About Jo Ann Hemelrick
I was born in New Jersey at the shore. I grew up in Cape Coral, FL since I was 12. I went to High School at North Fort Myers High and am attending University of Phoenix and am currently a Junior. I am 52 and married. We currently live in Ocala, FL and have lived here for 8 years, previously we lived and worked in Cape Coral, FL where we raised our daughter. Our daughter and son-in-law live in Chicago, IL. They are young techy's who live and work in the city.
Jo Ann Hemelrick purchased this Bungalow in 2011
Why Jo Ann Hemelrick chose Ormond Beach
My husband and I purchased this bungalow thinking it would be a great place for our family members to vacation and a great place to meet up other then in Ocala. Unfortunately everyone can only get away a few times a year due to work and life. I love this house because of the wood beam ceilings. They just grabbed me and I had to have it. The rest of the house needed a lot of work and updating, so myself, my husband, and my brother totally renovated and updated entire house both skin and bones. I love to decorate so that was the fun part for me.
What makes this Bungalow unique
What I really loved about this house was high wood beam ceilings and the house is only 1 block from the beach. This house is located in between the ocean and the Halifax River. I love the drive down A1A and the drive down John Anderson Ave along the river. This house is located right in between million dollar homes at either end of the street. It's just enough house to enjoy vacation time at the beach, Daytona, Disney and St. Augustine. You can even sit out on the small front porch and enjoy the weather. We were able to design the kitchen ourselves since the previous kitchen was practically non existent. Most nights you can sit on either porch and hear the ocean, it is very relaxing.

Great little place for a great price.
Very nice amenities and upgrades inside. And just enough room for us--a retired couple with a small dog. No problem, either, sharing it with our adult daughter when she visited for a few days. We didn't take advantage of many activities to the south of Sea La Vie, but we did discover lots to enjoy to the north. Snack Jack's serves great food with a super ocean view. Palm Coast is a lovely community with many parks and trails. Captain Rick (Sailing Winsome at Halifax Harbor) provided a great sailing experience. As she did last year, Jo Ann had everything well-prepared for our arrival at Sea La Vie and took good care of our few last minute needs.
I am so glad you were pleased with the accommodations at Sea La Vie vacation rental. I am excited to have you return next year and discover all the wonderful places to see south of the property. You were a wonderful guest! Thank you!
Great location, cute beach house with everything you need supplied. I loved it here.
My first impression was what a cute beach house with a nice fenced in back yard. The location was very nice with only a block and a half walk to the beach. When the owner said everything was supplied, I found that hard to believe, so I brought my own towels, sheets, pans and toiletries. What a mistake I made, everything was supplied ( with the exception of bringing your clothing). If you are looking for a great place to stay, this place is it!! It’s in a great location, the house is clean, the beds are comfortable and the house is in walking distance to the grocery store. Thanks so much for such a wonderful time here !! Also, Joann is wonderful!! She’s a great help at getting you in to see a dentist. She called a dentist when she knew I was having a toothache. The dentist called me and said he would see me right away. As it turned out it wasn’t my tooth, it was my sinuses. Thank you Joann. To all of you who are reading this review and are looking for a really nice place to stay———— This place is it!! Enjoy!!
Great close to the beach
We love it! Has everything that we need specially with back yard for my puppy.
So close to the beach.
Charming and Welcoming
My husband, two toddlers and I recently traveled to Ormond for a funeral and stumbled upon this gem when we were looking for accommodations. Are we ever glad that we did!
After a brief mix up upon check in, we were welcomed by the warm comfort that the home (and owners) had to offer. Everything was so cozy and beach-y, which was a fun break when traveling from the cold north. The kitchen and bathroom were so well stocked - if we'd only brought our clothes and computers, we would've had everything else we needed for our stay. My daughter loved staying in "the fishy bed" and we all enjoyed every minute we spent here, especially considering the sad reason for which we were traveling.
Beautiful comfy little home that's close to the beach, restaurants and Daytona.
Totally enjoyed our stay the week of Thanksgiving. We look forward to future stays at this location.
Beautiful little house in nice neighborhood. Close to the ocean. Very Clean, very restful. I would definitely go back! We left early because of Hurricane Irma, but the house has everything you need for a wonderful ocean visit!
Thank you so much for your reviews. we are so pleased that you enjoyed the neighborhood and the beach, at least before Irma landed. Please visit again!
St. Augustine is a 40 minute scenic drive up A1A. Daytona Speedway is approx. 12 miles from rental. Disney is a 1 1/2 hour drive. Daytona is 5 miles south on A1A. You must go to Jacks Shack restuarant about 8 miles north on A1A right on the ocean. Joes Crab Shack on the pier in Daytona is a must see. The farmers market has all the in season fresh fruits and vegetables. The Daytona flea market is just down the road.
