BBQ on the patio while enjoying the sun setting over the ocean. The home has been renovated from the original floor plan and is open and bright. It has Wi-fi and expanded TV stations. It sleeps 5. Washer and dryer is conveniently located in the garage. Easy access to the clubs amenities: pool, hot tub, tennis courts, sauna, basketball courts, playground and playing field. Picnic on the bluff by the ocean or head down to the beach via private beach access.
I live in Dana Point and we purchased this house primarily for use by family members who visit from New York.

This property is in the prestigious 24 hour guard gated community of Niguel Shores. The club house facilities have recently been renovated and are top notch.
It is a convenient location from which to do many things; Disneyland is only 30 miles away. San Diego is 60 miles south and LA is 60 miles north. Legoland in Carlsbad is 33miles south.
While my Wife & 4 yr. old daughter were finishing our remodeling project we were lucky to find this wonderful peaceful home. The house is located in a private beach community that gives you a very secure feeling during your stay. It is fully equipped with a remodeled kitchen, high speed internet, bicycles, boggie boards and beach towels. The home is located on a cul de sac which is attached to a wonderful green belt area that has walking paths all the way down to the beach.
We truly enjoyed our stay here and were sad when our time was finished. While the house has wonderful ocean views from the kitchen, master and patio, but what we loved most was to drive down to the private beach parking lot with our 4 yr old daughter to collect sea shells and watch the sunset together.
The owner Janice is a wonderful and accommodating person. It was a pleasure to do business with her and she is the main reason we would recommend this house to anyone we know. The house is the best value in Dana Point and deserves 5 stars.
My husband, 2 teenage daughters and I stayed here for 2 months while our house was being remodeled. What a wonderful retreat this was for us, away from the stresses of our renovation project!
The home was fully equipped with everything we needed to continue our daily lives. The kitchen was well-stocked and spacious, and oh, what a view!!
Just about every night, we would eat dinner out on the patio and watch a fabulous sunset over the ocean and the emergence of twinkling lights in the hills along the coast. The community boasts a private cliff area over the beach where you can also picnic and watch the sunset, but it was so fabulous right here in the back yard, we rarely bothered!
On nights where it got chilly, we'd go inside to the large comfy family room where we'd have a fire in the fireplace and watch tv.
The house is situated in a very quiet location near the end of a cul-de-sac, so it is a great spot for families with kids.
The community has a sparkling pool, hot tub, tennis, and playground area. It's a very short drive from the house, or you can walk there by following the neatly manicured pathways.
In summary, this is a lovely home in a very desirable community. Add to it a landlady that was very pleasant to work with, and you can see why it deserves 5 stars!
My wife and I had the good fortune and privilege to stay in this beautiful home for three months, whilst I was working on a project in the area. Given that we were arriving with not much more than two suitcases and a 3 month old baby, finding a well equipped fully furnished house was a must. After quite some searching (I physically viewed around 10 properties in southern Orange County) I had the great luck of stumbling upon this lovely two bedroom house, situated in this peaceful and picturesque gated community.
Given that I looked at so many properties in the area, I think I'm well qualified to mention the following amazing attributes of this property, which set it apart from the rest:
- First and foremost, the owners are truly wonderful, welcoming and warm-hearted people who were helpful and accommodating without being the intrusive in the slightest.
- Then there's the view - it's been mentioned by others, but it really deserves mentioning again, the view out to Catalina Island is truly spectacular, my wife and I often caught ourselves simply staring out at the sea - which was indeed a lovely momentary relief from the challenges of coming to grips with a 3 month old child!
- The house truly is fully equipped, you will want for nothing here, from the kitchen, to the bed linens and towels, everything is there and easily accessible. The lounge and dining area are superbly well appointed, the beds very comfortable and the bathrooms are newly rennovated and a pleasure to be in.
- The community is really a lovely place to be - well mantained, supremely safe, and with absolutely wonderful outdoor areas including a huge pool complex, a childrens' playground and a private cliff-top park directly on top of Strand Beach where every Friday evening the very friendly locals gather over a glass of wine to enjoy the sunset.
- Another point which is easy to overlook, but for us a huge plus - air-conditioning - you simply won't need it! Because the property is located high up, the cooling Pacific winds are totally unobstructed, meaning that even in the hottest days the house (including the bedrooms) stayed pleasantly cool with a lovely light breeze - even in 33c/91f degree heat.
I am absolutely convinced that there is no better value short-term / vacation rental available in Orange County, and most certainly not in such a beautiful place so close to such an amazing beach.
We live in Europe, we love to travel, for beach vacations we have stayed often at vacational rentals in Greece, France, Spain, Italy, etc. but no other place has been as nice, as spacious and as comfortable as this beautiful home.
The description and the Photos we first saw in the internet made us feel confident enough to choose this property over many others we have seen. When we got there we were simply amazed how beautiful, clean and well equipped it was and it got just better by the minute. Its view from the kitchen, the master bedroom and the garden simply breath taking and its proximity to the beach with exclusive parking was a very nice surprise.
The gated community gives the nice touch of exclusivity. The beach and the picknick area to enjoy the sunset simply the best of the best.
The information provided to us was accurate and transparent from the first moment on. We enjoyed not only the amenities and comfortness of the house but also the professional, friendly and uncomplicated rental procedures.
We highly recommend this place to anyone who likes to enjoy California at its best!
My family and I rented this property while wrapping up a nearby renovation, and felt at home the moment we arrived! The ocean view is great from the kitchen, master bedroom and backyard. A highlight of our day was to enjoy the sunset from the kitchen window. This beautifully furnished home has a large living/family room perfect for the entire family to snuggle up to watch a movie. Both bedrooms are spacious with large closets and extra space for storage. The bathrooms are updated with great showers. Our kids (5) and (11) shared the bedroom with two twin beds and a trundle, and had plenty of extra room to play.
The two car garage with a washer and dryer was perfect for our family's needs. A bonus was the quiet, safe cul-de-sac location… ideal for the kids' bikes, roller blades and scooters.
We highly recommend this home for people of all ages. It's perfect for families on vacation wanting the comforts of home with easy access to the ocean, community pool, tennis and parks. Janice was terrific to work with, and we can't say enough nice things about our experience.
My family and I stayed in this property for the entire month of July. We were in transition from Arizona back to California and Janice was so great to work with!!
Honestly, the pictures cannot do this setting justice. To wake up every morning to that VIEW outside the kitchen window...I found myself making excuses to do the dishes. The gas grill was so nice - I grilled most lunches (fresh fish!) and dinners and we ate them outside on the back porch where we could enjoy that view. The kitchen is very updated so if you want to cook you would be all set.
The community is very well kept and my kids LOVED the pool and play area. We did not take advantage of the tennis courts, but if that is your thing you will not be disappointed - the ocean breeze is to die for.
I almost did not rent this property because on the map it looked too far from the beach. I am so glad I did not let that sway me. My kids are too young to make the walk and we bring too much STUFF to the beach for the day, so we drove the car to the private parking lot (always a space, even on the 4th of July) and it was perfect. My friends who have stayed here rent a golf cart for the month and enjoy that for lugging things back and forth. I actually think I prefer being "up" on the hill so I can enjoy the view rather than closer to the beach without one.
The 4th of July was a blast - I loved not having to travel on this hectic day...the community has tons of events and the kids entered a sand castle contest.
In the end, it was hard for me to leave...I even asked Janice if she rents the place in winter because it was starting to feel like HOME.
I highly recommend this rental and if I did not end up moving back and finding a condo 10 minutes away I would be reserving next July right now!
p.s. if you rent make sure you get down to Wind and Sea and order the fish and chips and The Swack and order the asian salad as a side dish. YUM!
In addition to the water and sporting activities in the area, Laguna Beach is the town just north of Dana Point and it is filled with art galleries, restaurants, shops and art museums to explore.

Niguel Shores fees are paid directly to them. You must take a copy of your lease to the office. The office hours are Monday-Friday 9am to 5pm. Arrangements can be made for arrival at other times. The total fee is $155 ($100 tenancy fee, $30 for pedestrian tab and $25 for the car decal fee.
