I came to Lexington as a newlywed with a Masters in Occupational Therapy. We moved to the Lake in 1989 before my youngest could walk and stayed for 14 years full-time! I am semi-retired now and spend as much time as I can at the Lake!
Cindy purchased this Cottage in 1989
Why Cindy chose Lexington
I fell in love with this property at first sight. It was a disaster, but as my friends all said "it has a lot of potential". I worked part-time at the hospital while the girls were small and began fixing up the old house and guest house. We lived and worked in the area and in this home for 14 years while the girls were growing up. We rented the guest house to families with young children during the summer so the girls always had playmates!
What makes this Cottage unique
Beach walking remains my favorite lake house activity. Our beach is very walkable in both directions, I search for sea glass, fossils and rocks! There is no light pollution in this area so the stars are especially bright, star gazing is one of my favorite night-time activities. I love to lie in the hammock, listen to the surf and watch the stars. I often go to the cottage during the full moon, the moon rise over the water is amazing!!! My favorite time of day at the cottage is SUNRISE!!! The gardens at the cottage are nice to enjoy, they bloom all summer long!

Clean main house + guest house, both have lovely character. Lots to do in summer! We had a great time with our stay and highly recommend it, we'd do it again! No complaints
Great property, & location
Thank you Cindy we had a great family vacation. Plenty of room so no one felt crowded. Plenty of space, and things for kids to do also. The beach is large and we all had a lot of fun searching for rocks. Watched the boats go by. Amazing sunrises. Close enough to town to grab anything quickly. Down town was great too. Little shops, delicious ice cream & walked the pier. We ate at Wimpy, the Village Pub, and had Browns pizza! Ps Browns has great homemade ranch! ;)
We were allowed to bring our dogs whom are part of our family too & if they could talk they give this a 5 star trip as well! Thanks again!
Amazing yard and beach!!
My extended family ranging from 65-6 weeks old had an amazing stay this past week. The backyard is huge and perfect for kids to run and play. It's also pretty private and has a zillion options for seating from comfy chairs, two long picnic tables, benches, swings, etc. The driveway is super long and allowed us to walk our dogs everyday. And we saw a family of deer often. In between the two houses is a flat area with tables perfect for hanging out. The beach is huge, sandy, water is rocky so we spent hours throwing rocks, pretty private (we only saw people on it 2 of the 7 days we were there!!). The view is breathtaking. The stairs are long but the storage on the beach makes it possible to spend all day there and not have to carry things back and forth.
The house has 5 bedrooms and then the cottage has a zillion beds to fit even more people. The furnishings are dated-but clean and comfy and really you won't be spending time inside anyways with the amazing backyard and beach. The cottage is pretty rustic and dated as well with cement floors and a small bathroom on the first floor (beds on all on second floor)--but again clean and fine for sleeping and relaxing. It also has a closed in front porch perfect for sitting and drinking coffee or doing crafts on rainy days.
The cell signal and wifi are weak and almost nonexistent-so be ready to unplug for your stay--which for us was amazing and much needed so we could slow down and just be together.
The owner was also super easy to communicate with and responded quickly. I would totally recommend this place to anyone.
We had a fantastic stay with extended family! The beach is beautiful and the home and cottage well equipped and charming. We will be back!
Beautiful view, good location
The house was nice. The dining room table was nice for family dinners. A very short drive into town. The kitchen was well stocked and the fridge is pretty big.
The bath towels were a bit ratty, I would suggest bringing your own. The water pressure is fairly low. There is wifi but it's not really stated anywhere, password is on the modem. We looked for a guide with instructions or details about the house but there isn't one. I think most of the info can be found online or by reaching out to the owner.
Overall, a nice place to stay but I would say a little pricey for what it is.
Cindy bends over backwords to make things easy for the renter!. House has alot of amenieties:
swingset for the kids, toys and games, soaps, shampoo, paper towels, bathroom tissue, foil, real roasted coffee, laundry detergent, many beach towels etc. Not all rentals come with these things! We loved the fact that she provided kayaks to use and beach toys for the kids. The backyard is lovely and has a great view. Our favorite was swinging on the wooden swing and the hammock..... and watching the boats go by was so entertaining for the grandkids! (us too!) Swimming in such a clean, beautiful lake was such a wonderful experience......
House was very clean when we arrived. The only drawback for us is that one of my little grandsons is allergic to dogs and there was a bit of dog hair on the couch. Needless to say he reacted and was uncomfortable coughing ,sneezing etc. . We should've realized that before we came cuz Cindy DID advertise that dogs were welcome. We still would love to come back (maybe the couch and chairs could be vacuumed from the minimal amount of dog hair?) All in all, it was a beautiful vacation and the whole family just loved it!! Thank you Cindy!
