About Ted Lively

Ted and Laneta Lively are both from Wichita Falls, TX. Ted is an insurance salesman and Laneta is a school teacher. Laneta's family has been coming to Lake San Isabel for over 60 years. The family has always loved the peace and tranquility of this area. Laneta's grandparents first purchased a cabin here around 1960.

Ted Lively purchased this house in 2012

Why Ted Lively chose Southeast

In 2008, we completely rebuilt the family home and in 2012 purchased the house next door, just to rent out and to have and share with family and friends. This house was built in 2000, by Laneta's cousin but never finished. We completely updated it inside and out in 2011.

What makes this house unique

This house is located off of Hwy 165, across from Lake San Isabel, on a dead end road. So, it is always quiet, which encourages having abundant wildlife. From the back deck, you will be amazed at all the hummingbirds, chipmunks, deer, magpies, finches, stellar jays, just to name a few. The house is an easy five minute walk from the lake, that is stocked with rainbow trout and salmon by the state of CO. Fishing supplies and licenses are sold at the restaurant, which you walk right by to get to the lake. The house has a water well with very clean, 'DRINKABLE' water. Just listening to the small creek behind the house and observing the wildlife is the best medicine.

Great house, location, and owners

  • 5 of 5

House was a nice size with plenty of room and modern appliances. We had 6 people stay and on one night invited extended family over for a game night. Plenty of room to accommodate them. House is in a great location within walking distance of the lake and our favorite hike (slide rock). The backyard was very relaxing with entertainment provided by chipmunks , hummingbirds and deer. The owners really went above and beyond what was expected. Besides giving us great tips on things to do around the area, they gave us sunflower seeds to feed the wildlife and let us use their grill one night to cook burgers. I highly recommend this property.

Great Visit and Cabin, best option at Lake Isabel

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at both rustic lodges at Lake Isabel and have enjoyed visiting Lake Isabel for over 30 years. The Lively's cabin has everything, all the conveniences of home with a stream behind the cabin. The layout was perfect for us to have my in laws in the large bedroom downstairs while my wife and two boys and I occupied upstairs. Great setup and lots of room. Very reasonably priced, will be the first place we rent on future visits.

Great family memories

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time staying at Lake San Isabel. This house was large enough to accommodate 6 adults & 2 children, and our 2 other babies ( 2 shih tzus). The setting was beautiful, with the upstairs deck for sitting & enjoying the sounds of the creek below. The ground was too wet & soggy to actually go down to the creek but it was nice to hear, very relaxing....We all had a great time fishing & caught at least a few everytime we went.

This was a great little vacation for our family to get together & enjoy. Thanks again, Ted for the use of your vacation home.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review. Glad you had a great time. Too bad about the ground being so wet. We have had record snow & rain & along with underground streams being full, the ground was extremely saturated. A few days before you arrived, the creek below the back of the house was out of it's banks. Look forward to hopefully having you again. Ted & Laneta

Bobby & "The Boys"

  • 5 of 5

This was my second experience at this wonderful mountain property. This time was with 3 15 year old young men. The cabin is just a joy to stay at. The scenery is great, & the boys went for a hike out the front door every day. This is just a great place for a quiet & peaceful getaway from the normal day to day life. Was very clean & welcoming as usual, & just a great place to escape. Thanks Ted & Lanetta, & John & Kimberly for a wonderful experience again !!

Owner's Response: Hey Bobby, really glad y'all could make it again. Wish I had been there to go fishing with the boys. I heard it was pretty cold. Most people don't think about it being cold on Memorial Day, but in the mountains you never know. Hopefully. You will be able to come see us again. You are always more than welcome. I miss having one of your "poor boy pies". WOW! Take care Ted & Laneta

San Isabel is located in South Central Colorado and near a variety of tourist attractions. The San Isabel National Forest is an ideal place for picnicking, fishing, and hiking. A trip up nearby Greenhorn Mountain, at 12,500 ft., offers a splendid view of the Sangre de Cristo mountain range. Within walking distance from the cabin you will find Lake San Isabel. It is open year round and stocked by the Colorado State Department of Wildlife. Another treasure hidden in the Wet Mountains is Bishop’s Castle, built by Jim Bishop. The huge stone and iron castle, complete with a smoking dragon, is an intriguing side trip from San Isabel. (Approx 10 min drive from Isabel) Westcliffe is a forty-five minute drive including a bowling alley, movie theatre, summer concerts and festivals, specialty shops, and a variety of dining options. Within ninety minutes is Colorado Springs which is home to the Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak, Olympic Training Center, and the US Air Force Academy.

We are also located just minutes away from the Christianson Brush Canyon Ranch (which offers a wedding venue.)
