About Jim O'Malley

Hi, welcome to our home away from home. Our condo is 25 miles from our house so we use this condo regularly in the summer time. Our son grew up playing on the private beach in the back of the condo. Amazing location-close to restaurants, both intercoastal and Gulf of Mexico! Lots of great memories. Come share the fun with our family.

Jim O'Malley purchased this condo in 2004

Why Jim O'Malley chose Florida Central West

If your looking for a smaller building with lots of charm and comfort, we are the place for you. We love the ability to hang underneath the building while enjoying the view of the water in the shade, diving off the dock or walking across the street to the Gulf of Mexico.

What makes this condo unique

Boat dock if needed. Have friends pick you up in their boat and take a spin!

Nice and relaxing family vacation!

  • 4 of 5

This was just what I needed to enjoy time with my dad, husband, and two teenage daughters...away from the noise, long wait lines, and overspending of our typical summer vacation at places like Myrtle Beach, Disney "walk" (as my husband calls it), and the like. Condo was clean, spacious, and inviting. My daughters loved the commons area underneath with ping-pong, darts, music, and two large tv's. Although we didn't end up using the fire pit, my oldest daughter saw it as a plus. We saw many kinds of birds and numerous dolphin from our balconies and back patio. It was a quick and easy walk across the street to the beach without having to climb stairs or hike up and over sand dunes. We spent one day at Fort de Soto Park which was only about 20 minutes away and included nice beach areas, two awesome piers, numerous picnic areas, multitudes of canoe/kayak/paddle board/boating areas, and clean restrooms and outdoor showers. The condo is in a great location close to restaurants, grocery stores, and a verity of shops. The only two negatives I found with our condo was that it needed more wash cloths, and a better way to keep the upstairs cooled enough without the downstairs bedroom freezing.

I would definitely stay here again and will refer my friends and family to stay in this location as well.

Rae- North Carolina.

Great Condo !

  • 5 of 5

The condo was wonderful! Out the back is a perfect view of the bay and right across the street was a public path to the beach. Walking distance to many shops and restaurants. Under the building was a public area with grill, couches, tv, firepit, etc. Tried fishing a few mornings without much luck but there were dolphins, pelicans and herons all proving that they had superior fishing skills. The owners did a great job of communicating and gave some great advice on places to eat. They made us feel like welcomed guests. If we come back to St. Pete I wouldn't hesitate to rent this place again.

Excellent place to stay

  • 5 of 5

My family and I recently just stayed here at Jim's vacation place from April 16-23 and have to say it was well worth our trip! We were in Treasure Island for a wedding so this was our first time ever visiting this side of FL and we will definitely be returning to this area. The beach is beautiful and having the bay right at our back door was stunning to watch the sun rise every morning. We saw so many dolphins during our stay (both on the bay side and the beach). A couple of the nights there was 7 adults and 1 child that stayed in the condo at a time and we all had plenty of space didn't feel crammed at all. The only down falls of this condo would be the amount of stairs to get up to the front door, so if you don't like stairs I don't recommend this location. The stairs weren't an issue for us though. And then there was the construction going on across the street during our week stay, this was annoying at times because they were driving huge concrete beams into the ground Monday-Friday from 8am to 6pm. The drilling shook the entire building. This is all out of Jim's control, just sad that the new building being built will more than likely block the view of the beach you can currently see from this condo. I did really appreciate how friendly and quickly Jim was to respond to any questions I had leading up to our trip and during our stay. This condo building has a great family bonding feeling and that was nice to feel so welcomed and not just another attendant!! Thank you Jim hope to see you again some day!!

Nice View but that was about it

  • 3 of 5

The views were exactly as shown and I thoroughly enjoyed watching the sun rise over the bay, but there were a number of disappointments.

First of all when I booked the room the note about being accessible said n/a. The universal meaning for n/a is not applicable. There were two flights of stairs to get into the condo. My 86 year old mother uses a cane and it was a major ordeal for her.

The floors were dirty. The carpets were spotted and after walking around barefoot in the condo the bottoms of our feet were black. Neither toilet worked quite right. Downstairs you had to hold the handle towards the front to get it to flush at all, then push it to the rear to get the tank to refill. Upstairs it just had to be held to flush. The cabinet in the downstairs bath was off its hinges. When I plugged in the hair dryer I saw that the outlet was cracked. The kitchen had a generous supply of trash bags, soap and paper towels but it was really disorganized (3 plastic colanders, tons of baskets, but no regular sized spoons, no corkscrew, lids with missing bottoms) and not very clean. I've never seen such worn out plastic and fogged up drink ware. I spent 15-20 minutes cleaning residue from the coffee maker before I could use it. The furniture was depressingly worn. The coffee table and artificial trees in the living area were dusty. The spiral staircase presented problems for luggage (maybe I was already tired from hauling it up two flights from the parking area) and the railing at the top was a little loose. The blinds and screen doors were hard to open. I finally gave up on getting the blinds in the master bedroom to open. There was a futon/chaise like cushion in the 2nd bedroom and when I unfolded it thinking I would stretch out on it I saw that it had a huge stain on it. I've stayed at other condos in the area and they were fine. This one has the potential of being great (as long as you are agile enough for all the stairs) but it really needs maintenance and cleaning. I give it 3 stars because the view is 4-5 stars and it is spacious, but unfortunately the upkeep leaves something to be desired.

Awesome condo with ample space & a relaxing and fun outdoor entertaining area with water view/access

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of 6 staying for 5 nights for our friends wedding. Starting with the location, it was across the street from the treasure island beach and a 5 minute ride to St. Pete Beach, which us where we mainly went to the beach and bars. Very convenient. The condo was a 2 minute walk to a Publix, which would be great if you wanted to cook. Beer and liquor stores are also a few minutes down the street. There is plenty of parking in front of the condo. It does not appear like much from the street view, however when you walk inside, that changes. Keyless entry is very easy. Kitchen is large and clean, along with the high end washer and dyer in same room. The living space includes a dining room table and lare area with a sectional sofa and a single chair. The furniture and carpet could use some updating and the tv could be larger but satisfied our needs. On the same floor is BR #1 with a bathroom shared with the living room. Also, is a sweet deck that over looks the bay, we even saw dolphins one morning. In the closet there were board games, air mattress, and maps and restaurant info about the area.

The 2nd floor has BR #2 & 3 with a master bath, double sinks, and a soak tub. Both BR's had plenty of room, plus an additional balcony.

One of the reasons why I chose this condo was for the outdoor entertaining area. On the ground floor outside is a covered seating area with 2 cable tv's which were easy to use, simply uncover and turn on. This is 10 steps to the dock that goes out 50' and even a small "beach," which is more of a small area to stand in the water, but nonetheless cool in your backyard. The other owners (which were very nice and helpful) there have kayaks and fishing poles but not for renters to use, however if you bring your own, it's a great place to do both. We uses this area to watch football games, have some beers and get some sun before the wedding.

Overall, the place was awesome. The owner was very helpful leading up to and during the vacation. He was easily contacted and even gave us a heads up about a slight construction problem with the concrete workers. He stocked the fridge with some local beers to ease our pain. All of our group was impressed and would love to return for our next trip to St. Pete. Thank you for your hospitality.
