beautiful remote property.

We had a wonderfully relaxing week at this tranquil mountain retreat. Horses, ponds, fishing and hiking on 180 acres was amazing. The cabin was perfect, and so was the weather!

Beautiful, Relaxing Place

  • 5 of 5

Loved the cabin! We especially enjoyed sitting out on the patio in the mornings listening to the stream while we rocked in the rocking chairs. Also enjoyed walking our little dog around the property and visiting the two horses. The guy taking care of them was very nice and let us feed them some carrots we had brought for them. The cabin was well stocked with dishes, pots, pans, spices, etc. Enjoyed being able to relax on the comfy sofa and watch netflix in the evening. Wifi was useful since we had no internet on our phones in the cabin. Nice, comfy beds including two king size ones.

The cabin felt secluded but was fairly close to a lot of things to do. We spent time in Dahlonega, Amicalola Falls, Anna Ruby Falls, Brasstown Bald, Blue Ridge, Vogel State Park, visited Mercier Apple Orchard for some fried pies, apples and cider and drove to Murphy, NC to see the total eclipse.

Overall a wonderful vacation, and we were sad to leave. Hope to be back soon!!

Great location and beautiful property

  • 5 of 5

We have been visiting N Georgia/NC area annually for many years. Our main purpose is for hiking the many trails in the area. The location of this property is perfect for that. Within a few miles you can be at the Woody Gap entrance to the AT; Lake Winfield Scott (Slaughter Creek Trail up to Blood Mountain) Lake Vogel (Bear Hair Gap trail), Cooper's Creek Rec area to name just a few day hikes near the property.

The property itself is surrounded by the Chattahoochee National Forest. It's very quiet and peaceful and the sound of the creek running behind the house is worth the price of admission.

The cabin/house was clean and spacious. We will definitely come back.

Beautiful Property!!

  • 4 of 5

Our family stayed at the Riverhouse in mid July and really enjoyed walking around the many acres of this property while enjoying the apple orchards, scenic views and streams throughout. There is another rental house on the large property, and we also saw some people camping out in tents at the back of the property; however, it is far enough away where you don't even notice unless you are walking around.

The Riverhouse is a rustic cabin-type home in a mostly wooded area with a nice view of the stream below. Although the AC unit was not working when we arrived, the caretaker quickly came out and fixed the problem. The home had a nice leather sectional couch in the living room with 3 reclining seats that we all enjoyed after a day of hiking and outdoor activities. The back porch was very nice with sounds of the stream below which was very relaxing. The amenities were nice and as described.

Although our experience was mostly positive and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit, I would just like to point out a few issues that we had. The gate to enter the property has a chain and padlock (locked after dark) which is somewhat difficult to open especially if you arrive when its dark. All of the bedding had flannel sheets on them with the exception of one bed which is not very comfortable in mid July especially when the AC was not working when we arrived. I would also recommend that the caretaker come by the house several hours prior to check in to turn on the AC for the incoming guests since the AC unit is supposed to be turned off at checkout. It took several hours once the AC was back on to cool the house down and it ran all night. I would also suggest having an iron available for the guests to use. This is just a minor item but is sometimes needed when traveling.

Met our expectations and more. The home and setting are special, cool breezes and the sounds of burbling water sitting on the porch, it was wonderful!
