lake State Park across the lake with a beach and great hiking trails (they have maps that tell you how long each route is).
No Smoking! No Cats!
The home you would be renting is the closest building to the lake. The lake side of the home is close to the waters edge, about 30 feet. Don't be fooled by some maps or GPS systems that make it seem far away . That happens because the lot is 397 feet deep and it shows the address as the spot at the road or the center of the lot and not where the house is. It is known as a premier fishing lake in /Southeastern WI and the fishing is great. On 7/14/14 the neighbor caught a 37 inch walleye. Even in winter there were over 50 ice fishing shanties at one time. You will love it here if you enjoy catching Walleyes, Bass, Pike, Northern, or pan fish. (Sept.2011 - A renter reported catching a 30 inch Nothhern from the pier in their first three hours there. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) helps out the fish population by stocking. The sun over the Lake and the colors of the sky are awsome on most days. You will probably also enjoy the beautiful fall color in late September and October with the trees at Pike lake State Park directly across the lake. I saw three deer last time I was on a short hike at the park.
Only 7.8 miles, about 13 minutes to Erin Hills Golf Course - site of the 2017 US Open! Near other local great golf courses.
Only 20 minutes from Milwaukee with a world class zoo, Betty Brin Childrens Museum as well as Milwaukee Public Museum, Milwaukee Brewer baseball, art galleries, Brewery tours, Pabst mansion tours, Lake Michigan Lakefront and beaches, live theater, comedy clubs, many ethnic festivals and the largest music fest in the USA - Summerfest, Wisconsin State Fair in early August, etc.
Property is about one hour from Madison, WI; an hour and a quarter from Appleton,WI; and less than two hours from Chicago. Close to Holy Hill Church, about 10 minutes.
A trip to Green Bay and Lambeau Field, home of the NFL Green Bay Packers is an easy day trip. Many enjoy shopping the quaint shops, winery and boutiques in Cedarburg, WI, about 35 minutes drive.

About Bonnie or Jerry Gellert
My wife Bonnie and I live on another lake about 20 minuites away and never get tired of peacefulness that being on a lake provides. We also enjoy the sunrises, ducks, loons and fish. We have many family members in the area and a farm that is still family run in nearby Allenton. Bonnie and I originally purchased this property to be our home but were unable to modify it to meet our needs.
Bonnie or Jerry Gellert purchased this House in 2007
Why Bonnie or Jerry Gellert chose Hartford
This property offers a walk-in sand beach that is very rare for the area, offers a much larger size than typical cottages so as not to feel cramped and caters to families and family gatherings. Winter offers snowmobile trails 300 feet away and ice fishing. Close to Erin Hills (7.8 miles) and less traffic being North than if you stay South of Erin Hills.
What makes this House unique
Across the Lake from Pike Lake State Park, large parking areas as well as a large yard, home is close to waters edge (about 30 feet away).

Clean and Comfortable
Rental was very clean and comfortable from the moment that we showed up. The water was great to be next to and even though it was still early in the year the water felt great. Everything was close to the property for any needs that we had. My family and I had a great time and made use of the entire place. Couldn't have had a better time staying there.
Spaciously Cozy Lake Retreat
We love traveling with our two dachshunds and appreciate a VRBO property owner that allows pets. Hartford is a historic little town just North of Milwaukee. It has all the required conveniences of a larger town closely located near this lake house. The house itself is spacious, clean, with great amenities. We like traveling light and it's appreciated when bedding and towels are provided. The house has nice updates combined with a cozy classic style. The view of the lake was unbelievable. My wife said she could have just stayed in the house all day looking at the lake. We had things to do in Milwaukee on our trip and this was a great place to stay for our day trips into the city. Jerry the home owner called me on our first evening to make sure everything was going well and I really appreciated his concern that all was going well. I would recommend the house to anyone and would not hesitate to book the house in the future for a longer stay.
Thanks for the great review. You couldn't have been a better guest!
Panoramic lake views!
A lovely house situated on a sandy beach with gorgeous views across the lake . The house is well appointed with every convenience and comfort and the location can't be beat, hiking trails and great restaurants and coffee shops are just minutes away. We look forward to another vacation here.
We had a great time. The house was very clean and right on the water. The owners are so nice and easy to reach. It's an older house with some updates to the kitchen. We cooked a few meals, and used the grill and fire pit. A few doors away from a bar and boat rental area. Great for our group of adults. We had a fun day on the lake when the weather finally cooperated!! The view of State Park across the lake was beautiful. We plan to come back next fall!
Sorry, the weather could have been better!
The kitchen was totally replaced including: flooring, cabinets, solid surface counters, all new stainless steel appliances, lighting in ceiling.
Welcome break from the Comfort Inn
My husband and I were in the area for three weeks as my Mother-in-law was in the Kathy Hospice, West Bend. Comfort Inn was the only hotel close by that allowed dogs and that was not working out well.
Jerry and Bonnie were great at working with us and our schedule and did everything possible to accommodate us during a very difficult time. When we were not at the Hospice, we were able to enjoy some down time by the fire, eat home cooked meals and actually get sleep in decent beds.
Jim and Darla
Happy that we could provide a little stress relief during a difficult time.
bright, clean, beautiful, comfortable, accommodating
From the moment we made the first inquiry to the moment we (sadly) locked the door to leave everything was perfect! The owners were very responsive to us, the home is roomy with a beautiful view on a wonderful lake with a sandy bottom. Everything was provided -- we could not have asked for anything more and will be back.
Thanks for your glowing review. Glad it was perfect!
See you next summer. Bonnie & Jerry
