About Georgia Hall or Glen Hall

We are Glen and Georgia Hall and we live in Columbus, GA. Our goal has been to retire to the Smokey Mountains and when the opportunity to buy now and build memories with our children arose we jumped at the chance. I hope you enjoy Bear Hall as much as we do.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We rented this comfortable and nicely decorated home in deep woods for the full month of August to get away from the summer heat of Florida and to play golf in cool weather. Bear Hall has excellent amenities including an updated kitchen, a spaciaous and comfortable master bedroom and bath. We appreciate for the kindness of Georgia and Glen from the contract process at the beginning to the end of our stay to ensure our visit to Bear Hall would be a great one. We also appreciate for their generosity of providing not only necessary products such as toilet papers, kleenex tissues, paper towels, soaps, etc. enough for first few days, but also letting us to use their condiments in kitchen. Although we purchased our own we appreciated their offer. The Bear Hall and this wonderful mountain region will be a truly memorable place to us. Thank you!

P.S. 1) Be sure to visit the next town, Highlands (20-25 min drive) which has many great restaurants and shops. A fun place to visit! 2) For golfers - We highly recommend to play at the Mountain Top Golf and Lake Country Club and the Burlingame Golf Club.

A lovely, well maintained, beautiful unit. Very comfortable beds and well stocked kitchen. Had everything you would need for food preparation. Large TVs in bedroom and living room. Great fireplace. Rear decks on both levels to sit down with a cup of coffee and look at the woods. Close to shopping and restaurants. Try the Carolina Smokehouse. The Hall's are hospitable and friendly. Looking forward to another stay!!!

The renovations done are nice but will need more in the future.

The sliding glass door in master bedroom wouldn't open without a struggle and the handle was broken so it was even harder. Owners knew of condition before they put in rental market and said the door had to be replaced and was waiting to end of season. Had to have it open because there were no AC/heating vents anywhere downstairs in bedroom or bathroom. There was no air moving so they have 2 fans available so they must be aware of this issue. Very uncomfortable, wet feeling on sheets and in room at night.

The odor was atrocious, smelled wet and moldy. We immediately went to grocery store in cashiers and bought numerous air fresheners. Water damage on screen patio and mushrooms are growing on ceiling.Water damage in living room next to sliding glass door. The refrigerator door handle fell off first day, I was able to put back on and tighten the set screws. The washing machine handle broke the morning we left.

The amount of money we spent you would expect to have air conditioning in the master bed and bath. Very disappointed in the condition and the smells. I find it hard to believe all the reviews I read before I booked. I wouldn't recommend anyone rent this unit until these repairs are remedied especially if anyone has allergies.

Owner's Response: I'm very sorry you didn't enjoy your stay. We have had renters all summer without complaint of smell. Since your stay we have had the handle on the downstairs door repaired so the door can more easily be opened. We are unaware of water damage in the living room but are going up this weekend and will address any damage or outstanding odors.

Cozy Cabin

  • 5 of 5

This property is well maintained. The owners were very accessible. It is a great location, although a little far from Highlands. We found that it was a great basecamp for hiking and visiting waterfalls in the Cashiers area. We did not utilize the amenities at Saphire Valley, but they seemed to be nice. We also really enjoyed having Netflix when we retired for the evening. We would rent here again.
