Susan and Jeff Diedrich
About Susan and Jeff Diedrich
I grew up just North of Hayward, and moved back ten years ago after several years in 'the big city' of Minneapolis. The North Woods is in our blood, and I'm delighted to be raising two young children up here with my husband.
Susan and Jeff Diedrich purchased this Cabin in 1990
Why Susan and Jeff Diedrich chose Hayward
My husband, Jeff, and I fell in love with these cabins on this beautifully wooded property the minute we saw them, and have spent lots of happy times here with our children, including kayaking the beautiful lake. A dear friend of ours owns the property, and as she lives elsewhere, has asked that we manage the properties for rent.

The property was as described in the listing. Check in was very easy and they were quick to respond to any questions we had. The property was only a short drive to nearby restaurants and downtown Hayward. We would definitely come back!
Just as described.
Our family loved staying at this property - there were over 10 of us from three generations, but with the ability to spread out between the two cabins plus the gazebo, two docks and other little hideaways to sit and relax, everyone was able to have their own space when needed. My boys loved using the kayaks and exploring the lake plus we had success catching some nice bass. An added perk was the fresh blueberries and raspberries that were in the garden on the property - we used them for fresh blueberry pancakes and smoothies - YUM! We will definitely try to get back some day!
This was our second trip back to this property and we were again very please with our stay. We are a large family with eight kids, ten in all, and it's difficult to find a single property that meets all of our needs. But here there is ample room for everyone between the two cabins and plenty of privacy. The property itself is lovely with beautiful landscaping and a lovely garden. Several days during our stay we helped ourselves to fresh raspberries from the garden. Both cabins are clean and in good working order. We were all comfortable and had no issues of any kind. Jeff and Susan who manage the property are kind, friendly folks. Feel confident when working with them. As for the lake, it's wonderful! We have spent some time on various lakes in the Hayward area and Lake Placid we believe makes the best location for a nice lake vacation. It's fairly small, so good for canoeing and kayaking. But Plaice connects into the Tiger Cat chain of lakes if you're looking for more adventure. The wildlife on this lake is fantastic! The fishing during our stay was pretty good too. Our family gives this property two thumbs way up and we are all hoping to come back for a third summer next year.
Thanks Jeff and Susan!

As usual...a wonderful place.
This was our second trip to The Duet, and the place was just as charming and wonderful as the first time we visited. The lake is quiet and full of fish, the grounds are immense and the screen porch offers a wonderful view. Really nice for a large group. We heart The Duet.
We rented this property as 5 adults and 4 dogs. The two cabins were perfect for us. It is a little odd that the cabin with 2 bedrooms and a loft had one bath, while the cabin with 1 bedrooms and a loft had two, but it worked for us. The only thing that we would have liked more was having a beach and being closer to the water. We rented a pontoon boat and kept it at the dock and kayaks everyday. At night we would hear the loons and bulldogs. The dogs loved exploring the trails and chasing frogs. We left the property only 2 or 3 times the whole week - it was so relaxing and welcoming.
Quiet retreat 12 miles from Hayward, near golf courses, LCO casino, horseback riding, antiquing, many supper clubs and resorts. You can stay put and enjoy all that the lake and property have to offer or take advantage of the many attractions around the hayward area.
