Just what we needed for a sisters' getaway weekend!

  • 5 of 5

Each of us had our own bedroom!

The showers were always nice and hot!

The porch was perfect for our early morning coffee and chats!

The location was convenient for finding shopping and eating out and great for long walks through the woods or on the beach.

It was exactly what we were hoping for!

Great Multi-Family Weekend!

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely Memorial Day Weekend at Macatawa Treetops Cottage. Norma was wonderful and responsive during the booking process and during the stay itself. We were a group of families with little ones (all under age 6); there was plenty of room for both group meals and for everyone to have their own space as needed.

The kids and adults loved relaxing on the screened in porch. The 2 minute walk to a pristine Lake Michigan beach was the highlight of each day.

There aren't any major "cons", but a few notes are worth mentioning:

--the house itself is older, so just know that surfaces/furniture/bathrooms are slightly worn. Everything is clean and functional.

--there are many stairs both inside and out (just like all of the houses in that area), so it was a bit challenging with the younger kids. However, we easily navigated that with pressure-mounted baby gates.

Overall, everyone had a wonderful time and the price point is perfect. We will definitely return!

Relaxing, fun week with family

  • 5 of 5

We rented this cottage for the week of our daughters wedding. We had 8 adults and two kids, plus our Aussie Tasha. We were so happy to find a place that would allow a well behaved dog. Our daughter rented a place on Lk Michigan. Another two cottages rented by our group, one was the Boathouse, were both down at the bottom of the hill from ours. Lots of people came to visit ours and everyone really liked it. It made you think you were living in the trees, just like the name.

We had plenty of room, there are two main floor bedrooms one has a whole wall of a built in dresser w/mirror. Beds were very comfortable.

I wanted to take home the dining room table, great for games! This place has a few fun one of a kind painted pieces. Bathrooms were clean and hot water was abundant. I did a load of laundry every day from time spent at the beach and having two children along. It had a dishwasher, but we never used it.

The top floor had lots of sleeping options and room for a blow up queen size bed if you needed one.

This cottage was short walk to either Lk. Macatawa and the marina (bottom of hill) and in the other direction Lake Michigan, with beautiful private beach.

We spent many evenings talking/relaxing after a day on the beach on the screened in porch. We used both of the decks a lot. We all remarked that there were plenty of spaces inside and outside of the cottage where you could go to have time to yourself if needed. There was room for 3 cars to park easily. I think other renters were wishing they had that luxury.

Only thing I can think of to suggest is maybe a real couch, other than all wicker furniture. We liked the living room, but would of loved a regular couch for the comfort. Internet would have been helpful, but we knew it wasn't available when we rented. This isn't a modern dry walled "house" its a fun cottage with nice views of the woods and great air flow. This is a gaited community and we had no worries when leaving the cottage.

There were some beach toys and chairs in the lower level and we used the grill.

Only drawback for this place I can think of would be lots of stairs if someone has an issue with climbing steps. However once on the main floor, everything you need is there. It was fine for all of us ages 3 yrs to 58.

The pictures are accurate. It was very clean. Our deposit was returned to us within a week of our check out. We never needed to contact the owners about anything.

We had a wonderful week.

Treetops, a very nice home base for vacation.

  • 4 of 5

TREETOPS provided for the 5 adults and 2 toddlers a comfortable place to visit and enjoy each other.

The listing photos and descriptions were accurate. The property was clean and pretty well maintained.

It was just a short walk down the road to the beach. And just minutes to Holland.

There are steps to the main floor, so that is a consideration for elderly or very small children.

Overall, a nice vacation home for the week.

This cottage is in a gated neighborhood and six cottages from Lake Michigan beach and a short walk to the Holland Harbor, Big Red Lighthouse, Lake Macatawa, and Macatawa Bay Yacht Club. Holland's downtown with its renown great retail area is a 10 minute drive east down scenic South Shore Drive. Going south a 10 minute drive will take you to the village of Saugatuck with its many shops, galleries, antique shops and restaurants. Be sure to check out the many reasonably priced golf courses in the area if that is your interest.
