Car: Not Necessary
See why Outer Battery is a special place: https://vimeo.com/171235306
In the drone video, the red car is parked in front of One O'Clock Cottage.
A stunning cliffside walking trail begins outside the door and winds (to the right in the video) east around the cliff through Signal Hill national park, ending at Cabot Tower where Marconi received the 1st transatlantic radio signal in 1901. You can watch whales from the trail (sometimes even in directly front of the house) or take a cruise through the Narrows on harbour sightseeing boats. Seabirds nest in the cliffs and shed roofs nearby - watch the chicks hatch in June. Downtown offers a very sparky arts scene with great music, theatre, dance and art galleries.

About the owner: Newfoundland journalist & musician, we have lived in Outer Battery for 25 years.
Why the Owner Chose Downtown, St. John's, NL, Canada:
The Outer Battery is a truly special place. It feels like a place from another time - a magical place. Inhabited since 1675 by fishermen, it has the feel of a small, separate village community. Here we speak of 'going into Town' even though it's only 10 minutes walk! Neighbours are retired fishermen, longshoremen (stevedores), potters, poets, musicians, journalists, students.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Sitting on the deck watching everything from a rowboat to a cruise liner come through the Narrows. Seeing cormorants and a family of otters at waterside. Catching a glimpse of eagles fishing in the Narrows or the seagull chicks on the twine-store roof across the path. Witnessing wisps of fog creep in the narrows. Hearing the lonely sound of Fort Amherst foghorn. Wandering up among the higgledy-piggledly houses of Fort Waldegrave. Chatting with neighbours who all have a great story. Walking the North Head Trail in July and seeing whales spout. Catching some great entertainment downtown and being able to walk home into a quiet little separate world.
