A pub and inn very close to old York town center.

Great pub and inn that offers a few rooms. Place used to be a mess for cavalry officers (hence the name) in the 19th Century. As such, the building is old and has a lot of charm. The rooms are basic but comfortable, and house-keeping does the bare minimum. This wasn't a problem for me but those looking for posh places/services should look elsewhere. Price was just right for a weekend stay in York.

The Lighthorseman was in a good position to either head into the city or get on a ring road to avoid the traffic which can be quite heavy with little streets mkre suited to a medieval town.
Parking was easy and free. We had a pretty good meal in the bar. Staff were helpful.
We misread the details of the room, it says includes full kitchen and we spend a lot ofour time in self catering facilities, so it was dissappointing to find not even a mini fridge in the room. There were coffee and tea making facilities.
Probably our mistake.
