Why Andy Tillmann chose Northeast

Our cabin was completely remodeled in 2012 including tongue and groove hickory ceilings, hickory hardwood and ceramic tile flooring, new kitchen and new bathroom. Sliding glass door leads to a large deck with great views of Pike Lake. There is also a covered parking area for cars, boats or snowmobiles.

What makes this cabin unique

Pike Lake is located just 11 miles from Grand Marais, near Lutsen, MN. Fishermen will find a variety of fish including walleye and northern pike. The cabin is surrounded by cedar and pine trees with amazing views of Pike Lake. The lake frontage is great for swimming and relaxing. Nearby are Cross Country Ski Trails, State Snowmobile Trail and Hiking Trails along the Cascade River.

Quiet and Cozy

  • 5 of 5

We had a really nice time on Pike Lake. Our 2 kids (12 & 9) loved the dock and kayaks. We loved the very comfortable bed and spending quality time away from everything. The bathtub was very deep and my family loved it. Not fancy, but had everything we needed and comfortable. I probably would have preferred a pull out couch to the futon, but it worked out just fine.

Comfortable Stay

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at this cabin for 3 nights and enjoyed our time. We had easy access to many grouse hunting locations. We brought fishing poles with but didn't get a chance as the ice was already on the lake by shore. The cabin was clean and welcoming.

Just to note, this cabin is in a community of 5 cabins-so if you are looking to get away and piece and quiet, you will have neighbors. There is a view from the main bedroom and the living room sliding doors of the lake; you aren't right on the lake but you are very close. Also, as another reviewer pointed out, the bedrooms are not enclosed-ie there is a gap between the wall and the ceiling (to allow for heat circulation I imagine).

We felt some hooks could be added to the bedroom walls for hanging up clothing, a deck of cards should be added and maybe some other games would be a nice addition to the cabin. There was a puzzle (and an older chess set) but the lighting created too much of a glare to complete it.

Beautiful Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this beautiful cabin for 5 nights and has a wonderful time. The property is right on the lake and we took full advantage of the provided kayaks. The cabin has everything you need to make you feel right at home. Close to Grand Marais and hiking, this is the perfect place for the North Shore getaway. We are already considering another stay.

Peaceful and Cozy

  • 5 of 5

We arrived on a rainy day, but it sure didn't dampen the cozy atmosphere of this clean, welcoming cabin! It was the perfect setting for celebrating our wedding anniversary. The sun came out for a couple of the days we were there, and we were able to take advantage of the canoe and kayaks that were part of the rental. As others have mentioned, the beds are quite comfortable. The full, remodeled kitchen was perfect; had everything I needed to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner. The lake is gorgeous; the water clarity, unreal! We tried fishing from the dock, as well as the canoe, but to no avail. The area is great for quiet, peaceful strolls, and we were also able to visit and explore Grand Marais; such a neat little lake-side town. The area is full of things to do, but we found it perfect to relax, read, and enjoy the surroundings. We had a little fire on the deck and had our breath taken away by the star-soaked sky. The property owners were easy to deal with and promptly called/e-mailed back with answers to all of our questions/concerns. Pretty sure you can't go wrong with this rental; we're definitely wanting to take a trip here again.

Outstanding northern getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip up to the north shore area and enjoyed it thoroughly. The owners are very helpful and accommodating. This cabin is top notch. Feels like a new cabin with beautiful hardwood floors and tongue and groove interior. As has been stated in other reviews the beds are very comfortable. It is a gorgeous lake that's quiet and peaceful with the sounds of loons calling. We brought our boat up and had it docked right behind the cabin. It was very convenient and we were in and out often. We did some fishing on the lake and caught mainly small mouth ( a couple were pretty big 15 and 18") and a few small perch. It's a short drive in to Grand Marais which is such a cool little town in an amazing setting. We very much enjoyed our stay here and would most definitely consider returning for another relaxing visit.

Nice Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with our two dogs for an extended weekend and had a great time. The cabin was inviting, clean, and had everything we needed. The owners were also quick to respond to emailed questions. Within a few miles from the cabin is a really nice segment of the Superior Hiking Trail. Cascade River State Park is also a short drive away. Grand Marais is a 25 minute drive north where you can access Lake Superior, enjoy a tasty treat at "World's Best Donuts", and purchase local art. We feel lucky to have found such a great pet friendly location for our family!
