Tranquility in The Valley

  • 4 of 5

Met our expectations and more. The home and setting are special, cool breezes and the sounds of burbling water sitting on the porch, it was wonderful!

Amazing Get Away

  • 5 of 5

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We saw a bad review about too many bugs, too dark, and grass was too tall. I feel the need to point out that if you're looking for suburbs, this isn't the place for you. But if you're looking for a get away tucked away in the mountain woods, with tons of space (especially if you have dogs) this is the place for you. We all had a great time and hate to leave.

Beautiful property in a very secluded area.

  • 3 of 5

The property is absolutely gorgeous with an amazing view. The house is a very old home that has a lot of character but needs updating. The house was well stocked with supplies, linens, cookware, etc. However, the living room is very dark and does not have sufficient lighting for the space. There is a light fixture and fan but if either work we never could find the switch for them. Also when we arrived at the property it was dark and we had difficulty finding the house due to the multiple roads on the property. A suggestion I have would be to have lighted signs directing you to each property . An area of concern that we had was that even though the property was listed as non smoking it was obvious to us that someone had smoked in the house and tried to cover it up with air freshener. Overall a good vacation home on beautiful property.

Owner's Response: The lighting issue will be taken care of, there are no street lights going down our long drive but the caretaker should have left the outside house lights on for you. The A Frame style to the home makes it difficult to light up the living room with the fan light and 1 lamp but that will be resolved with 1 other floor lamp and 1 more table lamp. As far as the smoke smell I believe it was the fireplace ash reservoir that needed to be cleaned out and it also had a large piece of burnt wood that was clogging the shoot. That has been taken care of. This is an old charming home and we don't really want to make it modern and take away from that charm. We get a lot of people that say that is what they love about it. Thank you for the input.

A heavenly place

  • 4 of 5

We were up at the Riverhouse for 4 days prior to Thanksgiving.......This cabin was near perfection.... although not new, it was well-appointed and well-supplied.....Since it's a bit of a drive back into town, we took our food for 6 people for 4 nights and found the kitchen had everything we needed... the 4-slice toaster was helpful and there were a good supply of dishes and cooking utensils and pots and pans..... The beds were really comfortable and there were plenty of extra pillows and blankets.... There was a bit of a funky smell in the main floor bathroom but airsprays fixed it pretty well.... The fireplace was wonderful, however we went through wood pretty quickly as it was a very cold week.... You'll want to make sure you get all your supplies ahead, including charcoal for the grill, if you plan to stay on the property and not venture off. The drive up from Dahlonega was fabulous with the fall leaves at their peak. We found the living room to be a bit too dark, but it was cozy for sure. The porch and deck were wonderful and spacious.... AHHHH- the property was magnificent..... beautiful in every way from the apple orchard to the rolling hills and the ponds and streams... Our grandson was so excited to meet Brio and Fionna, the horses, so beautiful and friendly!!!

We immediately planned to make another trip in the spring, and wondered if there was more than one cabin available to rent as we'd like to have a family reunion. You will find this stunning property is truly a piece of God's country. The coded gate and house entry was great so we didn't have to keep up with keys. We'll not recommend this place to too many people as we don't want it to become too popular! Ha ha ha..... It's a real "find" and so close to Atlanta.

Family holiday retreat

  • 3 of 5

My family and I rented this cabin for the thanksgiving holiday, there were 5 of us which was perfect size for the rooms. The property was just as expected, beautifully surrounded by nature and lots of room to roam and explore. The stream right behind the cabin is also great to listen to while sitting on the porch relaxing. There were 3 horses that roamed free and seemed to enjoy our company. The cabin itself needs a little upkeep as there were a few things that needed improvement that would have made our stay. It was very dark, would benefit from more lighting options and there were several windows there were not covered with curtains so be prepared to rise with the sun. There was a bad smell coming from the first floor bathroom and unfortunately there were guests staying at the other cabin on the property that road 4 wheelers around/past our cabin each day so that was a bit of a disappointment as we were all there to disconnect and enjoy nature. We really liked how the cabin has a coded lock and the property is gated, that made us feel a bit safer so far remote and the kitchen did supply most of the items we needed to cook a great meal. It is a far drive down the mountain into town so we stocked up on all our groceries and items we needed prior at the Walmart about 40 minutes away. We also spent a day gold panning at one of the local businesses in town, that was a lot of fun. Overall, the cabin just needs some TLC and small improvements- but we really enjoyed our stay.

Owner's Response: I am glad you enjoyed yourself and the things mentioned that I can control will be addressed. It is 185 acres so I would hope the couple of four-wheelers that the family brought with them at the other house did not have to pass your house too often. I apologize for that noise but it is not very often that people bring their own four-wheelers.
