Taos House Rental Photos and Description

1 bedroom adobe on 5 acres 10 minutes from town . Refundable cleaning deposit.

Casita Dona Linda is an elegant, authentic adobe on five acres, surrounded by junipers and native grasses, nestled in Taos Canyon on the scenic Enchanted Circle drive - yet only 5 miles from historic Taos Plaza. Truly a four season experience, with vibrant spring and summer gardens, golden autumn cottonwoods, and snow covered pines in winter. The property has a private trail culminating in a canyon-view.

bench before it joins national forest. A rustic bridge crosses the Rio Fernando. A 1/3-acre pond reflects the landscape - except when the pet trout jump or the ice sparkles in winter.

Location:

Approximately 5 miles East from Taos Plaza, 18 miles to Angel Fire and 24 miles to Taos Ski Valley – on the Enchanted Circle byway. Very convenient to hiking, biking, snow shoeing trails and all the shopping, dining and culture Taos has to offer.

Amenities:

Beautiful outdoor setting with patio furniture and the backdrop of the Carson National Forest. Covered parking just outside the front door. Radiant heated saltillo tile flooring and a large kiva fireplace. Generous skylights set between high ponderosa ceiling vigas accent the softly curved mud plaster walls. Lots of closet space for storage. Washer/dryer available with iron and ironing board. Satellite Dish TV, wireless Internet and courtesy phone offered. Fenced-in, private, separate dog yard (shady, sheltered and fairly escape proof for the pooch!)

Baths:

One full with tub/shower, pedestal sink, bright skylight, cabinetry and custom tile work. Lots of towels and a hair dryer.

Kitchen:

Galley style: fully equipped with gas stove, double sink with disposal, refrigerator, coffee maker and bean grinder, blender, electric beater, microwave, large crock pot, toaster oven and an ample supply of dishes (crystal glassware), silverware and cookware. Custom cabinetry and tile create an efficient work place. Built-in desk great for computer stationing set-up. View of adjacent private patio, pond and pine covered hills.

Living/Dinning:

Curved kiva fireplace with raised sandstone hearth and adjacent adobe banco seating. TV, library (may be supplemented by owner’s collection) “Kennedy” oak rocker, two-love seat/sleeper couches, coffee table, ample lighting, Sheepskin rug. Navaho weaving and other art works.

Coved dining area with 4 chairs, round table and window views into the expanse of the pond and forested hills – good birding!

Bedding:

Total comfort! Queen – “Select Comfort” (individual firmness controls), ceiling fan, skylight, cross ventilating windows, dedicated room thermostat. Romero for clothing items. Close to bath. Down comforter, lots of pillows and bed linens provided.

Heating/ Cooling:

Radiant floor heat on two separate thermostats. Nice warm floors for winter! Kiva fireplace in living area. Thick adobe walls, trees, and cross ventilation keep it naturally cool in summer.

Sq. Ft.:

Approx. 800 sq. ft., in an open, well designed floor plan with softly curved mud plaster walls, skylights, solid natural wood and tile. Beautifully decorated and furnished. The casita is attached by a double-thick adobe wall to the owners’ home, which creates a quiet, private space to call your own. Sheltering front porch entry and latilla privacy fence along back patio.

Policies:

This is a non-smoking property. Dog friendly (sorry, no cats…..) with Dog Guidelines attached to contract. Maximum capacity 4. This home is a good fit for adults and older children. Due to the 8 ft. deep pond and also the delicate, mud plaster interior walls it may not be advisable for young children.

Deposit and Cancellation:

$150 fully refundable cleaning/damage deposit.

No reservation refund. Trip insurance has worked well for those anticipating the need.

Wonderfully Charming and Relaxing Casita

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I needed a long weekend getaway for some rest and relaxation. I found Linda’s casita and booked without hesitation and we couldn’t be more happy with our experience! Linda is a generous host and took time to visit with us and show us around. At the time of this review it is mid fall and the crisp cool fall temperatures have arrived. The casita was warm and inviting and was exactly what we were looking for. Our experience was so wonder we plan on returning in late spring or mid-summer when their gardens are in full bloom. The property is about 10 minutes from down town Taos out US 64 East. While there are plenty of dining options in Taos we chose to pick up groceries and take full advantage of the kitchen on the property. Linda keeps spices and various supplies on hand to make cooking there much like cooking at home-which made it that much more enjoyable. There is no cellphone service but there is WiFi and a land-line if you have to make a call.

I have recommend this property to friends and family!

Beautiful, peaceful, nature retreat!

  • 5 of 5

Nice place! We loved bird watching/identifying, walking the small trail up the mountain behind the property, and feeding the huge trout that call the small pond on the property home! Would love to go again in the spring when all Linda's plants are in full bloom!

Hope to return again soon to this tranquil setting to relax and enjoy the Taos area. The casita was clean, cozy and had everything we needed for a lovely fall retreat including heated floors and a fireplace for the cool evenings! It was super!

Favorite Accommodations in Taos, NM (and pet friendly)

  • 5 of 5

It is truly a remarkable experience to stay at Casita Donna Linda. The hosts are exceptionally warm and gracious people. Available when you need them, and respectful of your privacy at the same time. They open their entire magical property to their guests including our nosy and active dog. The casita has its own entrance with covered parking, and private patio on the back where we spent much time enjoying the gardens, abundant bird life and scenic pond. We arrived as the Fall colors were coming on, and the reflection of color on the pond is a sight to behold. I found myself relaxing for what felt like the first time! Many tranquil, reflective spaces throughout the property. The casita itself is a spacious gem. Beautiful architecturally, warm and cozy furnishings and everything you need to enjoy your stay - the owners have thought of everything! We really took advantage of the library and after finding the kitchen so well stocked including outdoor gas grill, prepared several meals there. The Wifi allows you to stay in communication with the outside world, if you must! And the cellular service is good under three miles from the property. There is a landline available for necessary calls if you cannot leave. I think the other reviews reinforce everything we experienced, except security. The casita sits well off the road and with the owners on the property, we never even thought about safety - and we usually do!?

You will want to respect the space (its Beautiful!) and follow the pet policy (its easy to do). A quick clean up at the end of our stay and Linda refunded our cleaning deposit before we got back home! Thank you Linda and Donn for a vacation we will not forget!

Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

The best way I can describe Casita Dona Linda is that once you arrive, you won't want to leave. This is a beautiful place to stay in a lovely setting. Our hosts were absolutely wonderful, the casita is very comfortable and well equipped, the outdoor space is peaceful, and it is all within a short drive to Taos. Everything about our stay was perfect and we will not even consider another location the next time we visit Taos.

Serenity

  • 5 of 5

This lovely casita is just a short drive from Taos in the Enchanted Circle. The owners were nearby and extremely hospitable. There was a wonderful chimenea type fireplace in the living room with 3 hour logs provided.

Bed is a select comfort with cushy comfortable pillows.

Kitchen all ready to make quick meals for us in between enjoying the restaurants in town.

Best of all were the beautiful gardens and small lake in the back yard which were inviting to the beautiful mountain birds including hummingbirds.

We hiked directly from the back of the property into Kit Carson Forest.

If you're looking for a heavenly romantic getaway; we highly recommend this as your destination.
