Perfect weekend stay.
Perfect stay for weekend Cooperstown baseball.. loved everything! Not far from baseball park ( about 15 min drive). Had all of the little things that we often forget.. Paper towels, toilet paper, towels , etc. will recommend!
We were only there for sleeping at night. It was fine.
Great Cabin !
It was just as described- a cabin in the woods! Clean, and efficient! Worked perfectly for our trip.
The location is stunning! Just peaceful and calm. Beautiful country retreat. Screened in patio is where we spent most of our time. Squirrels and chipmunks feed in the yard. Deer come out at dusk. Cabin is perfect for a couple with kids, only note would be that the upstairs room ceiling is very low so full grown adults may not enjoy this. It’s a loft style so perfect for little people. We Bbq at home one evening which was a so nice. I’d definitely recommend it, especially after we experienced the “business” of Cooperstown. We liked being away from the crowds, matter of fact we were the only guests at Old World Village during our three night stay. I had no idea New York had such gorgeous country.
so-so; wanted more comfort
My husband and I stayed there for 4 days this summer. The front porch is a very nice space and we spent a lot of time there, but the rest of the structure is somewhere between a trailer and a tiny house. If you are not small, slender people, this is not the cabin for you. We both kept banging our shins on the bed frame. The futon is like sleeping on a board. The kitchen was sparsely stocked. You can't even make spaghetti--not enough large pans. Two saucepans, each only large enough to heat up Spaghettios. No decent cutting board. Would have been nice to know that trying to make tuna salad would be a trial--I would have brought my own pans and cutting board. No wifi. Guests are supposed to go only 10 miles an hour on the dirt road that winds back to the cabins. The people staying in the first cabin went flying around the corner way over the speed limit and almost ran us into the pond. The owner was very kind and accommodating. The place was clean. They had lots of helpful literature on hand about where to eat and things to do, but that can't make up for the other shortcomings of the place. Others who stayed there seemed to enjoy it--families even--according to the messages left in the cabin notebook. For two clumsy people in their sixties who wanted more creature comforts, it just wasn't our cup of tea.
Old World Village is always receptive to learn how we can better our guests stay with us. A look into supplying more kitchen utilities is certainly doable! I plan to add our full list supplies for any future guests so if they wish to bring their own they can.
No Wifi will be available to guests, however we encourage guests to enjoy the fresh air and secluded wooded surroundings or build a fire in your private fire pit. We have our meadow walk trail for guests to explore and most popular the covered porches to watch for fun loving critters.
We pride ourselves with a high standard of cleanliness to make up for the smaller space of a typical home. The cottages will allow you space to come back to and relax while your day is spent touring the area and attractions. Old World Village is considered rustic & secluded and have great plans for the future of our property that will be featuring hand tooled timberframe cabins and unique hobbit homes!
Please look through all photos available to get better sense if Old World Village is the place for you.
Love, Love, Love this place!!!!
We rented all of the cabins and the chalet for a family compound. The facilities were clean & well maintained. Each of the cabins were sufficient to house four adults. Although the ceiling height is low in the loft, you'll only hit your head once before you figure it out. Let's face it-if you're visiting for the CDP experience-you'll be spending very little time at your selected housing. This place has an amazingly large fire pit (perfect for cool summer evenings) and each of the cabins have screened porches (my favorite space). You'll be glad that you stayed here. The owner was super easy to work with and very accommodating.
